Chapter 157 Stepping on the Fox's Tail 12 The Banquet

Chapter 157 Stepping on the Fox's Tail 12 The Banquet

The wine flowed freely, and countless gorgeous gowns bloomed like flowers under the dazzling lights.

Yun Chiyi finally put on a deep purple off-the-shoulder dress. Her shoulder and neck lines were pleasing to the eye and elegant. She wore a pearl necklace with full, lustrous pearls like beautiful jade, and her fair earlobes were also adorned with a pair of diamond-encrusted pearls.

Holding a wine glass engraved with an angel motif, she chatted with each guest with ease.

As Li Aman said, this banquet should not be underestimated.

Yun Chi wanted to build connections, so she behaved very well at the banquet. Even Yun Yizhou thought highly of her, praising her for being sensible, proper, and beautiful.

As the banquet drew to a close, Yun Chiyi, arm in arm with Yun Yizhou, bid farewell to the several beautiful women.

She was a little drunk and couldn't see their faces clearly, so she just kept smiling to avoid arousing suspicion.

Yun Yizhou supported her arm to help her steady herself, and sighed, "Xiao Yi, are you drunk? Let Xiao Li take you home to rest?"

After finishing the last sip, Yun Chiyi smiled and said, "Okay, I'm going back to sleep now. Dad, come home early too."

Yun Yizhou pretended to scold: "Why are you still drinking!"

He grasped her slender wrist: "Go straight to bed tonight. If I find out you're fooling around outside, your mother and I will deal with you. Otherwise, you're coming back with me tonight?"

Yun Chiyi stuck out her tongue: "I'm not a child anymore, I can take care of myself."

She looked down to text Li Aman and noticed that the words on her phone were floating.

Yun Yizhou said helplessly, "You, just point out who you want to associate with, why do you have to get yourself so drunk? Dad will feel sorry for you, you know?"

Yun Chiyi couldn't stand it any longer and sat down on the red velvet sofa, casually replying, "I know, I know. You feel sorry for me, but I feel even more sorry for you. The only reason they're willing to toast with me is because of you. I can't let you help me with everything, otherwise they'll look down on me."

Yun Yizhou was both amused and exasperated: "You've grown up, you've become ambitious."

He waved to Li Aman, who was walking quickly towards him: "Take her back to rest and make her some hangover soup."

Li Aman responded with an "okay".

She helped Yun Chiyi, who was already starting to feel sleepy, to her feet, skillfully hooked her coat up, and then let her lean on her shoulder before methodically leading her into the car.

Yun Chiyi fell asleep in the back seat, covered with a thin blanket.

Li Aman glanced back and thought to herself that she hadn't drunk too much, at least she hadn't started vomiting yet.

Yun Chiyi hadn't drunk like this in a long time; her alcohol tolerance had probably decreased considerably.

Li Aman stepped on the gas, drove away from the palatial hotel, and headed down the mountain.

A light drizzle fell on the spring night. The windshield wipers slowly swept past her eyes. Li Aman yawned and drove steadily, following the navigation.

It was dark at night, and as she drove around the bend, she turned on her high beams.

Suddenly, a white shadow flashed past in the tree, startling her. Li Aman's heart pounded, and for the first time, she looked in panic at the rearview mirror, but there was nothing in the tree.

You might have misread it.

At this moment, Yun Chiyi, who was in the back seat, sat up while holding onto the back of the chair. Her cheeks were fair with a rosy glow, her eyes were still hazy, and her lips reeked of alcohol, but her voice was the calmest.

"Don't stop, don't look back, keep driving."

Li Aman reflexively gripped the steering wheel, his back taut.

Yun Chiyi forced herself to stay upright, suppressing the urge to vomit: "Where's my bag...?"

Li Aman took a moment to hand her the small silver bag from the passenger seat. Yun Chiyi slumped back into her seat, her hands trembling from the alcohol as she fumbled inside the bag.

[Host, I couldn't see it very clearly, but I saw it had wings; it should be a bird demon.]

Yun Chiyi found the Bagua mirror and held it in her hand. At this point, she could only accept her bad luck. Fortunately, there were many vehicles coming and going on the mountain road, so she wouldn't be alone.

She turned around and peered out the back window to observe what was behind her.

However, firstly, the light was dim at night, and secondly, her vision was impaired due to drunkenness, so she couldn't see the bird demon at all.

She opened the back window and reached out to wed the Bagua mirror outside.

She spent six figures to buy this magical artifact from a demon hunter. If it's useless, and something goes wrong, she'll go back and hold the demon hunter accountable.

The system said: [Disappeared.]

Yun Chiyi breathed a sigh of relief and leaned back weakly in her chair.

"How much longer until we reach the city?" Yun Chiyi asked.

Li Aman regained her composure: "Three minutes."

Yun Chiyi nodded her chin: "The roads are slippery in the rain, don't rush."

Li Aman stared intently at the mountain path that was about to end, but once she became too focused, her mind became uncontrollably active.

What is that? A mountain spirit?

No, no, no, she was a staunch materialist; talk of ghosts and gods was just a way to fool the rich.

Halfway up the mountain, a human-headed, bird-bodied monster, about half a person's height, crouched on a huge rock.

From his open, bloody mouth dripped murky saliva, accompanied by gurgling sounds in his throat: "What beautiful humans, their flesh must be incredibly delicious."

