Chapter 158 Stepping on the Fox's Tail 13 Towels
Yun Chiyi can fall asleep as soon as she lies down. In the middle of the night, she turns over and sleeps on her stomach, sleeping soundly until dawn. She never feels like she has enough sleep.
As dawn broke, dappled sunlight fell on her snow-white cheeks. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly, and for a moment she didn't realize that she usually liked to sleep with the curtains drawn.
She had drunk too much last night. With her eyes half-closed, she struggled to climb out of her warm bed, and unexpectedly slipped and fell, making a loud "thud".
Yun Chiyi groaned and covered her forehead. Was it her imagination? Why did the bed seem higher?
The door was gently pushed open, revealing half of Lin Yuche's body. Seeing that she was safe and sound, all the emotions that had been swirling in his eyes returned to their original state.
"Is President Yun awake?"
Yun Chiyi, wrapped in half a blanket, lay on the ground. Upon hearing this, she turned around in surprise, looking at him with tears welling up in her eyes.
What are you doing in my room?
Lin Yuche sighed almost imperceptibly: "This is my home."
"Ah... I see... How did I end up in your bed?"
She grabbed the edge of the bed and struggled to sit up. Her migraine and the injury from the fall were intertwined, and she felt a splitting headache. Even with slight blinking, her temples felt like they had been subjected to some great stimulation, throbbing restlessly.
Yun Chiyi's vision was blurry, and she gasped for breath, "Help me up."
Lin Yuche took two steps at a time and squatted down. He helped her up, but Yun Chiyi's legs were weak and she fell into his arms without warning, knocking his raised knee back to the ground.
"I feel like I'm going to die. I should have drunk the hangover soup before going to sleep last night," Yun Chiyi murmured to herself, nestled against Lin Yuche's chest.
Lin Yuche frowned and gently supported her with both hands: "President Yun, should we go to the hospital to get checked out?"
Yun Chiyi shook her head: "I'm not going. Xiao Li will tell on me, and my family will keep asking me questions."
She raised her snow-white fingers and pressed them against her temples, saying in a soft voice, "Please heat up a towel and apply it to my temples."
Li Aman had used this method to relieve her headaches before, and she knew it worked.
Yun Chiyi pursed her sickly red lips and smiled slightly: "Thank you for your trouble."
This unexpected politeness made Lin Yuche realize that the relationship between the two was quite ordinary, and he quickly and easily suppressed the discomfort in his heart.
Lin Yuche half-supported and half-carried her, letting her lean against the headboard.
He went to the bathroom, wet the towel, wrung it out with his long fingers, folded it into a neat square, and stood by the bed to hand the towel to Yun Chiyi.
Yun Chiyi didn't even have the strength to raise her hand. She squinted and looked at Lin Yuche with a confused expression for a few seconds.
As the warmth from the towel gradually dissipated, Lin Yuche's patience slowly waned. He took the towel, sat sideways on the edge of the bed, and pressed his palm against Yun Chiyi's cheek.
Yun Chi sighed, "Much more comfortable."
Lin Yuche was unaware that Yun Chiyi's eyes had become more mischievous. Her warm breath warmed her fair skin, and a faint fragrance wafted from her tiny pores, as if invisible threads were binding his fingers, wrists, and forearms.
Her lips were red and her teeth were white. Her mouth was slightly open, and her breath was as sweet as orchids. Lin Yuche's gaze unconsciously moved to her soft lips. He just stared at her silently, without feeling a throbbing or desire in his heart.
Buzz—buzz—
The small brown handbag, tidied up in the bedside table, vibrated.
Yun Chiyi reminded her, "It's my phone."
The pleasant voice brought Lin Yuche back to his senses, and he took it with one hand and handed it to Yun Chiyi.
She answered the phone deftly, tilting her head slightly into his palm.
"Xiao Li, I'm next door."
Strands of her hair fell between his fingers, and Lin Yuche's eyes naturally lowered.
Yun Chiyi chuckled softly, and Lin Yuche suddenly lifted his long eyelashes to meet her smiling, starry eyes.
"Could you open the door for Xiao Li? She seems to have something urgent to tell me."
Lin Yuche asked, "Is Mr. Yun's headache gone?"
Yun Chiyi instantly suppressed her smile and continued acting: "Yes, it's a little better, thanks to you."
Lin Yuche put away the now-warm towel, his face expressionless. He turned to open the door, where he stared at the shocked Li Aman.
"Xiao Li, come in."
Yun Chiyi's voice came from the inner room, which sounded like Lin Yuche's bedroom.
Li Aman clenched her fists. Yun Chiyi wasn't the type to act recklessly when drunk; at most, she was just too drunk to pay attention. Li Aman comforted herself with this thought as she walked in with a numb expression.
Yun Chiyi warmly invited her to sit down: "Sit over here a bit, my head hurts, I'm afraid I won't be able to hear you clearly."
Lin Yuche followed behind Li Aman, and she kept an eye on him out of the corner of her eye.
This aloof, ice-sculpt-like person has obsessive-compulsive disorder about cleanliness, something Li Aman noticed while working at the company.
Li Aman took two steps back to the wall and said, "Ms. Xiaoyun, there are a few important documents that need your signature. I've left them in your living room."
Yun Chiyi was covered with a gray blanket, her pinkish-purple outfit seemingly swallowed by dark clouds, yet her smile was bright, and she asked, "Do I need to sign right away?"
Li Aman said, "It's not that important."
