Chapter 21 The Fake Heiress's Escape from Marriage 21: White Chocolate
"Are you Yun Chiyi's friend?"
Gong Mufeng looked extremely tired, and his newly grown beard was unkempt. He scanned Wen Yanyan up and down, recognizing her somewhat; she seemed to get along well with Yun Chiyi.
I just can't remember her name.
After sizing him up, Gong Mufeng revealed a mocking smile.
Wen Yan Yan subconsciously swallowed and nodded in a seemingly indifferent manner.
She stared at her toes, not wanting to get entangled with Gong Mufeng any longer, and planned to leave after saying goodbye.
The moment she turned around, Gong Mufeng spoke again: "Hey."
Wen Yan Yan clenched her fists and turned around stiffly: "Young Master Gong, what is it?"
Gong Mufeng looked at the snack basket in her hand: "You bought so much stuff?"
Wen Yan Yan's heart was pounding, as fast as a drum. Gu Chi couldn't find her, so he came here. The moment he saw Gong Mu Feng, he screamed.
The atmosphere was already tense, and with Gu Chi's outburst, Gong Mufeng seemed on the verge of going berserk.
Gong Mufeng stared at Gu Chi with amusement: "You are Yun Chiyi's stepson. If I remember correctly, you were born the year she went missing, right?"
A seemingly random remark left Gu Chi stunned.
He was naive and inexperienced, but he still knew that his birth had always been a topic of discussion.
Gu Zhao was proud to have a child with the surname Gu, and she hated it when people said that she was a traitor and had an affair. Such talk outside the home was absolutely forbidden.
Gu Chi pursed his lips tightly at this moment; his presence was taboo.
His unhappiness was so obvious that Wen Yanyan immediately sensed it.
She frowned, her mood unusually irritable.
Seeing their trembling silence, Gong Mufeng chuckled twice: "As family, you should know more about Gu Zhao's treacherous ways."
Gong Mufeng looked around: "On another note, since you're all here, isn't Yun Chiyi here too?"
No one responded to him.
Gong Mufeng strode towards them, and Gu Chi, for reasons unknown, spread his arms to shield Wen Yanyan.
He was clearly terrified; his legs were shaking, and his voice was so soft it was almost inaudible.
She...is not...here.
Wen Yanyan looked at his thin back with suspicion. His act of standing up to play the hero seemed a bit off.
Gong Mufeng sneered, the redness in the corners of his eyes refusing to fade: "What the hell are you doing?"
He was like a ghost, his shoulders slumped as he drifted away.
After a long while, Wen Yanyan and Gu Chi both realized that their palms were sweaty.
How did Gong Mufeng become like this?
I heard he lives a life of debauchery, partying day and night. When he gets tired of bars, he goes to luxury cruise ships to throw swimsuit parties, and when he gets really into it, he pours all the food and drinks into the sea.
Wen Yan Yan had no doubt about the credibility of these things.
The four of them met before setting off.
Yun Chiyi sighed heavily when she learned that Gong Mufeng had appeared in a daze.
What to do? Just hearing his name annoys me.
Lin Jishen listened calmly, checked his luggage, and then sat in the driver's seat with a faint smile on his thin lips.
Yun Chiyi instinctively turned her head, her dark eyes trying to find the reason behind his smile.
Seeing that everything was going in the direction he expected, how could he just walk away?
Lin Jishen glanced at him out of the corner of his eye: "What are you looking at?"
Yun Chiyi said, "I think I need to have mind-reading abilities next time."
Lin Jishen smiled faintly, the afterglow of the setting sun falling on his high, straight nose.
Yun Chiyi saw in the rearview mirror that the two people who had been shopping at the snack shop all afternoon had fallen asleep. She adjusted her seat and changed to a more comfortable sitting position.
"Are you really going camping with us? Can you put down what you're doing?"
Lin Chi-shen said, "I don't like being in the eye of the storm."
Yun Chiyi blinked, and she understood a little of what he meant.
She exclaimed, "So fast?"
Lin Jishen's eyes were calm as he gazed ahead. "Is it fast? I think it's just right."
From childhood to now, time has indeed flown by.
Those memories are fading, but the temperature of that fire keeps rising.
Lin Ji's deep breathing became calm, and then a porcelain-white hand reached out in front of him, followed by a clear and melodious voice.
"We still have three hours to go. Shall we have some chocolate to replenish our energy?"
Yun Chiyi already had a candy in her mouth.
Lin Jishen looked down at the white chocolate she had peeled between her fingers: "A trick to coax children."
Yun Chi tilted her head in confusion: "I don't understand what you mean. Should we eat it or not?"
Lin Jishen opened his lips and bit Bai Qiao with his teeth. He touched Yun Chiyi's fingers, and the warm touch traveled down his lips into his throat.
His throat tightened, and he even looked away out of the corner of his eye.
It was already evening when they arrived. Wen Yanyan and Gu Chi woke up briefly along the way, opened the SUV window, and peered out. Wen Yanyan even greeted pedestrians on the street.
Sometimes, when Yun Chiyi looked at them, she would inexplicably yawn several times.
She ate a lot of candy in the car and drove for half an hour while switching hands.
They parked the car on the lawn next to the hotel and waited for Yun Chiyi to come over and unlock the gate.
This is a mountain villa that is not frequently used, but it is very clean. There are flowers inside and outside the yard, and the cool moonlight shines down from the hillside. If you listen carefully, you can hear birds chirping in the wind.
Holding her sketchbook, Wen Yanyan looked up at the wood-themed living room and said, "I wish I could live here forever."
