"Is that so..." Chongyuan nodded noncommittally, then suddenly burst out laughing.
Ji Yueyao was bewildered by his smile and looked at Chongyuan speechlessly, not understanding what had gotten into him again.
"Ji Yueyao, you really are still a child." Chong Yuan shook his head. "Don't you know that there's no harmony between our bases?"
Ji Yueyao frowned. "I know, but isn't that enough to maintain a facade of harmony? The Xiyu base shouldn't break ties with us for one person, right?"
“Ji Yueyao, someone who was originally one of them has now become a high-ranking member of another base and wants to take away their ability users. Do you think that’s possible?” Chong Yuan said softly.
Ji Yueyao didn't understand, "Wei Kang is already paralyzed because of them... They shouldn't be so desperate as to lose even one person..."
“This isn’t just about one person; it’s about the reputation of their entire Xiyu base. You’re a traitor to them now, understand? Do you think they’ll let a traitor take people away from them again?” Chongyuan interrupted Ji Yueyao, his voice cold. “Let me tell you, Ji Yueyao, even if they ruin your friend, they’d never hand him over to you.”
Ji Yueyao froze, staring blankly at her feet, lost in thought. Yes, she had been incredibly naive, believing that power granted her the ability to do whatever she pleased. She hadn't considered that while her power was unparalleled in the Nanxiao base, in the entire C country, it was merely a backing; openly taking Wei Kang away was utterly impossible.
