"Did you arrange this?" Song Nuan stared directly at Jiang Jieting.
She remained relatively calm; even if Jiang Jieting answered "yes," she didn't think she would be too surprised.
"No, not really."
Song Nuan frowned. What do you mean by "not counting"?
Jiang Jieting didn't hide anything and told her frankly, "I didn't put the drug in. Zhou Jing lost consciousness in the elevator. I had someone bring him to your room."
Song Nuan took a deep breath. Jiang Jieting's frankness was particularly absurd, and she couldn't give any reaction; she just found it funny.
"Didn't you consider that something might have actually happened between Zhou Jing and me when you did this?"
Jiang Jieting smiled faintly, her eyes sharp, as if mocking her foolishness.
“Zhong Qingya is a bit naive. If I help her out and things go well, she’ll thank me; if not,” she smiled slightly, “you’ll still have to thank me.”
Song Nuan had a thousand swear words she wanted to say to her.
This is what a wealthy family is like.
Dirty tactics are everywhere. If Jiang Jieting hadn't spoken up, she might have thought it was Zhong Qingya's doing her whole life.
What's even more ridiculous is that Jiang Jieting is now standing in front of her, brazenly revealing her schemes and plans. In Jiang Jieting's eyes, she is nothing more than an ant with no ability to resist.
She was a victim, as was Ouyang Zhoujing.
Li Jingchen didn't care about this at all; they even argued fiercely about it.
Something inside her seemed to be crumbling, slowly peeling away from her body, bit by bit. The process was very slow, but Song Nuan could sense the change.
She ignored it.
"So, Madam Li, how do you want me to obey you now?"
"I told you, I can help you."
"Thank you, but my affairs with Li Jingchen are none of your concern, Madam Li," Song Nuan declined with a smile. "You know your relationship with Jingchen. Do you think he wants to see me cooperate with you?"
Jiang Jieting: "I always thought you were a smart person, but I didn't expect you to be so stubborn."
Song Nuan smiled gently.
"Because I know clearly who is standing next to me, it's Li Jingchen, not the Li family."
Jiang Jieting wanted to use her. Although she didn't know what she had that was worth using, Song Nuan wasn't so foolish as to join forces with Jiang Jieting.
How is that any different from betraying Li Jingchen?
Jiang Jieting's smile froze almost imperceptibly for a few seconds. "You'll regret this."
Song Nuan ignored her; their conversation was coming to an end.
She got up, patted her bottom, and couldn't wait to leave.
Jiang Jieting was unwilling to give up and continued to provoke her: "You stumbled once with your ex-husband, do you still believe in men? Song Nuan, I know Li Jingchen better than you do."
"Oh, then Madam Li, why don't you tell me who he is? I'm all ears."
Her nonchalant attitude left Jiang Jieting speechless.
Song Nuan smiled, "Aren't you going to tell me? Then I'm leaving."
Jiang Jieting had no choice but to watch her leave, and she didn't even have the slightest intention of waiting for her to leave together.
Very individualistic.
Women who are too individualistic are capable of enduring hardship.
Jiang Jieting smiled. Song Nuan's arrogance meant nothing to her. Once Song Nuan married into the Li family, she would have plenty of opportunities and time to temper Song Nuan's temperament.
There is ample time.
...
There was no answer when she knocked, so Song Nuan entered the password to get in.
There was no one in the room, which puzzled her. Suddenly, the study door opened, and a thick smell of smoke wafted out. Li Guanyu walked out, his face expressionless.
With his back to Song Nuan, he said into the study, "Jing Chen, don't forget your promise."
He glanced at Song Nuan, his expression indifferent.
Women are very perceptive of hostility. Song Nuan vaguely sensed that beneath Li Guanyu's indifference lay a great deal of dissatisfaction with her, or even... hatred.
"Warm and cozy."
Li Jingchen's voice interrupted her thoughts. Song Nuan composed herself and watched Li Guanyu walk to the door. She then asked Li Jingchen softly, "Aren't you going to see him off?"
"There's no need."
"Oh." The smell of smoke was too strong for Song Nuan, so she pinched her nose and asked, "I'm hungry, what's for dinner?"
Li Jingchen pondered.
Song Nuan looked up at him curiously, wondering what he was thinking. She assumed he hadn't decided on a dish yet, so she said, "There's still steak in the fridge, let's fry it and eat it, don't waste it."
He finally spoke: "I'm not free tonight."
Song Nuan responded with an "oh," and casually asked, "Is something wrong at the company?"
"yes."
"Then you go ahead and do your work. I'll just make myself something to eat." After saying that, she asked again, "Are you coming back tonight? If not, I won't leave the door open for you."
Li Jingchen patted the top of her head. "We'll probably be staying up all night tonight."
Although they had argued and developed a rift, Song Nuan still felt a pang of guilt upon hearing these words.
She wanted to suggest that she go to his company to keep him company, but before she could say it, Li Jingchen received a phone call. While listening, he picked up his coat and walked out.
Song Nuan followed behind him blankly, not even having a chance to interject.
As he walked out the door, Li Jingchen seemed to remember her, turned back, and mouthed something to her.
'Wait for me to come back.'
What could Song Nuan say? She could only nod.
The moment the door closed, Song Nuan felt a sense of emptiness. Recently, Li Jingchen had been staying at home with her, and the two of them were practically inseparable 24 hours a day. What kind of work was so urgent that he had to go back to the company and stay up all night?
To be fair, it's normal to be overwhelmed when managing such a large group.
But Song Nuan just felt something was off.
She couldn't describe the feeling in her heart, nor did she know how to describe the vague intuition that existed in her mind.
Perhaps it's because Mr. and Mrs. Li Guanyu came here?
A premonition told Song Nuan that what Li Jingchen was about to face was not just work...
Lost in thought until evening, Song Nuan felt a little hungry, but had no desire to cook. She opened an app to order takeout, but after browsing several times, nothing appealed to her.
Frustrated, Song Nuan closed the app and opened a group chat with Xu Yiran and Fang Yu, asking, "Want to have dinner together tonight?"
Xu Yiran replied instantly, "Okay, it's getting cold, let's go get some barbecue."
Song Nuan: 'Where's Fang Yu?'
Several minutes passed, but Fang Yu still hadn't appeared.
Xu Yiran sent a nose-picking emoji, 'She works for you, you're her boss, and you just give her a day off without even asking if she has time?'
That makes sense.
Song Nuan picked up the keys and went directly to Song's to pick up Fang Yu. After picking up Fang Yu, Xu Yiran had just finished get off work.
The three met at a barbecue restaurant.
Just as she sat down, a figure appeared and called out sweetly, "Sister Song Nuan, what a coincidence!"
Song Nuan was sitting with her back to the door. When she heard the sound, her brain paused for a few seconds, her back stiffened, and she really wanted to pretend she hadn't heard it.
However, it is not possible.
She turned around stiffly, a smile blooming on her face, feigning surprise with all her acting skills. "Windsor?"
Windsor chided, "When did you come back to Liangcheng? Why didn't you tell me? We could have arranged to have a meal together."
