"Phew, I finally succeeded."
Startled by the sight of the crows taking flight, the Root ninjas sent a group to investigate, but returned empty-handed. However, they were noticeably more vigilant, leaving one group to lie in ambush in the forest.
Fortunately, the remaining Root ninjas did not check on the unfortunate unconscious men again, but instead led them directly into the base.
Tsunade breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the Root ninjas relax their guard after returning. Shirakumo Hayama and the others had done a good job with their mission.
Now is not a good time to infiltrate. Let's wait for the slug's assessment and see when she activates the Reverse Spirit Communication Technique.
Further out of the forest, Yamashiro Aoba watched as the Root ninjas probed the area before leaving. He turned to Shirakumo Hayama and asked, "What should we do now? Just watch the Hokage be in danger alone?"
"Trust Lady Tsunade, let's prepare to provide support from the outside."
Shirokumo Hayama appeared to have great confidence in Tsunade, and he smiled as he reassured Yamashiro Aoba, "I'll stay here. If any problems arise, my sword will clear a way out for the Hokage."
Go and guard the outer perimeter. Once I send a signal, go back to the village and gather reinforcements.
Baiyun Yeshan paused, then emphasized, "It's so close to Konoha, there's no problem."
Yamashiro Aoba nodded to Shirokumo Yeyama in acceptance of the order, "Actually, I still have a vague feeling that something's not quite right. You should also..."
Before he could finish speaking, Baiyun Yeshan interrupted him, "Don't worry, you have to trust the Hokage's strength. After this mission is completed, the Hokage will give you credit."
Yamashiro Aoba glanced at Shirokumo Yeyama, then turned and ran towards the outer edge, leaving behind only one sentence.
"The credit should still go to you. I hope everything goes well for the Hokage."
While carefully observing the direction of the Root base, Shirokumo Hayama kept glancing out of the corner of his eye as he watched Yamashiro Aoba disappear into the distance. He muttered to himself, "I've long since given up on any credit. I just hope the Hokage can clear the shadows from Konoha."
Having been stationed on the border for many years, I never imagined that Konoha would now require the Hokage to personally investigate the situation within his own village. It's truly absurd.
Bai Yunyeshan's voice was faint and almost inaudible in the night breeze, but the worry and sarcasm in his tone were so strong that the night breeze could not dispel them.
"Damn it, could something have gone wrong? There's not a sound from the live slugs at all."
Tsunade had been hiding on the outskirts of the Root base for more than two hours. During this time, she had only seen some Root members changing shifts and was getting a little anxious.
Several times she even considered just tearing off the mask and barging in, thinking that if she attacked quickly enough, they wouldn't be able to destroy all the evidence.
Just as Tsunade clenched and unclenched her fists several times, she finally felt the power of spacetime from the Reverse Summoning Jutsu.
The next second, Tsunade disappeared and appeared in a completely new environment.
As soon as Tsunade landed, she clenched her fists and assumed a fighting stance, then quickly scanned her surroundings. Fortunately, there were no Root ninjas in the room.
Tsunade then felt a little relieved and began to carefully observe the situation inside the room.
This observation made Tsunade's heart, which had just been at ease, jump again!
The room was very large, filled with the pungent smell of preservatives. In the middle of the room were several laboratory tables, surrounded by transparent glass cabinets, all containing corpses.
One of the glass cases contained the image of the farmer from before. He had stopped breathing and was submerged in a clear liquid, as if he were about to be made into a specimen.
Tsunade could tell from the smell that the liquid was preservative. She couldn't help but pause for a moment, then whispered to the farmer's corpse, "You are a citizen of the Land of Fire, but I am the Hokage. For the sake of Konoha, I have to be careful."
But no matter what, I won't let these bastards get away with this easily!
"Lady Tsunade."
Seeing Tsunade's complicated expression, the slug wriggled its small body and jumped onto her shoulder, then rubbed its slippery body against Tsunade's face.
"Be careful, there are a lot of people here, and they're all very vicious. When I was hiding inside his body, it seemed like someone was experimenting with ninjutsu on him. Suddenly, a knife stabbed in and pierced his body."
Luckily I dodged quickly, otherwise I would have been stabbed too. Then they brought this person to this room and dissected his body.
I played hide-and-seek with the scalpel for a while, and only sneaked out after they left.
Tsunade's expression became even more complicated upon hearing this, as it completely confirmed that Root was conducting human experiments.
She looked at the slug on her shoulder and asked, "Live Slug, do you remember where the room was just now?"
"Of course I remember. The atmosphere in that room is very close. I can take you there."
Tsunade cautiously pushed open the door and peeked out to observe. She was confident in her abilities and didn't think the Root base could do anything to her.
However, if she alerts Root later, she can gather more information and obtain more evidence of Danzo's crimes!
In Tsunade's view, the corridor outside was empty. Under the pale white light, the corridor looked particularly gloomy and eerie, like a road leading to hell.
The room was indeed very close, and guided by the slug, Tsunade quickly found her way to a room. After searching the room and finding no signs of life, Tsunade pushed open the door and rushed inside.
