Chapter 436 First Love is So Pure (Part 3)

Hu Song accepted Yang's father's assessment with a smile.

Hey, his father-in-law is different from his dad, he's so open-minded!

Feng Renkun watched the commotion for a moment. The plot was going according to his plan at first, but then it took a sudden turn for the worse. What was going on with this red-faced father-in-law and son-in-law being so touching?

“Mr. Yang, this is not good,” Feng Renkun said.

“What’s wrong with that? My daughter will get married someday, and if I want to lock in a potential stock now, that’s my daughter having a good eye for talent. Teacher, isn’t it good that Xiaolan has a sense of crisis?” Mr. Yang’s fallacies went on and on.

Feng Renkun opened his mouth, but could only cite the school's rules and regulations.

"The school does not allow students to date."

It is sharp and clear, making it easy to understand at a glance.

"It's terrifying that the school has such outrageous and immoral rules," Mr. Yang said, patting his chest with lingering fear.

“Mr. Yang.” Feng Renkun raised his voice, intending to wake his confused parents from their slumber.

Mr. Yang said solemnly, "Teacher Feng, please ignore what's going on between them."

"You're hurting your daughter."

What has become of students who don't study hard?

Feng Renkun's enthusiasm was met with a bucket of cold water poured over him, leaving him feeling utterly disheartened.

Good intentions go unrewarded, and Feng Renkun looked distressed.

Yang's father sat up straight, putting away his frivolous expression, and looked at Feng Renkun seriously. "They haven't really grown up yet, and they don't know the hardships of life. My request may make them regret and suffer. But isn't it through trials and tribulations that people go through to grow from children to adults? They are old enough, and it's time for them to make their own choices and bear the corresponding consequences, both bitter and joyful."

It wasn't that Mr. Yang didn't love his daughter and allowed her to "run wild," nor was he unaware of the negative consequences of early romance. Yet, his indifference, even his encouragement, stemmed from a deep paternal love. He longed for his child to grow into adulthood and wished her a carefree life.

Humans are contradictory, complex, and simple.

Yang's father was only Yang Xiaolan's father.

Having said that, Feng Renkun had nothing more to say.

As he escorted her to the classroom office door, Feng Renkun said sullenly, "Mr. Yang, Yang Xiaolan's grades have dropped. This isn't our school's fault, it's our teachers' fault."

Mr. and Mrs. Yang didn't say much, just nodded to Feng Renkun, exchanged some polite words, and left unhurriedly. Hu Song followed closely behind, trying his best to please his parents-in-law.

"Listen to me, kid. I don't care about your relationship with Xiaolan, but things that need to be done can only be done after you get married, understand?"

As men, Hu Song was well aware of Yang's father's worries and anxieties.

Hu Song assured him that he would be a virtuous man and strive to be like Liu Xiahui, who remained unmoved even with a woman in his lap.

"That's good," said Mr. Yang. "However, you are still students, so you must not forget your studies. I'll let it go no matter how bad your exam results were this time, but next time, you must produce results that satisfy me. Otherwise, well..."

"Yes, Uncle." Hu Song wanted to make something of himself. He couldn't just study all the time, but he also couldn't stop studying. "Uncle, I will work hard."

Yang's father rambled on and on, while Hu Song listened attentively and respectfully, and time flew by.

At the school gate, Yang's mother nudged Yang's father with her elbow, "Alright, stop talking, let the child go back to class."

Mr. Yang awkwardly shut his mouth.

As the saying goes, a mother-in-law's approval of her son-in-law grows stronger with each passing year. Hu Song was a handsome young man, and his good looks made Yang's mother take a liking to him. She said affectionately, "Little Hu, go back and study hard, and come to our house often in the future."

Hu Songyi agreed to all of them.

After seeing off the two elders, Hu Song felt much more relaxed.

He'd managed to win over Xiaolan's parents, but what about his own? Hu Song was at his wits' end.

There's always a way out; things will work themselves out. Think it through as you go.

Hu Song turned back, determined to study hard.

After school in the evening, Hu Song waited for Ji Xiaoxiao at the school gate as usual.

On the way home with Ji Xiaoxiao, Hu Song broke through his own limitations and successfully took Ji Xiaoxiao's hand.

"This isn't right," Ji Xiaoxiao whispered.

"No, nothing's wrong," Hu Songxin said, sounding weak and unconvincing.

The two grew closer little by little, and their mutual understanding soared.

On Sunday afternoon, the school gave us a rare day off.

Ji Xiaoxiao rushed over. She had made an appointment with Hu Song for hot pot today, but something came up and she was late.

Looking around, Ji Xiaoxiao couldn't find Hu Song.

Where are they?

Suddenly, Ji Xiaoxiao turned around abruptly.

"Are you Yang Xiaolan?" a tall man asked disdainfully, glancing sideways. "I am Hu Song's father, and I have something to say to you."
