The civil affairs bureau employee shook his head and solemnly finished processing the matter for the two of them.
Each of them received a red booklet. From now on, Ji Xiaoxiao belonged to the security guard, and the security guard belonged to Ji Xiaoxiao.
Standing at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Ji Xiaoxiao smiled at the security guard and asked, "Are you going home, or going out for a nice meal?"
The security guard said, "To celebrate."
So, you're going to have a nice meal?
The security guard took Ji Xiaoxiao to the city's largest supermarket and bought a lot of materials.
Ji Xiaoxiao asked somewhat uneasily, "Do we have to do all of this?"
Ji Xiaoxiao packed three bags of chicken, duck, fish, and meat, worried that the two of them wouldn't be able to finish them.
The security guard nodded. "I'll do it."
"We can't finish it."
"Please send someone." The security guard didn't even look up, his eyes fixed on the goods on the shelf.
"Who are you inviting? Someone from the neighborhood?" The original owner had no friends, and her brother was a good-for-nothing. As for the woman, Ji Xiaoxiao couldn't find a single relative or friend.
The security guard said, "My friend."
Ji Xiaoxiao said "oh". Although the security guard was taciturn, he was tall and handsome, and he must have one or two close friends.
After buying the items, we returned to the haunted neighborhood, where the security guard carried them upstairs.
When Ji Xiaoxiao rented the apartment, she found a very large one with three bedrooms and two living rooms. The living room, in particular, took up almost a third of the apartment's area. Fortunately, the kitchen and dining room were also quite spacious. The security guard placed his things on the dining table and then opened the refrigerator next to it. Inside, there were only a few eggs and a couple of scallions.
"What do you want to eat?" The security guard put the contents of the bag into the refrigerator.
Ji Xiaoxiao helped out, opening the bag and putting the oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar aside. "Instant noodles, order takeout."
The typical life of a homebody.
The security guard turned around and stared at Ji Xiaoxiao, his face expressionless, but Ji Xiaoxiao could see his anger. "Don't do that again."
Ji Xiaoxiao smiled and replied, "Okay."
"I'll cook for you from now on."
Ji Xiaoxiao's movements became a little lighter.
The security guard put his things away, then grabbed his coat, picked up the keys from the coffee table without a word, and walked out.
"Where are we going?" Ji Xiaoxiao was about to boil some water.
The security guard squeezed the key. "I still have some things in the security guard dormitory."
"Do you need my help?" Ji Xiaoxiao shook the water bottle.
The security guard shook his head as well, and Ji Xiaoxiao didn't say anything more, telling him to come back soon.
It's only 2 PM now.
At 2:15, the security guard returned with several bags. Actually, there weren't many; the bags mostly contained clothes, neatly arranged and quite attractive.
"The room?" The security guard lowered his head, his ears turning bright red.
Ji Xiaoxiao didn't notice and pointed out that the largest room was theirs.
The security guard put the clothes in the closet, folded the bag, and stuffed it into the bottom drawer. In the bathroom, he placed a towel, a toothbrush, and a glass of water with another toothbrush inside.
The security guard turned on the tap, washed his face, looked up at himself in the mirror, expressionless, but with bright eyes.
He was very happy!
I'm very happy too!
The security guard glanced around the bathroom, his hand trembling slightly as he touched the pink bath towel. The towel was of excellent quality, smooth to the touch. He abruptly withdrew his hand, panting heavily; the bathroom, with the ventilation fan on, seemed to lack oxygen.
A hazy warmth rose up, making it hard for the security guard to see clearly. Everything that had happened today seemed like a beautiful dream. When he woke up, he would still be the security guard sleeping on the lower bunk.
"It's a really bad feeling!" the security guard muttered.
He tidied his hair and walked out of the bedroom.

At 7 p.m., the security guard and Ji Xiaoxiao prepared a table full of dishes.
All the dishes were served, but the doorbell didn't ring.
"What time did you tell your friend to arrive?"
Some of the dishes were cold, and Ji Xiaoxin felt a pang of heartache.
The security guard looked stunned, as if he had been severely shocked. "Eight o'clock in the evening."
Ji Xiaoxiao looked at the security guard reproachfully, "It's only seven o'clock now, it's still a long way from eight!"
Yes, it's still very early.
The security guard rubbed his hands together. "I didn't know that cooking together would be so fast."
Ji Xiaoxiao thought for a moment, then understood. She wondered if the security guard hadn't initially assumed he'd be the one cooking all the food on the table, given how quickly the two of them could prepare it.
"Pfft."
Ji Xiaoxiao laughed out loud.
The security guard sat upright, his eyes revealing unease.
