Ji Xiaoxiao's new home is very cozy.
Clothes were piled up haphazardly, and opened and unopened snack bags were scattered everywhere. The curtains were drawn, making the room dark and gloomy.
"Sit down." Ji Xiaoxiao rummaged through drawers and cabinets and found the first-aid kit.
The security guard glanced at the sofa and the stool next to it, and the women's underwear on it was so conspicuous that he didn't know where to start.
Sit? Where should I sit?
Not sitting down? That seems rather unfriendly.
The security guard rarely showed such a conflicted expression.
Ji Xiaoxiao returned carrying a medical kit, gave a dry laugh, and with a wave of her hand, swept the piles of clothes aside, squeezing out a relatively clean space for the security guard.
The security guard sat down, and Ji Xiaoxiao opened the medical kit and took out the medication for treatment.
Ten minutes later, Ji Xiaoxiao closed the medical kit.
"Young man, how old are you this year?" Ji Xiaoxiao suddenly asked.
The security guard replied directly, "Twenty-five years old."
Ji Xiaoxiao then asked, "How many people are in your family?"
"My parents died two years ago, and I have no siblings." The security guard calmly stated the cruel truth, and Ji Xiaoxiao solemnly apologized.
"Don't worry about it, I'm not sad anymore," the security guard said.
Ji Xiaoxiao smiled warmly and asked, "So you have a girlfriend?"
"No."
"Where's my wife? Where are the kids?"
"I'm not married yet."
The security guard's answers resonated deeply with Ji Xiaoxiao.
Ji Xiaoxiao volunteered, "What do you think of me?"
"What do you mean, how?" The security guard couldn't keep up with Ji Xiaoxiao's erratic thinking.
"I'm thirty-two years old this year, a little bit, just a little bit old. But look, look closely, aren't I pretty?" Ji Xiaoxiao brought her face close to the security guard's face. The security guard looked at her seriously for a long time and said, "Pretty."
“Right, right?” Ji Xiaoxiao continued, “I’m very capable, and I have some money. I’m currently unemployed and only have a useless older brother, but we don’t need to pay attention to him.”
The room was still dim, but surprisingly warm.
A man and a woman sat close together; the woman had a big smile on her face, while the man was serious and unsmiling.
Ji Xiaoxiao took a deep breath, trying to maintain a calm expression, but her bright eyes betrayed some of her emotions.
"Let's get married!" Ji Xiaoxiao said solemnly.
The security guard thought for a moment and said, "Okay."
Ji Xiaoxiao was slightly taken aback. "You agreed?"
The security guard looked at Ji Xiaoxiao, tilting his head slightly as if he were sizing her up. "Yes, I accept your proposal."
There's no reason to refuse.
Ji Xiaoxiao was silent for a moment, then suddenly jumped up and cheered.
"Waaaaah..."
Ji Xiaoxiao felt incredibly lucky.
The security guard was 1.88 meters tall. Years of security work had given him a muscular build, and his handsome security uniform added to his dashing appearance. Braving the scorching sun and rain, his skin had a sexy bronze hue, and his handsome face, often expressionless, hinted at a tender side beneath his tough exterior. Although he appeared aloof and indifferent, Ji Xiaoxiao interpreted it as him being inarticulate.
Perhaps, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Ji Xiaoxiao put the first-aid kit back in its place and turned around to say, "How about we go get our marriage certificate?" Ji Xiaoxiao was still rummaging through drawers and cabinets, looking for her household registration booklet.
About ten days ago, Ji Xiaoxiao completed the household registration separation process. The booklet in her hand only contained one name.
The security guard stood up.
Ji Xiaoxiao put her household registration booklet into her bag and went out arm in arm with the security guard.
As they went downstairs, the two encountered some elderly people.
"Xiao Li, what's going on here?" It was another middle-aged woman.
Women of this age still have a strong sense of curiosity.
The security guard said, "Let's go get our marriage certificate."
"Getting a marriage certificate?" The older woman's voice cracked slightly. They were getting married? The older woman looked at Ji Xiaoxiao next to the security guard. This girl had just arrived; it shouldn't be like this.
Ji Xiaoxiao explained, "Big sister, we fell in love at first sight."
The woman was overjoyed to hear the word "elder sister," and she waved her hand shyly.
"Isn't this too frivolous?" the woman asked anxiously.
Ji Xiaoxiao held the security guard's hand and said, "I will be good to him for the rest of my life."
This is both a guarantee and a requirement.
Ji Xiaoxiao looked solemn, her eyes fixed directly into the older woman's eyes.
She wasn't lying.
The older woman gave instructions to Ji Xiaoxiao and the security guard.
The two continued walking, encountering more and more people. This was a haunted neighborhood, mostly inhabited by people who were poor or had lived there for too long. Some were disillusioned young people, while others were elderly people who had lived most of their lives. As they entered and exited the neighborhood, they inevitably interacted with the only two security guards. After a few encounters, they became acquainted.
"Are you getting married?"
Some felt relieved, knowing the security guard was all alone and needed someone to take care of him. Others were envious, wondering why such a good man wasn't their daughter's.
Regardless of their emotions, they all sincerely congratulated Ji Xiaoxiao and the security guard.
Getting married is a good thing, a joyous occasion, and perhaps it can ward off bad luck.
After receiving everyone's blessings, Ji Xiaoxiao and the security guard didn't leave immediately. The security guard returned to his dormitory, retrieved his household registration book, and gave instructions to his only colleague before the two left the haunted neighborhood.
Today is the 14th day of the seventh lunar month, commonly known as the Ghost Festival. It's not an auspicious day, and the entrance to the Civil Affairs Bureau is deserted. Ji Xiaoxiao and the security guard walked into the bureau hand in hand, without the slightest hint of unease.
Are you getting married today?
Both Ji Xiaoxiao and the security guard gave clear and concise replies.
