A light rain fell, and a cold wind blew in gusts, each sound mournful and heartbreaking.
"Why?" Ji Xiaoxiao asked in disbelief, the coldness of her body even more icy than the mercilessness of hell.
Shui Wuhen casually drew his sword, and drops of blood splattered onto Ji Xiaoxiao's face.
"Boom!"
It started raining heavily, accompanied by thunder.
"Why? Why? Shui Wuhen, why did you treat me like this?" Ji Xiaoxiao went mad, her hands clenched into fists, her nails digging deep into her palms.
Shui Wuhen took out a handkerchief from his body and slowly wiped his natal magic weapon.
"Why? Because you are a henchman of the Heavenly Dao." Shui Wuhen threw the handkerchief at Ji Xiaoxiao's face. "You don't need to lie to me anymore. Do you really think you are my Xiaobai? An imposter is an imposter. You have no self-awareness at all. Xiaobai and I are bound by love for three lifetimes and have loved each other for three lifetimes. How could I not tell the difference between you and the fake?"
"I'm a newbie, I really am a newbie," Ji Xiaoxiao hurriedly defended herself.
To catch a thief red-handed, or a woman caught in the act, requires evidence; without it, words are empty and powerless.
"Hmph, you're lying. Otherwise, how could Heaven have found me? It must have been you, the Primordial Dao, who tipped me off." Shui Wuhen spoke firmly, ignoring Ji Xiaoxiao's words.
Ji Xiaoxiao wanted to say something, but the situation was dire. The Qingshui Sect disciples, now reduced to walking corpses, had already launched an attack on them. Ji Xiaoxiao clutched her wound and leaped forward, struggling to dodge.
Simply defending is not the solution.
Ji Xiaoxiao took out a pill to stop the bleeding in her abdomen, then switched from defense to offense, smashing the heads of the Qingshui Sect disciples with each punch and palm strike. With their heads gone, their bodies finally fell still.
Catching her breath, she took a closer look and realized that perhaps it was because of the blood energy surrounding her, there were several times more Qing Shui Sect disciples around Ji Xiaoxiao than around Shui Wuhen.
After a long time, Ji Xiaoxiao stood atop the mountain of corpses, gazing into the distance without a soul.
Looking out, there was nothing but endless expanse, nothing but walking corpses, not a single living person in sight.
The ground was littered with zombies; forcing one's way in would be certain death. Ji Xiaoxiao tried to escape by flying, but dark clouds filled the sky. In this situation, there was truly no way to go to heaven or earth.
From the moment she realized she was going to fight against the Heavenly Dao, Ji Xiaoxiao never thought she could escape unscathed. Disregarding life and death, Ji Xiaoxiao looked at Shui Wuhen, who was also struggling to hold on.
"Heaven's will has not yet truly made its move!" Ji Xiaoxiao's heart was constantly in her throat.
Given the current situation, even saving one's life is extremely difficult, let alone shattering and rebuilding the Heavenly Dao.
One must eat one bite at a time, and do things one step at a time.
Ji Xiaoxiao flew to Shui Wuhen's side and said, "Wuhen, Heaven has come prepared. We cannot confront it head-on. It's foolish to try to break a rock with an egg or to try to shake a tree with an ant. As long as we're alive, we can always rebuild. Let's retreat first and then decide what to do next."
"Wuhen?" Shui Wuhen didn't respond, so Ji Xiaoxiao called out again.
"Imitation, if you show your face again, I'll kill you."
Shui Wuhen suddenly swung his sword, the tip flashing cold light, and pressed it against Ji Xiaoxiao's neck.
"Let me give you a piece of advice: run away quickly if you want to escape. Heaven's next move will not be these living dead. If you are not careful, your soul will be scattered and you will never be reincarnated."
Shui Wuhen remained calm and composed, piercing the head of the walking corpse that was about to attack him from behind with his sword.
Ji Xiaoxiao didn't blink at the bloody scene, biting her lip as if she was preparing something.
"I don't care whether I leave or not, but you have to leave, even if it means my death."
After a pause, Ji Xiaoxiao rushed forward and hugged Shui Wuhen tightly. With her hands occupied, Ji Xiaoxiao drew strange characters on the ground with her feet. The characters were eerie, possessing magical power, and rapidly rose from the ground, breaking through the dark clouds and soaring into the boundless sky.
The Heavenly Dao noticed Ji Xiaoxiao and Shui Wuhen's unusual behavior and struck them with bolts of lightning. However, the talismans blocked the lightning, and everything proceeded peacefully.
"What are you doing?" Shui Wuhen asked anxiously.
"I'll send you away and change your fate," Ji Xiaoxiao replied simply.
As Ji Xiaoxiao's pace quickened, her face turned almost transparently pale. The taste of blood filled her mouth, but despite the excruciating pain in her body and mind, Ji Xiaoxiao was ultimately willing.
The original owner somehow learned the secret technique of time travel. Although the price was extremely high, the effect was outstanding. Ji Xiaoxiao had thought that if things reached an irreversible crisis, she would sacrifice her life to send Shui Wuhen back to the past so that he would no longer suffer.
Ji Xiaoxiao looked up at Shui Wuhen, "It's never wrong to prepare early."
A moment later, just as the secret technique was about to be activated, Shui Wuhen's hand suddenly plunged into Ji Xiaoxiao's original wound. Ji Xiaoxiao groaned and increased her output of spiritual power.
"Why are you so stubborn?" Shui Wuhen seemed to sigh.
"The Creation Divine Scripture: Time waits for no one, things change, people are no longer the same, defying fate leads to the dissipation of the soul and the annihilation of the spirit. Little White, have you forgotten? This method of time travel was taught to you by me."
As Shui Wuhen spoke, his hands moved unhurriedly, breaking Ji Xiaoxiao's secret technique.
How was the only way to save Shui Wuhen broken?
So many things are swirling in my mind, a complete jumble, so chaotic that I can't distinguish one thing from another.
Ji Xiaoxiao, having given up all hope, didn't care about anything else. With red eyes, she met Shui Wuhen's gaze and said, "You know I'm Xiaobai, so why did you frame me and hurt me? Do you know, do you know how much I love you, how heartbroken I am, how wronged I feel?"
Wiping away her tears, Ji Xiaoxiao said, "Shui Wuhen, I can forgive you for what happened before, but you have to come with me."