Unfortunately, she had a Bagua mirror for exorcising evil spirits. He was wary of that thing, and images of tearing flesh and blood flashed through his mind, causing him to drool incessantly.

Unable to bear it any longer, the bird demon leaped off the rocks.

"Let me see where these beautiful humans live."

When the car arrived in the city center, Li Aman stopped to get some hangover soup. Yun Chiyi leaned against the car window, her hand dangling outside, holding the rope of the Bagua mirror, watching the endless stream of pedestrians with a bored expression.

It was a quiet time on the mountain, but the city was still bustling.

A tall figure blocked the light from the streetlamp. He bent down, his narrow eyes half-closed: "Mr. Yun, why have you drunk so much?"

Yun Chiyi narrowed her dark eyes: "Qi Shu, it's a bit of a coincidence."

It wasn't a coincidence; Qi Shu lived nearby, sensed her presence, and instantly appeared here after putting on his clothes.

Qi Shu smiled and said after a long while, "I came out for a run and saw your car."

Yun Chiyi was drowsy and didn't continue the conversation.

She lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes casting shadows on her flushed cheeks.

Qi Shu gazed into the distance and muttered, "What an annoying tail."

For minor demons like this, he could easily make them back down with a flick of his finger.

Qi Shu smiled as he looked at Yun Chiyi's drowsy sleeping face. A hint of calculation was hidden in the corner of his mouth. The Bagua mirror in her hand was making his eyes uncomfortable. He was sure that she would soon realize that she could not protect herself with these magical artifacts. When that time came, it would not be too late for him to make his move.

Five minutes later, Li Aman returned with a small bowl of hangover soup. When she saw Qi Shu standing beside her with a grin, she frowned.

She admired Qi Shu's appearance, but he seemed a bit strange, gloomy, completely different from her first interview impression.

Li Aman woke Yun Chiyi up and put her back in the back seat: "Little Yun, sit down. I'll take you home to sleep."

Yun Chiyi leaned back in her seat, her heel landing precisely on the button to close the window.

Qi Shu's lips twitched. Yun Chiyi seemed to dislike him.

Or perhaps, she simply has an arrogant personality.

It was getting late, so Yun Chiyi only asked Li Aman to escort her downstairs. Li Aman was worried, so she watched Yun Chiyi carry the hangover soup into the elevator and then saw her figure appear in the corridor before she felt at ease and left.

Yun Chiyi dragged her unsteady steps, her strides heading in a chaotic and disorderly direction.

She wanted a late-night snack.

It's very simple, just let the white fox do it.

She bypassed her own door and leaned against the iron gate next door. She curled her slender, white fingers as if to knock, but the door opened inward. She lost her footing and fell inside, but a strong arm caught her just in time.

Yun Chiyi lay face down and saw a pair of black slippers and a pair of long, slender legs.

"President Yun, it's you..."

Yun Chiyi responded by supporting his shoulder, tilting her head back and smiling. The pungent smell of alcohol mingled with her own body fragrance.

"I want to eat a midnight snack."

Lin Yuche helped her stand up straight: "You're drunk."

Yun Chiyi retorted, "Nonsense, my head is perfectly clear, it's just a little buzzing."

She repeatedly pleaded, "I want a midnight snack, cook me some wontons."

As soon as she finished speaking, she stumbled and bumped into the wall. Lin Yuche reached out to block her, and her slender arm bumped into his palm, the hot, soft flesh being squeezed.

Yun Chiyi, rubbing her eyes open, looked at him: "Lin Yuche, aren't you going to sleep yet...?"

He started rambling incoherently and claimed he wasn't drunk.

Lin Yuche disliked the smell of alcohol on her and planned to send her back to sleep, not letting her linger there.

Yun Chiyi's eyelids were drooping, and unable to resist the sleepiness, she slid down against the wall.

Lin Yuche reacted quickly and caught her again. She was still holding the hangover soup in her hand, and not a drop was spilled.

Her fingers loosened, and Lin Yuche took the hangover soup from her hand and placed it on the shoe cabinet.

Her soft, lingering breaths indirectly told Lin Yuche that she was fast asleep, completely unguarded, and the carefree Yun Zong was asleep in his arms.

Lin Yuche tried to wake her, but to no avail.

He couldn't let her continue sleeping in his arms, so Lin Yuche picked her up with one hand. Her soft chin rested on his shoulder, and her long, fragrant hair tickled his neck. The purple dress they had chosen together enveloped his arm.

He frowned slightly, took a couple of steps, and suddenly realized that he couldn't get her into her room.

In this situation, it's practically impossible to get the password out of Yun Chiyi.

Lin Yuche stood there, conflicted, until he heard Yun Chiyi cough uncomfortably. She drowsily wrapped her soft arms around his shoulders and neck, her alabaster skin pressing against his veins.

She whispered, "I want to sleep."

He heard it, a heart pounding wildly, though he didn't know whose heart it was.

Lin Yuche's eyes welled up with tears, his gaze shifting and changing. He regained his composure and seized the opportunity to ask her, "President Yun, what's the password to your home?"

Yun Chiyi responded, "Yes, that's right."

Lin Yuche gave up. He closed the door behind him, carried Yun Chiyi into the bedroom, took off her shoes, tidied her quilt, and then locked the door from the outside.

After finishing these things, he sat on the sofa and stared into the darkness at the closed door.

The sweet fragrance still lingered on him. He stretched out his hands and examined them closely in the night. Perhaps he shouldn't stay in the house any longer.
