Chapter 80 The Delinquent School Beauty Transfer Student 21 Nightmare
On Thursday morning, the day the students had been looking forward to was the sports meet. After arriving at the classroom, Yun Chiyi put her hands in her pockets and looked around.
Lin Hengzhi hadn't arrived yet; unexpectedly, he could be late too.
"Have you been too tired from basketball training lately?" Yun Chiyi chuckled, then reached into her pocket and found a bag of candy. She calmly took it out and looked at it. They had bought it over the weekend. She had wanted to save some for Meng Yuan to try, but Meng Yuan had firmly refused and told her to take it away, saying that even looking at it made her teeth hurt.
Never mind, she'll get a toothache if she eats too much.
She took the candy out and placed it on Lin Hengzhi's table.
Just as I sat down, Lin Hengzhi walked in, looking exhausted and like he hadn't slept well.
He first glanced at Yun Chiyi, who was hiding behind a book reading a novel, and then suddenly noticed the candy on the table. Yun Chiyi noticed his gaze, looked up from behind the book, revealed her pearly white teeth, greeted him, and then became engrossed in the novel again.
Lin Hengzhi walked over and calmly placed the candy on the corner of the table.
Yun Chiyi tilted her head and lowered her voice: "Didn't your alarm clock go off?"
He woke up a few minutes late today and was delayed on the way, so he naturally knew what Yun Chiyi was talking about.
"I don't need an alarm clock; I always wake up naturally."
Yun Chiyi mimicked his voice softly, then shook her head and smiled gently: "Why do you have dark circles under your eyes? Did you have a nightmare and not sleep well?"
Unexpectedly, Lin Hengzhi said something surprising: "I dreamed about you."
Yun Chiyi was stunned. Had he lost his mind and started having erotic dreams?
Seeing the resistance in her eyes, as if she had misunderstood, Lin Hengzhi pressed his temples and said, "It's nothing, just a nightmare."
"Nightmare?"
Yun Chiyi put down her book and said with a serious face, "Dreaming about me is still a nightmare. Who do you think you are?"
She turned Lin Hengzhi's head and forced him to look at her: "Look at me properly, I'm so beautiful, you're lucky to have dreamed about me."
Lin Hengzhi's gaze sharpened, then turned slightly cold, his eyes narrowing as he lowered his head: "It was a nightmare."
He wasn't in a good mood, so Yun Chiyi didn't tease him and asked curiously, "So, what did you dream about?"
After she finished speaking, she casually crossed her legs and swung her toes lightly, seemingly unconcerned about Lin Hengzhi's answer; she was simply listening to the young man's thoughts and that was it.
On the right, Lin Hengzhi spoke softly, "It's just a dream, you'll be fine."
Actually, Yun Chiyi only needed to finish asking her questions. Her gaze was focused on her book. She waited for Chen Xi to come over and explain the precautions before everyone went to the playground to gather.
As the autumn wind rose, the energetic shouts shook the leaves to their very core. Yun Chiyi, sandwiched in the group, joined in chanting the class slogan. Who came up with that slogan? It was so tongue-twisting that she almost bit her tongue.
After all the classes had assembled and the national anthem was played, they were about to listen to the school leaders read their speeches. Yun Chiyi was tired of standing and wanted to squat down for a while. She had only squatted halfway down when Lin Hengzhi from the boys' group next to her reached out without looking to the side, grabbed her by the collar, and lifted her up.
Yun Chiyi staggered twice, but gritted her teeth and insisted on standing.
After the leaders finished speaking, Yun Chiyi felt like she was about to wilt from the sun. As soon as she got to her seat in the classroom, even though it was on the cold, hard steps, she couldn't wait to sit down.
It doesn't seem... that cold.
Lin Hengzhi slowly walked over, looking down: "You sat on my backpack."
Yun Chi glanced at it, looking weak and apologetic: "I'm sorry, I didn't see you. I won't sit down."
