There was no bed inside; bedding was laid directly on the ship's deck.
Gao Manshu lay on the bedding, her face ashen and her breathing weak, almost silent.
Her hair was completely white, she was so thin that her eyes were sunken, her cheekbones were high, her lips were bluish-purple, and her hands were bony and bony. She looked as old as she was in her sixties or seventies.
This was the second time Zuo Ling had met Gao Manshu. The first time was at the American base. She didn't have any feelings of "So it was her" or "She stole my husband."
She was simply observing.
Seeing that Zuo Ling remained silent and motionless, Zheng Ming felt uneasy.
After a long while, Zuo Ling withdrew her gaze and took out a packet of traditional Chinese medicine from her backpack:
"Decoct the medicine, boil three bowls down to one bowl."
She's too lazy to explain why she carries Chinese medicine with her now; after all, she's a superhuman.
Zheng Ming opened the medicine packet and looked inside; he didn't recognize most of the medicines.
"What is this medicine...?"
"It promotes blood circulation, removes blood stasis, and replenishes qi and blood. What, you don't believe me?"
Zuo Ling's face darkened. She snatched the medicine from him and turned to leave.
"No, no, no, I'll go now, I'll go now."
After snatching the medicine, Zheng Ming took two steps outside, then hesitated before looking at Gao Manshu.
Zuo Ling snorted coldly:
"Afraid I'll harm her? In her condition, she doesn't need to do anything, she won't live much longer, why bother?"
"No...no, I...I'm going to brew the medicine."
Zuo Ling's tone was unfriendly, and fearing she might back out, Zheng Ming dared not hesitate any longer and hurriedly ran outside.
Pei Nansheng and Xiao Hao were worried about Zuo Ling, so they followed.
Pei Nansheng asked Zuo Ling, "What medicine did you give me? Will I be alright after taking it?"
Others might not know, but he knew perfectly well that Zuo Ling had no idea how to cure illnesses.
"It's alright, Xiao Hao, you go and guard the gate with Xue Ye."
Zuo Ling sent Xiao Hao away.
The medicine she gave Zheng Ming contained angelica, motherwort, salvia miltiorrhiza, safflower, notoginseng, chicken blood vine, codonopsis, astragalus, donkey-hide gelatin, and red dates. They all had the effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, and replenishing qi and blood, but the dosage was extremely light.
Whether it can cure diseases or not, I don't know, but it certainly won't kill anyone.
She was going to use her supernatural abilities to treat Gao Manshu's illness, so of course she had to send Zheng Ming away; the medicine was just a cover.
Pei Nansheng lifted the thin blanket and turned his back to her.
Gao Manshu was wearing a patched-up pajama set. The fabric of the pajama set was delicate and smooth. Before the apocalypse, such a pajama set would have cost several thousand.
The words "the past glory is like fleeting smoke" flashed through my mind.
He placed his hand close to Gao Manshu's abdomen, and life force slowly flowed into her body. He saw that the bluish-purple color of her lips had faded and turned slightly rosy, and her sallow complexion had regained its luster.
Ten minutes later, Zuo Ling was sweating profusely.
Puff... Puff... Puff...
A dozen or so strange sounds, some soft, some loud, some long, some short, followed by a long-accumulated stench that burst forth, forcing Zuo Ling to stop what she was doing and turn her head to fan herself.
Pei Nansheng opened the door and went out. He wasn't driven out by the smell, but rather because he felt a little embarrassed by the woman's moans.
With the turbid air dissipated and her body feeling refreshed, Gao Manshu, who was still in a deep sleep, trembled slightly with her eyelashes and let out a long, comfortable breath.
Seeing that she was about to wake up, Zuo Ling fed Gao Manshu some space water and left the room.
He said to Xiao Hao, "You stay here and wait for Zheng Ming to come back before you leave."
I took two more packets of Chinese medicine and told him, "Don't throw away the dregs. Boil them again. They'll help a little. I don't have any more for him."
My sister's space is full of Chinese medicine, so it seems that the man and my sister don't have a good relationship. Then he'll know how to deal with Zheng Ming.
Xiao Hao was overthinking it. It wasn't that Zuo Ling was stingy; it was that she didn't understand pharmacology. All the medicines were good, but putting them together might not work. She was worried about drug interactions, and that taking too much of it would be bad for Gao Manshu.
Thanks to her treatment, Gao Manshu's condition improved by at least 30%; any more would be too noticeable.
About 30% of them are likely to survive, so they won't die anytime soon. As for the rest, we'll just have to nurse them back to health.
Guo Qi, Yang Chengang, and He Xiao are still waiting for Zuo Ling.
Seeing her come up, he asked, "How is it?"
Many people on the ship have various ailments. People with superpowers don't need medicine to treat their illnesses, right? If only that were the case.
Zuo Ling shook her head:
“I’m not a doctor and can’t cure diseases. Zheng Mingfei asked me to take a look. I happened to have a few packets of medicine for gynecological diseases on me. I originally kept them for my own use, but since this happened, I gave them to him first. I don’t know if they will work or not.”
The three of them: "..."
Completely bewildered, could this really be happening? Both suspicious and disappointed.
He Xiao reacted quickly: "Do your best and leave the rest to fate."
He had heard Jin Yu mention Gao Manshu's illness; it seemed she was nearing the end.
Zuo Ling deeply agreed: "Yes, do your best and leave the rest to fate."
"You know you can't get out, right? What are your plans?"
Guo Qi and Yang Chengang were more concerned about this matter.
"I don't know either. We're also looking for a way out. Let's keep looking."
Guo Qi and Yang Chengang were both disappointed that they couldn't get an answer from Zuo Ling.
Zuo Ling and Pei Nansheng were about to disembark when Guo Qi stopped them.
"Let's stay on the boat; at least it'll be safer."
"Thank you, we prefer living alone."
Zuo Ling waved her hand and left gracefully.
The aroma of barbecue filled the air on the shore. Ning Qiang and his family were grilling rat meat, with a pot bubbling and steaming nearby.
Many villagers were excitedly skinning rats. After eight years in the apocalypse, having eaten so many strange and unusual things, rat meat was now considered a fairly normal food.
Ning Qiang waved to Zuo Ling:
"Hi, Sister Zuo, want to come and have something to eat? It smells delicious."
Zuo Ling's face twitched. She had a whole bunch of ingredients in her space, but she was going to eat rat meat instead. There was nothing wrong with that.
But I was really hungry, so I found a place away from the crowds and grilled fish.