After a pause, Li Aman remembered something else: "Madam cooked some meat porridge and had someone deliver it this morning. I brought it over when I ran into her. Xiaoyun, would you like to wash up and have something to eat?"
Nan Xizhao is a good cook. She is usually busy and rarely cooks. Yun Chiyi had been hungry since last night. As soon as she heard that there was meat porridge made by her, she immediately got out of bed with great energy.
She landed on the ground and looked up to meet Lin Yuche's clear, black and white eyes.
She could actually detect a hint of annoyance in his unchanging gaze.
He probably blames her for lying to him again.
It wasn't a complete lie; at least the pain in the beginning was real.
Yun Chiyi smiled and said to him, "Thank you for taking me in last night. I'm just offering you my mother's cooking. I'm doing you a favor by borrowing your gift."
Lin Yuche said, "No need."
Everyone says he was indeed throwing a tantrum, but he kept it inside so no one could tell.
Yun Chiyi's smile remained unchanged: "I guess today is for you to sign your pay slips. There are a few points I'll explain to you in person. If you don't want to come, that's fine too. Don't ask me if there's anything you don't understand later."
This is her true nature; she doesn't like to plead or beg, but prefers to threaten subtly.
Lin Yuche stared at him for a long time, his dark eyes gleaming, revealing a hint of anger.
Yun Chiyi ignored it and asked Li Aman to prepare an extra bowl.
In the end, Lin Yuche went over anyway and was the first to taste Nan Xizhao's cooking.
It contained shredded ginger, and Lin Yuche knew it as soon as he tasted it. The spicy and stimulating flavor exploded on his taste buds. He only scooped out a small half bowl, but he finished it all.
Yun Chiyi went to wash up and change her clothes before coming out to eat breakfast.
She ate slowly, her every move elegant and graceful. After finishing her meal, as agreed, she explained the adjustments to the salary structure to Lin Yuche.
Just as stipulated in the contract, she didn't try anything underhanded.
Lin Yuche felt that she had indeed changed. He never expected that one day the word "integrity" would be associated with her.
-
The next day, the sun shone brightly, and Yun Chiyi went to the company after she had slept enough.
She convened a meeting with the publicity department and several successful artists.
Aibai is back today. The little girl got quite tanned after going out, but her eyes are bright and she looks very energetic.
Ai Bai is beautiful and has a radiant aura, but she's a bit quiet.
She sat quietly in the corner, glancing at the room full of good-looking male celebrities.
She was quite familiar with Zhao Muqing and had also met Lin Yuche a few times, but because he was so aloof and intimidating, she consciously avoided him.
A new employee joined the company. A handsome young man with striking features sat opposite her, and from the moment she entered until now, he had only glanced at her indifferently.
No wonder a newcomer can sit in a meeting with the seniors; this type is totally Yun Chiyi's type!
Yun Chiyi sat in the head seat, gently pressing her forehead. She understood Ai Bai's cautious and probing gaze. To anyone else, she looked like a psychopath who collected handsome men.
The first person sitting to her right is Zhao Muqing, who is currently the company's "number one" but is only a second-tier artist. He has been behaving himself and not causing trouble lately, so Yun Chi doesn't find him annoying anymore.
No one spoke. Zhao Muqing crossed her arms and chuckled, "Mr. Yun, didn't you have something to discuss?"
She still had that frivolous and arrogant attitude. Yun Chiyi smiled without saying a word, and she withdrew her foolish idea.
Li Aman coughed lightly to interrupt the commotion, and turned on the projector: "Today, Xiaoyun will mainly be talking to everyone about persona and positioning."
Yun Chiyi sipped her coffee and nodded in agreement: "That's right, even if it's acting, it has to be flawless."
Zhao Muqing said, "I don't need a persona, Xiaoyun. My fans prefer the real me."
Yun Chiyi glanced sideways, a forced smile on her face: "Shut up."
Zhao Muqing gritted her teeth: "I..."
Yun Chiyi stopped smiling, her eyes turning cold: "If you don't want to listen, then get out."
Everyone looked over. Rumors circulated in the company that Zhao Muqing had fallen out of favor. Yun Chiyi had rarely met with him in the past two months, so it was difficult to tell whether it was true or not. This incident just happened to prove that the absurdity of him fawning over her had come to an end.
Ignoring the stares of others, Yun Chiyi turned her chair around, crossed her slender legs, and said, "Xiao Li, please continue."
Li Aman spoke again, clarifying the character settings of the group.
Other people are not much different from me; they all have some contrasting and shining points added to their personality.
But Lin Yuche was completely the opposite. Yun Chiyi had given him the persona of a quiet and gentle man, the kind of boy next door who silently gives his all.
Everyone looked at each other in disbelief. The indifferent and heartless Lin Yuche in front of them was completely unrelated to this persona!
Could Yun Chiyi be deliberately trying to annoy him?
Lin Yuche sat down, his eyelashes obscuring his expression, his hands resting on the table in a relaxed and natural manner.
There wasn't a single flaw that allowed anyone to pry into it; as always, it quietly kept people at a distance.
Anyone present could see that he was excessively cold-hearted, as if the blood flowing through his body was cold and his breath was as clear and cold as mist.
As Yun Chiyi finished the meeting, she called out to Lin Yuche as he stood up, "Lin Yuche, stay here. I have something to say to you."
The others passed by Lin Yuche one by one. He stood quietly, waiting for Li Aman, who was sitting at the back, to close the door.
Yun Chiyi smiled and said, "You're standing too far away."