She got up and moved around, muttering to herself, "The dew hasn't evaporated yet, and the steps are so icy. Can't we all get a cushion?"
Before her bottom even touched the new spot, Lin Hengzhi pressed down on her shoulders with both hands and pushed her back onto her backpack.
"Isn't this unnecessary?" Yun Chiyi narrowed her eyes. "Thank you, class monitor. You're so kind."
Lin Hengzhi turned around to organize the students with good writing skills to write encouraging speeches. Yun Chiyi bent her knees, cupped her face in her hands, and followed the slender but not weak figure with her eyes. When he turned around unintentionally, he met Lin Hengzhi's amused gaze. Lin Hengzhi's eyes narrowed, and he continued talking to the other students.
Below the stands, the sports events began one after another. Some people couldn't sit still and went down to watch the competition. The high jump is always very attractive to the audience, and it was crowded with people early on, with occasional exclamations.
A few minutes later, Yun Chiyi had already picked up her romance novel again. A shadow was cast on the book, covering half a page. Without even looking up, Yun Chiyi knew who it was: "Class monitor, you're such a good writer, why don't you write any cheering speeches? Are you afraid that if you write too many, the announcer won't be able to read them all?"
She placed the book upside down on her lap and laughed triumphantly, bathed in the morning light.
Lin Hengzhi glanced at the title of the book in her hand, "The Campus Prince Falls in Love with Me," and remembered that she had also read other books such as "The Overbearing Demon King's Gentle Pampering," "Lawyer Brother, Hug Me," and "Forensic Doctor, Don't Make Trouble." His slightly furrowed brows deepened: "Can't you read something good?"
Yun Chiyi looked utterly helpless: "There are just no good books out there, and the crime fiction author doesn't have any new works either. How about you write one for me?"
Lin Hengzhi looked away.
After Yun Chiyi finished speaking, she was also speechless.
Lin Hengzhi really did intend to write, but only after high school.
It was truly a case of bringing up the very thing she didn't want to talk about. Yun Chiyi closed the book and casually tossed it into Lin Hengzhi's hands, which he barely managed to catch.
Yun Chiyi lifted one foot and stepped on the step beneath her buttocks: "This book isn't all rubbish. You can study it when you have time; who knows, you might find it useful when you're dating in the future."
Having rested enough, she stood up, looked down at Lin Hengzhi, and said softly, "Don't always have such a stern face. Being cold and aloof isn't appealing. But that's not entirely true either; perhaps there are people who specifically like your type."
She smiled after she finished speaking and waved downwards: "Jiajia, Xiaoya, wait for me!"
Wang Jiajia called from below, "Hurry up, we need to go to the convenience store to buy water."
Yun Chiyi ran away in a flash.
Lin Hengzhi remained rooted to the spot. Just now, her breath had been so close, almost touching his neck. He pursed his lips, saw the pink book in his hand, and disdainfully tossed it aside.
Seeing this, the girls in the class stepped forward and said, "Class monitor, if you're not going to look at it, can we borrow it?"
Lin Hengzhi said, "It wasn't mine to begin with."
Several girls, as if they had found a treasure, hid in the shade around the book, occasionally letting out strange laughs.
Yun Chiyi was naturally unaware of what was happening here. She hadn't returned since she left, but instead dragged Wang Jiajia and Xin Xiaoya out of the school to keep her promise to treat them to milk tea.
The three of them stood in front of the milk tea stall. Wang Jiajia bent over to look at the words on the billboard, counting on her fingers: "Boss, I want matcha flavor, with red beans..."
She paused, then read it out in one breath: "And tapioca pearls, taro paste, coconut jelly, taro balls, and popping boba."
Yun Chiyi also leaned over to look at the words and asked, "If you want porridge, just say so. The convenience store has eight-treasure porridge."
Wang Jiajia said, "I've finally waited for you to treat me, so of course I'm going to rip you off."
Yun Chi smiled smugly and turned to ask Xin Xiaoya what she wanted to drink.
