Chapter 129 Mutual Destruction

Two days later, the two set off.

Before leaving, Zuo Ling returned all of Professor Jin's belongings that he had left with her.

They found a secluded spot, released the Mercedes-Benz belonging to the Jin family's Spider-Man, and had Professor Jin examine it. Sure enough, they found a satellite tracking system hidden inside the car.

Fortunately, Zuo Ling was alert and had Professor Jin turn on the jammer while she was inspecting the car.

Otherwise, given the methods of hermit families, the consequences would be unpredictable.

Professor Jin held the small box he had just taken down with great affection.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, girl, this kind of satellite tracking system is the most advanced in the world right now. People who have this thing are not ordinary people. Be careful, don't risk your life."

Zuo Ling muttered to herself, "I didn't provoke them, they provoked me. What can I do?"

Professor Jin wanted to keep the small box for further study.

Zuo Ling didn't agree. Maybe she'll need the little box in the future, who knows?

Before leaving, I made a point of saying goodbye to Bai Hongwei.

Bai Hongwei was surprised: "Where are you going? It's so dangerous outside, can't you not go?"

Zuo Ling shook her head, picked up a large bag containing twenty bamboo tube rice dishes.

Besides the bamboo tube, the other ingredients for making bamboo rice are not hard to find: rice, cured meat, corn kernels, green beans, shiitake mushrooms, and diced carrots are all available in supermarkets.

More than half a year into the apocalypse, it's normal for owners of apocalyptic fortress-style apartments to have some inventory at home.

"I'm bribing you to keep an eye on the house for me, so no one else can take it."

Seeing Zuo Ling's firm attitude, Bai Hongwei knew that persuasion was useless, so he curled his lip and said with dissatisfaction:

"They won't even let me in the door, yet they want me to look after the house for them..."

Zuo Ling picked up her bag, turned around, and left.

"Hey, hey, hey."

Bai Hongwei reached out and grabbed the bag strap. "I was just kidding with you. Why are you so easily amused?"

"It's a deal, isn't it? If anyone takes over my house when I get back, I'll settle the score with you."

Zuo Ling did not forget to threaten Bai Hongwei.

"Then tell me, where are you going?"

"Shuzhou."

Shuzhou? Ding family territory.

The Bai family and the Ding family have always been at odds. He knew that Zuo Ling had connections with the Ding family, but Bai Hongwei pretended not to know. He wanted to stop Zuo Ling from going to Shuzhou, but he didn't know how to say it.

Zuo Ling had already turned around and waved: "See you later."

"Wait, wait."

Bai Hongwei grabbed Zuo Ling, stared into her eyes, and asked, "Do you have to go?"

Zuo Ling nodded. She could feel Bai Hongwei's concern, but it seemed to come out of nowhere.

"Wait a minute."

Bai Hongwei ran towards Building 2 with his bag in his arms, shouting as he ran, "Wait for me, wait for me, I'll be down in a bit."

When he returned, Bai Hongwei was panting heavily.

"Here you go, don't risk your life out there. Remember, don't trust everyone. Some people look kind and gentle, but they're actually full of bad intentions."

Few people knew about the reclusive family, so Bai Hongwei couldn't say much to Zuo Ling and could only offer him the help he could.

Zuo Ling put two exquisite little pistols and two hundred bullets back into the bag that Bai Hongwei had packed with bamboo rice.

Zuo Ling was very surprised. She had little contact with Bai Hongwei and even avoided contact with them. A few bamboo rice tubes shouldn't have made him give such a generous gift.

Bai Hongwei said matter-of-factly, "I treat you like an older sister. When an older sister goes on a long trip, of course she needs to have something to protect her."

Having acquired a batch of weapons from the doomsday theorists, Zuo Ling had no shortage of firearms; this was a gift delivered right to his doorstep…

Refusing the gift is too much to bear, but accepting it feels unreasonable to accept such a generous gift for no reason. I'm torn between two options.
