Chapter 934 Extra Chapter: Bai Rui 2

Chapter 934 Extra Chapter: Bai Rui 2

"These are your pearls."

The man's speech sounded noticeably more disoriented than before.

Bai Rui didn't even look at the pearl in his hand, and said directly, "Since you paid for the sugar figurine for us, this pearl is yours."

Bai Rui was about to leave again, but this time the man didn't let him go. Instead, he insisted on stuffing the pearls into Bai Rui's clothes.

Bai Rui was so frightened that he took a step back and looked at the man warily, but a small child could not struggle against an adult, and the pearl was eventually put back into his arms.

When Bai Rui woke up, he found himself in a room that appeared to be the home of an ordinary person.

Bai Rui got out of bed and had just jumped off when the door was pushed open.

"Oh, you woke up so quickly?"

The speaker was none other than the man who had stopped him.

The man's face had completely lost its gentle appearance; it now resembled that of a cunning wolf, its eyes fixed intently on the fatty meat at the entrance.

Where are they?

Bai Rui was not surprised by the man's appearance, but instead asked Gu Qiong and Xu He where they had gone.

Having witnessed Bai Rui's composure during the day, the man smiled when he saw that Bai Rui was not afraid of his appearance.

"Them? I bought them, of course. Otherwise, why would I keep them around?"

The man finished speaking and laughed eerily, but Bai Rui was not afraid.

She stared into the man's eyes, seemingly trying to gauge the truthfulness of his words.

For some reason, the man felt a chill creep up his spine when he was stared at by the little boy.

After a shiver, the man composed himself and placed a flatbread he had brought on the table.

"This is your dinner for tonight. Eat it quickly and go to bed early, otherwise you won't have the energy to travel tomorrow."

"If you don't let them both come back, I won't eat."

As if she were helpless at home, Bai Rui crossed her arms and sat back on the bed with an air of arrogance.

"Hey kid, do you know where you are right now? You dare to go on a hunger strike with me? You think I'm afraid of you?"

Seeing that Bai Rui had a temper, the man immediately became a little annoyed, glared at him, and made a move to take the pancake.

But at that moment, Bai Rui slowly spoke.

"You're the group that's been abducting children in Beijing lately, aren't you!"

One sentence struck him like a thunderbolt, almost knocking him to the ground.

In his understanding, these children would only gradually realize what had happened after they had sold the people to the place. But this kid was right; he hit the nail on the head about their identities.

"How...how did you know?"

The man was clearly not frightened; it was just a trick by Bai Rui, and he immediately revealed his true colors.

Bai Rui looked at his somewhat pale face and arrogantly raised her head. "Is that even a question? During the day, I traded pearls for candy, and you immediately jumped out. Later, after we left, you even chased after me to return the pearls. The most suspicious thing is that even after I said I didn't want them anymore, you still tried to give them to me. This is really not the behavior of a normal person."

Bai Rui analyzed the situation slowly, like a little adult.

"What kind of behavior should a normal person exhibit?"

The man became curious about what Bai Rui said and unconsciously pressed for more information.

"Of course, it's like a street vendor. A single pearl is worth a lot of money; even if we don't talk about much, it could easily feed a family for a year or two. But you returned it to me without a second thought. Isn't that strange?"

Bai Rui spoke slowly, and the man nodded in agreement.

Looking back at Bai Rui, the man said with great admiration, "Although you are young, you have a good eye for observation. I wonder if you would be interested in joining us? I believe that with your abilities, you can definitely fool more children."

The man had done this trick on children quite often, but it wasn't a long-term solution. In his experience, he discovered that it was easiest for children to trick each other.

Because children love to play, if someone joins in the play and suggests going somewhere else to play, the child will be completely trusting.

They can simply lead a group of children to a deserted alley and arrest them all at once.

"I won't associate with you bad guys."

Bai Rui tilted his head back, adopting a superior attitude, which made the man's face turn ashen.

The other person genuinely admires him, but he also genuinely looks down on them.

"Kid, don't be stubborn and ask for trouble. If you don't behave, I'll buy you off to the countryside tomorrow."

The man glared at him fiercely, but Bai Rui simply repeated, "Send my two lackeys back."

"Don't even think about it!"

The man looked at the stubborn Bai Rui, uttered a single sentence, and then closed the door and left.

Seeing the angry man, his companion couldn't help but tease him, "What's wrong? Who upset you?"

"Go away, go do what you're supposed to do. My affairs are none of your business."

The man waved his hand and went into another room with an expression that looked like he had eaten shit.

The two had only meant it as a joke, but the guy took it seriously, so they looked at each other and silently stood aside.

Bai Rui didn't stay idle while the man was leaving the house; instead, she jumped off the bed again and looked around the room.

The room wasn't big, but the furniture was all old-fashioned, especially under the bed, where a thick layer of dust had settled.

It looks like someone lived in this house before, but it was rarely cleaned.

This shouldn't be a place where children are imprisoned, but rather a place where one of these people lives. Could it be that man?

But why did he lock himself up here alone?

Bai Rui thought about it for a long time but couldn't figure it out. He scratched his head, looking worried.

On the other side, because the three children went out, Mingyu and Zhenzhu immediately ran to apologize to Gu Shuyan.

Although going out was not their child's idea, as Bai Rui's childhood playmate, their failure to promptly advise and inform the adults shows a lack of proper discipline.

Seeing the two kneeling, Gu Shuyan sighed helplessly and personally helped them up.

“We know what kind of kids they are. It must be Rui’er’s mischief that’s driving them crazy. Why are you doing this?”

Gu Shuyan didn't mean to blame anyone, but Mingyu Zhenzhu still felt uneasy.

"Your Highness, should we send someone out to look for the young master?"

"No need. I've raised Rui'er to be quite wild; she definitely won't suffer any losses outside," Gu Shuyan said confidently.

Mingyu was still a little worried. "But the capital has been in a lot of chaos lately. Young Master is still young. I'm afraid he might run into some bad people."

Mingyu had just heard that a child had gone missing on the next street that morning, and she was already feeling anxious when she woke up, worried that something might have happened.

"It's alright. If we really run into bad guys, that would be better, so that the kid won't always be so lawless. It'll be a good opportunity to teach him a lesson."
