Chapter 33 The Wife Who Had Her Heart Gouged Out (Part 3)

Ji Xiaoxiao responded numbly to Xuan Yuancheng, carefully holding him in her arms. She glanced at the child who was amusing himself and giggling, then lowered her head and kissed Xuan Yuancheng's fluffy head.

Xuanyuan Cheng felt Ji Xiaoxiao kissing him and, thinking she was playing with him, grinned and stretched his neck to leave a sweet, milky kiss on her face. The loud sound seemed to please Xuanyuan Cheng, and he pointed to his pouting lips, as if showing off to Ji Xiaoxiao.

Ji Xiaoxiao laughed and cried several times, until Xuan Yuancheng yawned in her arms and fell into a deep sleep. Instead of putting Xuan Yuancheng back in his crib, Ji Xiaoxiao carried him back to her room, where mother and son slept in each other's arms.

The morning sunlight streamed through the cracks in the doors and windows, through the patterned curtains, and bathed Ji Xiaoxiao and Xuanyuan Cheng in its warmth.

Young Xuanyuan Chengren often slept, and as soon as the sun came out, his little eyes snapped open. He looked around blankly, then smelled his mother's scent beside him, and his chubby, mischievous little hand reached out towards Ji Xiaoxiao.

Ji Xiaoxiao's scalp tingled, and she opened her eyes groggily. Laughing, she pulled Xuan Yuancheng's little hand down and put it in her mouth. Xuan Yuancheng, instead of being surprised, laughed. Being a generous and magnanimous person, he resolutely put his other little hand into Ji Xiaoxiao's mouth as well.

After playing around for a while, Ji Xiaoxiao finished tidying herself up before taking Xuan Yuancheng to brush his teeth, wash up, loosen his belt and change into new clothes, and gracefully walked out of the room.

After a good breakfast, Ji Xiaoxiao let Xuan Yuancheng play around while she read through the original owner's memories again. In the blink of an eye, Ji Xiaoxiao came to her senses, checked the date, and calculated the time. The absurd incident of Xuan Yuan Yu Jing's entire family being executed, along with that of the old minister, was not far off.

A loyal and trusted minister of the Xuanyuan Dynasty, unwilling to see Xuanyuan Yujing meet his end, pleaded with him to return to the righteous path, even at the cost of his own life. However, Xuanyuan Yujing, driven by youthful rebellion, failed to understand the minister's good intentions and instead showered Bai Wanxin with unparalleled affection and obedience. Enraged by the chattering old man, Xuanyuan Yujing, driven by malice, swiftly slaughtered the minister's entire family.

Ji Xiaoxiao's gaze fell on Xuan Yuancheng, her murderous coldness instantly melting away, replaced by tenderness and love. The original owner's wish was clear: to protect the child and ensure Xuan Yuancheng grew up safely and happily. If blood could be used to avenge the debt, then so be it.

Having a goal gives you direction.

The original plan was for Ji Xiaoxiao to protect Xuanyuan Cheng. To keep Xuanyuan Cheng safe from the clutches of the Xuanyuan Dynasty's ruler, Ji Xiaoxiao needed powerful assistance and martial prowess. The adage "might makes right" holds true throughout history; only by being strong can one avoid being bullied. However, even the strongest can't fight off a large group. Even with Ji Xiaoxiao's miraculous martial arts skills—capable of scaling walls and plucking leaves and flowers—one person only has one pair of eyes, two hands, and two feet; her physical strength and energy are limited. Therefore, she needed assistance.

After some deliberation, Ji Xiaoxiao decided to save the old minister's family. She felt she could never repay such a life-saving debt, and she had reason to believe the old minister would follow her. Besides, she held the trump card of Xuanyuan Cheng, the next heir to the Xuanyuan Dynasty. The old minister might not do it for her, but he had no choice but to do it for Xuanyuan Cheng.

For several days in a row, aside from teasing Xuan Yuancheng, Ji Xiaoxiao spent the rest of her time diligently cultivating the "White Lotus Sacred Technique" day and night. With her previous experience, Ji Xiaoxiao easily reached the peak of the first stage of the Evil-Expelling Realm. Despite eating and drinking little and going without sleep for several days and nights, Ji Xiaoxiao felt as light as a feather, indescribably refreshed.

"Haha, it won't be long before I return to my peak and create new glory, personally slaying the scumbag and bitch, slap slap slap, it's so satisfying!" Ji Xiaoxiao smiled broadly at her achievements, and couldn't help but imagine a bright future.

"Knock knock knock..." A series of urgent knocks interrupted Ji Xiaoxiao's blissful reverie. "Madam, I have something important to report."

Heaven is watching what people do; others can't see it. Ji Xiaoxiao quickly composed herself, took a deep breath, and her innocent, deadpan expression settled onto the face of her current body.

"Come in." Ji Xiaoxiao stood up, walked to the chair, and plopped down.

The newcomer was a young man of about twenty years old, about 1.8 meters tall, with short, pointed black hair. He was hunched over, facing the ground, and walked with perfect precision, as if measured by a ruler. His words were like a clear spring striking a stone: "This servant greets Madam."

"Speak!" Ji Xiaoxiao went straight to the point.

The servant, who lived by watching his master's mood, was unusually sensitive to Ji Xiaoxiao's changes. The subtle pressure Ji Xiaoxiao exerted on him forced him to bow even lower, "Madam, Lord Lin has been imprisoned in the Imperial Prison by the Emperor."

Ji Xiaoxiao, whose cultivation was still far from perfect, couldn't help but smile and said, "Continue."

"The Emperor wanted to make Bai Wanxin Lady Ping, but Lord Lin refused and threatened to kill himself to beg the Emperor to rescind his decree. The court officials acted swiftly and saved Lord Lin. Lord Lin was lucky to survive, but he was immediately thrown into the imperial prison on charges of disobeying the Emperor's orders and interrogated the next day." The man did not embellish a single sentence.

"Is that so?" Ji Xiaoxiao tapped her fingers on the table. After a long while, she said, "You may leave now. If there is any other news, come and report to me immediately."

The man was ordered to take his leave.

After the room was empty, Ji Xiaoxiao stroked her smooth chin with her white jade fingers, her dark eyes sparkling with excitement and a sly smile plastered on her face. "Don't rush, wait a little longer. I can't even repay the life of one person, let's see how Lin Zisu repays the life of an entire clan."

Sure enough, two days later, Xuanyuan Yujing issued an edict to execute Lin Zisu's entire family. Upon hearing this news, Ji Xiaoxiao could no longer sit still.

Ji Xiaoxiao rushed all the way to the Zhaohe Hall without batting an eye. She walked into the hall without looking to the side, glanced at the high and mighty Xuan Yuan Yu Jing, gritted her teeth, and knelt down hard on the ground.
