"Mark where you are, go! One, two, one, two, one, two, one..."
The loud voices echoed in the playground, one after another.
The scorching sun above their heads seemed to melt people, and several girls fainted one after another.
Cong Nian clenched his teeth, feeling that something was not right with him today, as his reactions were always a beat slower than others.
"That student! Pay attention to the instructions!"
In her hazy vision, Cong Nian seemed to see the instructor holding a loudspeaker and shouting at her.
Yu Xinghe stood beside Cong Nian, looking at her pale little face worriedly.
"Nian Nian, what's wrong with you?"
He looks very weak.
Cong Nian shook her head and was about to say it was okay when she saw the instructor walking towards them.
"You two! Step out! The rest of you take a ten-minute break!"
Several sympathetic eyes turned towards them. Cong Nian touched Yu Xinghe's hand, feeling extremely guilty.
The instructor in their class was very strict. If the movements were not performed properly or if students were whispering to each other, they would be punished by doing frog jumps or running laps.
The students complained bitterly but could do nothing about it.
Yu Xinghe held Cong Nian's hand and winked at her.
At this moment, the instructor also walked in front of them, his sharp eyes wandering between the two of them, finally stopping on Cong Nian's face.
"You can't even do these few moves? This is military training! Not playing house!"
Cong Nian straightened his back, trying to relieve some of the back pain, but the effect was minimal.
He Sui leaned against a tree trunk nearby, folded his arms and watched the situation on the playground.
"You two."
The instructor pointed to the playground, and now all the classes were sitting under the shade of the trees to rest.
"Fifty frog jumps, from here to there."
Cong Nian took a deep breath and opened his mouth to say something, but stopped talking awkwardly when he met the instructor's fierce gaze.
When she got up in the morning, she felt a severe backache. She thought it was due to fatigue from yesterday's military training, but now it seems that this is not the reason.
A chilling feeling came from my lower abdomen...
Cong Nian's heart skipped a beat.
Could it be...
"What are you still standing there for? You think fifty is not enough? Then a hundred will do."
The instructor walked to the edge of the playground, holding a loudspeaker and looking at her and Yu Xinghe.
"Let's go."
Cong Nian pulled Yu Xinghe to the location the instructor indicated.
"Are you really not feeling unwell? You look so scary..."
Yu Xinghe looked at Cong Nian's profile. Her bangs were wet with sweat and stuck to her forehead, and even her long eyelashes were watery.
But Cong Nian seemed not to hear it. He bent down, put his hands behind his back and started to do frog jumps.
Seeing this, Yu Xinghe sighed and followed.
"If you feel uncomfortable, just say it, don't force it."
After all, they are friends for many years, and Yu Xinghe knows what Cong Nian wants to do next based on her every move.
"I know, I know. I just wanted to finish the dance quickly so I could rest. I didn't bother you to accompany me."
When Yu Xinghe heard Cong Nian say that he was implicated, he put on a stern face and pouted, pretending to be unhappy.
"Between friends, why would you talk about getting involved or not? That's too formal!"
“Puff.”
It was clearly a punishment, but the two of them were laughing and dancing.
If Cong Nian could barely bear it at the beginning, five minutes later, every step he took caused severe pain in his waist and abdomen.
I was sweating profusely, my clothes were sticking to my body as if they were wet, and the world in front of me seemed to be covered with a layer of white fog.
I can't see clearly, and I can't hear clearly.
"Nian Nian? Nian Nian?"
Yu Xinghe saw Cong Nian still bending over, standing still with a frown on his face, and quickly stood up to support him.
Only then did he realize that her whole body was shaking and she was about to collapse.
Yu Xinghe was frightened.
"Nian Nian!"
Cong Nian's body swayed, and he fell straight to the ground as if he had lost all his strength.
At the last moment before she fell to the ground, the figure who had been watching them for a long time swooped over and caught her steadily.
"Hey, are you okay?"
He Sui shook Cong Nian's body, and seeing that she didn't respond, he picked her up and ran towards the school infirmary.
"He Sui! Wait for me!"
Yu Xinghe ignored the instructor's attempt to stop him and quickly caught up.
Cong Nian opened his eyes.
The sunlight overhead was a bit dazzling, and a breeze blew past, making a buzzing sound in my ears and making my stomach churn.
But her world seemed to be filled with only the beating of a drum.
Leaves swirled in the sky and fell onto He Sui's head.
Cong Nian raised his hand to remove the leaves, and the scene in front of him became clear.
There was anxiety and panic in He Sui's eyes that she had never seen before. He opened his mouth and seemed to say something.
But the tinnitus drowned out her hearing and she couldn't hear clearly.
Before fainting, Cong Nian was thinking about——
Didn't I tell you not to call her "Hey"? She has a name, Cong Nian.
…
When I woke up again, I was in the infirmary.
It was noon, the sunlight was particularly glaring, and the annoying cicadas' chirping was blocked outside the window.
The air conditioner was on in the room, making it chilly. Cong Nian gathered the quilt together, suddenly opened her eyes and sat up.
