Chapter 1 Rebirth

In a secret room, several instruments ticked away, and a woman was imprisoned on a platform in the center of the room.

Around the platform, four people in white coats were busily working.

Zuo Ling had a nightmare, her forehead was covered in sweat, and she woke up with a start. She tried to move her hands and feet, but found that her limbs were fixed to the platform.

Not only that, but even their heads were firmly locked with iron hoops.

Startled, he asked, "What...what are you going to do?"

The four men glanced at her indifferently, and none of them paid her any attention.

Zuo Ling had seen them at the Ding family's house; they were acting mysteriously, but she didn't know what they were doing.

Zuo Ling screamed in terror, "What are you doing? Where is this? I'm a member of the Ding family, and Grandpa won't let you get away with this..."

A sneer interrupted her:

"Sister, don't get agitated, you're still at the Ding family's house."

Zuo Ling was all too familiar with that voice. She tried to look in the direction of the sound, but her head was stuck and she couldn't move it.

Ding Jiaojiao took two steps forward, moving to a position where Zuo Ling could see her, and said with a sweet smile:

"Sister, don't worry, it won't hurt, it'll be over in a bit."

Zuo Ling looked at her.

Ding Jiaojiao has a round face and a petite figure. Beneath her long eyelashes, her large, watery eyes are captivating.

However, at this moment, Zuo Ling felt no joy; her hair stood on end.

"what are you up to?"

"What are you doing? Good question! Sister, I've been waiting for this day for eight years, and it's finally here."

A look of disgust flashed across Ding Jiaojiao's cute face. She leaned down, grabbed Zuo Ling's chin, and stared into Zuo Ling's eyes:

“A bastard daughter, whom I’ve called ‘sister’ for eight years,” he slapped Zuo Ling across the face. “You’re so lucky! Hahaha, from today onwards, I can finally get rid of you, this lowly bastard daughter, hahahaha…”

Zuo Ling was terrified and said in a trembling voice:

"Jiaojiao, what are you saying? What...what do you mean?"

Zuo Ling found it hard to believe that those words were spoken by her half-sister.

Ever since she returned to the Ding family, Ding Jiaojiao has always been around her, calling her "sister" this and "sister" that, just like real sisters. She buys her clothes and jewelry, takes her to taste all kinds of delicious food, and shares her little secrets...

Even with constant natural disasters, she never found the days unbearable.

Staring blankly at the unrecognizable Ding Jiaojiao, the contrast was too great, and it was hard to believe that the person in front of her was her dear and lovely sister.

Ding Jiaojiao smiled contemptuously:

"Why do you think the Ding family would bring you back? If it weren't for the rarity of spatial abilities, a lowly illegitimate daughter like you would never have the chance to return to the Ding family!"

"Spatial ability? Spatial ability, spatial ability..."

Terrified by what she saw, Zuo Ling lost her senses and reacted much slower, repeating only four words.

A voice rang out:

"Miss, everything is ready. We can begin."

Ding Jiaojiao grunted in agreement, gave Zuo Ling an arrogant glance, and turned to walk towards the chair next to the platform.

"No, don't go, don't go, explain yourself."

Zuo Ling struggled fiercely, and the chains binding her rattled loudly.

She was probably too excited, because the instruments around her emitted a sharp alarm.

Ding Jiaojiao turned back, placed one hand on Zuo Ling's arm, and said coldly:

"Sister, don't you understand? The Ding family brought you back because of your spatial ability. Without it, would the Ding family still need you?"

"No more spatial abilities? What do you mean? What are you trying to do? What exactly are you trying to do?"

Zuo Ling struggled even more fiercely.

Ding Jiaojiao slapped him again:

"Be honest, you can't escape, no one can save you."

Zuo Ling suddenly regained consciousness, her blood vessels seemingly frozen, and said in disbelief:

"You're going to take away my spatial abilities?"

Ding Jiaojiao laughed and patted Zuo Ling's cheek: "You're not completely stupid yet."

Does Grandpa know?

Since Zuo Ling returned to the Ding family, the Ding family has neither treated her with great kindness nor with disrespect. Her living conditions are much better than those of many other members of the Ding clan.

How can I describe it?

The Ding family treated her like a piece of porcelain, treating her with utmost care and fear that she might be damaged.

Although she was naive, she wasn't stupid. She had thought about it, and it was because of her spatial abilities that the Ding family treated her well.

So what? She didn't care at all, and was even smug, taking the preferential treatment from the Ding family for granted.

The truth was revealed, bloody and raw. Zuo Ling's heart clenched, and she stared intently at Ding Jiaojiao, hissing:

"Are you sure you can take away my ability? If you fail, the Ding family will have no more spatial abilities."

Ding Jiaojiao laughed heartily and said triumphantly:

"The Ding family paid a heavy price for the exchange, spending enormous amounts of manpower and resources. Fortunately, it was successful. As a result, you enjoyed eight carefree years in the Ding family. Tsk tsk tsk, that was far too long."

She turned and left, not looking at Zuo Ling again, and gave the order:

"Let's get started, I can't wait!"

A buzzing sound rang out, and Zuo Ling watched helplessly as a thick needle pierced her forehead. At the same time, steel needles pierced her temples as well.

A piercing scream rang out, and Zuo Ling writhed and convulsed like a fish on a chopping board, her blood gushing.

It hurts, it hurts so much! She could clearly feel every tiny bit of the steel needle piercing her skin.

Ding Jiaojiao covered her ears in disgust: "It's too jarring. Gag her."

The staff member responded, grabbed a towel, and roughly stuffed it into Zuo Ling's mouth.

Zuo Ling roared angrily, but no sound came out. Her hands flailing wildly, and the capillaries on her face were clearly visible, with blood and tears seeping from the corners of her eyes as if they had burst.

My mind was being torn apart, like a fish having its membrane peeled off; my consciousness was gradually fading.