Yun Chiyi yawned: "I'm hungry."
She immediately spotted the best spot on the rooftop and headed towards the open-air restaurant. The stairs were made of solid wood, and she ran up them, making a creaking sound.
Seeing the swing made of vines, she sat down and said to Lin Jishen, who was slowly walking over, "Let's have hot pot tonight."
Lin Jishen replied, "Sure, lots of people, it'll be lively."

At the same time, in an inconspicuous old residential area on Chishui Street, a gaunt middle-aged man leaned against the wall to go upstairs. He panted as he climbed to the fifth floor, and when he looked up, his sunken eyes were swallowed by the darkness of the stairwell.
Several people stood in front of his house, their uniformly serious faces blocking any breathing space he could get.
They seem to know.
The middle-aged man felt a sudden dizziness, and he could no longer see anything.
Before losing consciousness, he clearly heard a sentence.
"...Where were you on the rainy night of the 18th? Can anyone confirm that?"
He thought of the old tree at the village entrance, and those eyes that looked like dead fish piercing through the leaves.
Tonight will be another rainy day, but tomorrow will be a sunny day.
At the Gong family home, during breakfast time, Gong Mufeng was surprisingly home today.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Gong Hanlu brought Gong Mufeng from the dimly lit room to the dining table. Recently, too many things had happened that were beyond his control, but Gong Mufeng's downfall was entirely within his expectations.
He looked at Gong Mufeng, who angrily stabbed at the slices of bread with his knife and fork, making a mess of the soft-boiled egg on top.
Gong Hanlu gritted his teeth, his jaw grinding: "What have you been doing these past few months?"
Upon hearing this, Gong Mufeng threw down his knife and fork, picked up his bag, and leaned back in his chair: "What's there to ask? Aren't you going to send people to monitor me?"
Gong Hanlu suppressed his anger: "Can't you put away your playful mindset? You don't do anything serious all day long."
Gong Mufeng coldly replied, "Oh."
Just as the father and son were about to start arguing, Gong Hanlu's assistant hurriedly drove to the Gong family home.
It's still early, I wonder what's causing this rush.
The assistant wiped the sweat from his forehead and anxiously whispered in Gong Hanlu's ear, "This morning we received several messages from shareholders saying they couldn't attend the meeting. It's a bit strange; they all said they were sick."
Gong Hanlu frowned, feeling that it was such a small matter that his assistant didn't need to make a special trip over.
He glanced at his son across from him, and Gong Mufeng saw the anxious look on his face, but also a hint of joy in his eyes.
"What's wrong?"
Gong Hanlu gestured for his assistant to continue, "Anything else?"
The assistant lowered his voice: "The money that was transferred out last year has been investigated."
Although his voice was low, Gong Mufeng still heard a few words. He never interfered in the affairs of Gong Hanlu's company, but he knew a little about Gong Hanlu's business methods. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he had repeatedly tested the bottom line of the law.
That sum of money was huge, and it was clearly handled very discreetly, so how could it have been discovered? Gong Hanlu's hands were trembling with anger, and he continued to ask defiantly, "Is there more?"
The assistant first looked at Gong Mufeng, hesitating and not speaking directly; "Last night, the company's legal department received a video call request..."
Gong Hanlu said, "There's no need to hide it; he should know how to handle company matters by now."
The assistant took a deep breath and quickened his pace: "The video was released by Wang Jianjia. He's going to hold a press conference and says he'll expose the truth about everything that happened to the Lin family back then."
He immediately lowered his head after he finished speaking.
Gong Mufeng ate his breakfast slowly, several thoughts flashing through his mind.
The Lin family? Which Lin family?
The truth, what is the truth?
Suddenly, he thought of what Wang Jianjia had done at the birthday banquet on Gong Hanlu Road, and for some reason, he was reminded of the cry of "Fire!"
Does this mean the Lin family's fire was also related to Gonghan Road?
Gong Hanlu was exhausted after breakfast. He dismissed his assistant and wearily called Gong Mufeng to his study.
"These things don't seem like coincidences. I'm afraid someone is behind this, using the Lin family as bait to try and take down the group."
Gong Mufeng walked past his desk, picked up the pen on it, and twirled it in his hand: "So you're saying you started the fire at the Lin family's house?"
Gong Hanlu slammed his hand on the desk: "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Gong Mufeng braced himself on the desk with both hands and looked at Gong Hanlu: "So what if you did it? Don't make such a fuss. I've never thought of you as a righteous person. It's normal for this kind of thing to happen to you."
He said nonchalantly, "Besides, so many years have passed, and everything related to the Lin family has turned to ashes. Wang Jianjia is a madman. You can have his medical records sent to the media and see who still believes what he says."
Gong Hanlu stared at him with deep, melancholy eyes.
"Even if there is evidence, you can just say he fabricated it. Isn't the Ministry of Justice quite good at this kind of thing?"
Gong Mufeng then said disdainfully, "Heh, if I had known, I should have beaten Wang Jianjia to death that night. It would have saved him from causing trouble even after his company went bankrupt."
He had finally shown some initiative, so Gong Hanlu reluctantly tolerated his arrogant words: "You handle this matter."
Gong Mufeng said doubtfully, "It's none of my business. I have somewhere to go later."
Gong Hanlu tapped the table with his knuckles: "You are my son, Gong Hanlu's son."
"I am not worthy of those two words."
In Gong Mufeng's mind, these troubles were problems that Gong Hanlu could easily solve with a wave of his hand, so he didn't take them to heart. Under Gong Hanlu's angry glare, he took his pen, changed his clothes, and went out.
