Chapter 933 Extra Chapter: Bai Rui 1

Chapter 933 Extra Chapter: Bai Rui 1

"Young master, where are you going?"

In the courtyard of Prince Ping's mansion, a little girl with a childish voice asked.

"Of course I'm going out to play. I've been staying at home for three days, I'm practically moldy."

The speaker was a five or six-year-old boy with two pigtails, who looked chubby and very endearing.

The girl tilted her head and said, "But Mother said that young master cannot run around, or the princess will scold him."

“My mother said the same thing.”

After hearing what the girl said, a boy about the same age as the boy chimed in.

"You're all too timid. We're not running around; we're going to our uncle's house to play with our cousin. With our uncle and aunt protecting us, Mother won't dare say anything."

The boy was only a young child, but he was certain that Gu Shuyan wouldn't dare to argue with her older brother and sister-in-law.

As expected, after hearing Bai Rui's words, both the little boy and the little girl fell silent.

"Then let's come back soon, otherwise Mom and Dad will worry."

The girl blinked at Bai Rui, looking quite playful.

The girl's name was Xu He. She was Mingyu's eldest daughter. Because her parents were old members of the Prince's Mansion, Xu He grew up in the Prince's Mansion and was one of Bai Rui's playmates.

Gu Rui's other playmate was Pearl's son; the three of them practically grew up playing together in the Prince's mansion.

As for Wuyin and Yufei, they waited several years before getting married to Zhong Lin and Yang Kun. Now that their child has just been born, they naturally can't get along with Bai Rui.

The three of them sneaked out the door, but as soon as they turned the corner, Gu Qiong refused to leave.

"Young master, are we really not going to get scolded by the princess?"

Gu Qiong's personality is just like his father's; he's nothing like Pearl, who's so bold.

"Won't!"

Bai Rui and Xu He spoke in unison, startling Gu Qiong, who then scratched her head.

"Okay then!"

Gu Qiong followed the two out reluctantly. The three of them had originally planned to go to the palace to play with the little prince, but as children are, they lost their ability to judge once they were on the street.

After not going out for a few days, Bai Rui found himself standing in front of a sugar figurine stall.

"Boss, how much is this?"

Picking up a sugar figurine of Zhang Fei, Bai Rui asked.

"Two coins each."

The stall owner, seeing that Bai Rui looked like a child from a wealthy family, didn't dare to underestimate him and hurriedly replied with a smile.

"I want three, one for each of us."

From a young age, whenever Bai Rui saw something he liked while out and about, he would directly ask the price and ask for it. As soon as the shopkeeper heard that he wanted three, he would readily agree.

After shaping the three sugar figurines and placing them in the hands of the three people, Bai Rui led the two away.

"Young master, young master, you haven't paid yet."

The shopkeeper quickly stopped the two of them. Bai Rui looked at Gu Qiong and Gu Qiong nodded. "Every time my mother takes me out to buy things, she always has to pay for them."

"Yeah?"

Bai Rui remembered that his mother had only taught him to ask the price, but had never told him to pay.

Looking at Xu He, and seeing that Xu He nodded, Bai Rui began to caress her in his arms.

Before leaving home today, he saw a pearl on his mother's dressing table. He just wanted to play with it, so he put it in his pocket.

I wonder if this thing can replace three of their sugar figurines.

Bai Rui placed the pearl in front of the shopkeeper and said, "We didn't bring any money with us. I wonder if this can be used as payment for the three of us to make the sugar figurines?"

Bai Rui looked at the boss with a pleading expression. The boss was initially a little unhappy, but his eyes lit up as soon as he saw the bright, shiny bead.

"Yes, of course, you can."

The shopkeeper reached for the beads, but before he could even touch them, they were snatched away.

"Boss? These are just a few sugar figurines, and you're charging people a pearl? Isn't that a bit too much?"

The man had a kind face; although he looked a bit fierce, he seemed approachable.

Upon hearing the man's words, the boss immediately became displeased. "Who's cheating me? This is what the young master paid for when he didn't have the money. It's not like I forced him to pay."

"Then you should accept such an expensive gift?"

The man scoffed dismissively, then pulled out a few copper coins from his pocket, tossed them in front of the shopkeeper, and asked, "Is this enough for this sugar figurine?"

The man glared at the shopkeeper. Although the shopkeeper really wanted the bead, the man had already paid for it, so he couldn't just insist on having it.

Reluctantly glancing at the beads, the shopkeeper finally picked up the few copper coins and silently returned them.

Bai Rui kept glancing at the two of them, and when he saw the pearl finally fall into the man's hands, he didn't feel any regret.

"Let's go!"

Bai Rui tugged at their clothes, and before they noticed him, he led them forward.

In Bai Rui's view, whether it's a pearl or a few copper coins, he just needs to repay what he owes others. As for whether it's worth it, that's not something he needs to consider right now.

The three were small in stature and quickly disappeared into the crowd.

The man paid and turned around, but Bai Rui was nowhere to be seen.

Holding the burning hot pearl in his hand, the man immediately began searching for Bai Rui's whereabouts in the surrounding area.

Bai Rui and his two companions ate sugar figurines, walked around half a street, and soon stood next to the acrobats again.

The performer was demonstrating a very common fire-breathing technique, but the children were having a blast, as if it were Chinese New Year.

"Great, it looks good!"

Bai Rui was clapping his hands when suddenly a figure darted in front of him.

"Kid, I've finally found you."

Bai Rui turned around and saw that it was the man who had paid the candy vendor.

What do you want from me?

Bai Rui's voice was childlike, and his words were so sweet that they were almost heartwarming. However, the man just stared at him.

He handed the pearl to Bai Rui and said, "This is your pearl. You'd better keep it safe, or you'll cry when your parents scold you."

The man spoke jokingly, gesturing for Bai Rui to take the pearl, but Bai Rui only glanced at it before looking away.

The juggling performance in front of him continued, and Bai Rui's eyes were filled with a smile.

The man felt awkward because of this, especially since there were two other people watching him, which made him even more embarrassed.

"Child!"

The man coughed and called out to Bai Rui again, but Bai Rui completely ignored him.

"Let's go."

Bai Rui tugged at Gu Qiong and Xu He, and the three children squeezed out of the crowd once again.

Watching his dashing figure disappear into the distance, the man was quite bewildered. However, glancing at the pearl in his hand, he followed after him.

"You three wait a moment."

The man chased after Bai Rui again, blocking his path. Bai Rui merely glanced at his face and asked, "What exactly do you want?"

Before the man could even speak, Bai Rui grew impatient.

The man had never met a child with this personality before and was at a loss for words.
