In the following days, Su Er was unable to put into practice the idea of going to bed early and waking up early.
For this, Jiang Siyan received a veiled lecture from Aunt Cui.
It means, tell him to stop bothering the young girl.
Actually, it's not entirely Jiang Siyan's fault sometimes. Ultimately, it's because she was sleep-deprived a lot recently, so now she always sleeps until late morning.
Su Er suddenly became energetic at night, her sleep schedule completely reversed, as if she had fallen into a vicious cycle of staying up late and waking up late.
However, there was one time when Su Er really couldn't sleep, so she held the script and pulled Jiang Siyan to act with her.
It's fine if they're not acting together, but if they are, well, it's inevitable that things will get out of hand and cause some trouble.
Fortunately, despite going to bed late and waking up late, her blood and energy have been well nourished during this period.
He rarely left the house, rarely went outside, and was exposed to less sun. His skin was smooth and his face was rosy, and he had recovered a lot of the energy that he had lost due to excessive training.
After taking a shower, she nestled on the sofa in her bedroom to read the script. She would be joining the production team in two days, and there were still one or two scenes where she felt she hadn't quite grasped the emotions involved, which was causing her a lot of distress.
Jiang Siyan took a shower and came out. He looked at his watch and saw that it was already midnight.
She pinched the script between her fingers and pulled it out of her hand. Su Er reached out to grab it back, "Hey, I haven't finished reading it yet."
Jiang Siyan grabbed her wrist and scooped her up in his arms, giving her no chance to object like a tyrant. "It's getting late, let's see tomorrow."
Su Er has such thin arms and legs, he hadn't even exerted himself before he cried and said he couldn't take it, even a cold could make him lose two pounds.
If she keeps working day and night like this, her health will eventually suffer. Su Er will be joining the film crew in two days, and she'll probably be working day and night again.
I need to take good care of her these next couple of days.
Jiang Siyan swung his long arm, covered the girl with the blanket, turned off the light, and gently patted her back.
The movements were performed so smoothly that Su Er blinked in the dark and could only helplessly purse her lips.
When you're under someone's roof, you have no choice but to bow your head.
As time passed, her eyes widened like saucers, staring blankly at the chandelier on the ceiling.
She really couldn't sleep, so she idly fiddled with the buttons on Jiang Siyan's pajamas with her index finger.
But it was just a button, and she wasn't a toddler who had just learned to speak; she wouldn't stare at a button for half a day.
Su Er hesitated before asking, "Jiang Siyan, are you asleep?"
"Hmm?" He didn't change his posture of holding her, but this sound was his response.
Su Er got excited and asked him in a clear voice, "Do you know any places where I can eat authentic stir-fries, somewhere a little hidden away? I want to treat my friend to a meal before she goes back to Nancheng."
Jiang Siyan, with his eyes still closed, said, "Then let's go home. Tell Aunt Cui what you like and have the cook make it."
In the darkness of the night, Su Er's eyes flickered; in fact, she had considered it.
But the thought only flashed through her mind. She was only staying here temporarily. Hosting banquets and entertaining guests was not her right. Even just suggesting it would seem like a transgression that went too far.
But now, this idea, which she had rejected immediately, was being uttered so lightly by Jiang Siyan.
As he said this, Su Er, with her arm close to his, suddenly had a strange feeling, as if this really was their home, and that their love was sincere and passionate.
Su Er suddenly realized that some people are probably born with the ability to easily make others fall for them.
"Won't it be too much trouble?" Su Er asked hesitantly.
Jiang Siyan opened his eyes and seemed to see the hesitation and unease in her eyes.
He just smiled, pinched her cheek, and teased her, saying, "It is a bit troublesome."
Su Er didn't seem angry at all upon hearing this. Instead, she blinked casually and said, "Forget about the trouble. She and I were just planning to..."
Jiang Siyan took her hand, interrupting her, and laughed frivolously, "That's not the trouble."
The heat from his palm was still scalding through the fabric. Su Er suddenly pulled her hand out from under the covers, slapped him, and turned her back to him, saying, "You're annoying, I'm going to sleep."
Jiang Siyan hugged her from behind, stopped moving, and breathed a long sigh of relief behind her ear, saying, "How is your friend coming? Let Uncle Li pick her up. Cars from outside can't get in, so it'll save you trouble later."
"Mm," Su Er replied.
The moon rose above the treetops, and the cicadas chirped incessantly outside.
Su Er turned around, tilted her head back, and kissed him on the chin. "Goodnight, Jiang Siyan."
"Go to sleep. If you keep making a fuss, you really won't be sleeping tonight."
Upon hearing this, Su Er quickly closed her eyes. Perhaps it was because the embrace was so comforting that her originally restless heart gradually calmed down like the moonlight.
I slept exceptionally well that night.
Thinking about talking to Xi Wangshu about dinner that night, Su Er finally got up at eight o'clock in the morning.
Staggering downstairs, Jiang Siyan had already finished his breakfast.
"Little Er, you're up so early today. What would you like to eat? I'll have someone make it."
Su Er smiled sheepishly upon hearing Aunt Cui's words and said, "The usual three dishes are fine."
Her three staples: coffee, eggs, and bread.
She'd been indulging herself for a few days, so she needed to straighten out today, otherwise Sister Qin would be nagging her endlessly.
Jiang Siyan was dressed in a formal suit, the fabric pressed crisply and neatly, and the neatly tied dark blue tie added to his ascetic and refined temperament.
Su Er was stunned for a moment until Jiang Siyan pinched her cheek with a half-smile, and she came back to her senses.