After hesitating for a long time, Xin Xiaoya only drank one cup of strawberry milk tea with pearls. Compared to the huge cup in Wang Jiajia's hand, her milk tea looked pitiful.
Despite Wang Jiajia's repeated attempts to persuade them not to be polite with Yun Chiyi, Xin Xiaoya's words almost choked both of them to death.
She held up three fingers and solemnly declared, "I signed up for the 3,000-meter race, so I can't eat anything."
Yun Chiyi choked on a red bean that tasted like a green apple until her face turned red. She pounded her chest twice before swallowing it. Meanwhile, Wang Jiajia was choking on a cup of eight-treasure porridge and couldn't speak.
Xin Xiaoya, her face serious yet expectant, slowly explained in sign language, "I want to try."
Unconsciously, Yun Chi smiled and looked up at the azure sky.
This was Xin Xiaoya's first time signing up for a sports meet event. The three of them came up with several strategies overnight, but it was basically Wang Jiajia's idea. The ranking wasn't important; the goal was to get Xin Xiaoya to finish the race.
As soon as the sun came out, Yun Chiyi woke up, got up quickly to wash up, and arrived at school earlier than usual.
After checking on Xin Xiaoya's condition that day, she returned to the classroom just as Lin Hengzhi entered. Lin Hengzhi had dark circles under his eyes. When he saw Yun Chiyi, he hesitated to speak, and then saw her bustling around the classroom, even asking the PE students about the precautions for running the 3,000 meters. He was somewhat surprised, and at the same time, the dejection in his eyes gradually disappeared.
Yun Chiyi casually greeted Lin Hengzhi, then picked up the chocolate to replenish her energy and the towel to wipe her sweat and left. Her right foot was already out the door when Lin Hengzhi suddenly grabbed her arm. She looked down at his slender hand first, then her gaze moved up to look into his cold eyes.
Lin Hengzhi lowered his eyes and asked, "Are you very busy today?"
Yun Chiyi nodded truthfully: "That's right, Xin Xiaoya has to run three thousand meters, she has to go to great lengths for her sister."
Upon hearing this, Lin Hengzhi's expression softened: "So these were prepared for her?"
Yun Chiyi blinked: "Otherwise what?"
Lin Hengzhi told her to wait, took out a bottle of water from his bag, and before speaking, he made a point of saying that he hadn't drunk it before: "I added a little white sugar to the salt water, which can help replenish energy."
"Oh, thank you so much, class monitor, for your kindness."
Yun Chiyi accepted it without hesitation, stuffing it into her schoolbag like a treasure. Then, seeing that Lin Hengzhi still showed no sign of moving aside, she asked, "This isn't going to cost money, is it?"
Lin Hengzhi's eyelids twitched, and he asked in a cold tone, "You don't have any other friends participating in the project this afternoon, do you?"
After a moment's thought, Yun Chi said, "I think so."
Lin Hengzhi's jaw tightened slightly. Had she forgotten her promise to come watch the basketball game?
Seeing his face so dark it looked like it was about to drip water, Yun Chiyi chuckled, "Weren't you going to watch your match? After you're done, go home for dinner. But speaking of which, I was just thinking for a moment, are we friends?"
Lin Hengzhi looked at her, but didn't answer for a long time.
Just then, Wang Jiajia suddenly poked her head into their classroom from outside. When she saw Lin Hengzhi holding Yun Chiyi's hand, she felt a sting in her eyes and quickly looked away: "Sorry, I didn't see you two were dating."
Yun Chiyi was startled by her, clutching her chest and trembling: "You're talking nonsense again, are you trying to scare me to death?"
Wang Jiajia asked, "Then what are you dawdling about?"
Lin Hengzhi had let go of her hand at some point. Yun Chiyi picked up her bag and left with a forced smile, but turned back after a few steps and said, "She was just joking, don't take it to heart."
Lin Hengzhi said softly, "Mmm."
