Chapter 229 Antique Street

"Okay." After tucking Du Wenqing in, Xia Lan and Qin Yu walked out of the room hand in hand, nodding to the two people guarding the door.

"We're going out for a bit, will we be back in a little while?"

One of them threw his ID to Qin Yu.

"You can come in with my ID."

Thank you.

Qin Yu gave the two of them a grateful look.

"Big brother, sister-in-law, you've finally arrived!"

Yang Ziye, who was leaning against the car smoking, saw the two finally come out, quickly put out his cigarette, and then came to greet them.

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting," Xia Lan said apologetically.

"It's nothing, it hasn't been long," Yang Ziye said with a smile, opening the car door for them and inviting them to get in.

Xia Lan and Qin Yu got into Yang Ziye's car. Yang Ziye got in, started the car, and it slowly drove toward the intersection.

Xia Lan observed the interior of the car; the seats were all genuine leather, indicating that Yang Ziye's family was indeed very wealthy.

"Sister-in-law, this car belongs to my dad. What do you think? I specially asked my dad for permission to take you out for a drive. He usually doesn't let me touch it."

Yang Ziye smiled at Xia Lan.

"It's pretty good, all genuine leather."

Yang Ziye's words carried a hint of superiority, but these things were really nothing to Xia Lan.

After all, she had seen what luxury cars looked like before, and compared to her previous life, this car could only be considered rudimentary.

But for ordinary people today, this car is indeed very luxurious.

Seeing that Xia Lan's reaction wasn't as excited as he had imagined, Yang Ziye looked at Qin Yu, who was even more indifferent. When they were on missions, they had driven all kinds of cars, and to him, this kind of car was just a means of transportation.

The two's reactions surprised Yang Ziye, who was originally excited. Why was he more excited than them? The two people who should have been excited were so calm.

Yang Ziye looked at the calm couple, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes.

As expected of the older brother he had his eye on, even his sister-in-law was different from ordinary girls.

If he hadn't known they were from the countryside, he would have almost thought they were from Beijing. They were so calm; maybe their family also owned this car…

The car slowly drove into the bustling street. Xia Lan had only seen this place before when she was on a bus. Looking at the bustling street, she felt that the old-fashioned things that once belonged to television were now shining brightly here.

This feeling made Xia Lan feel somewhat dazed, as if her past life was just a dream, so unreal.

Now it was as if she were in her own world. Xia Lan shook hands, and Qin Yu noticed that Xia Lan's expression was a little off, so he took her hand in return.

"What’s wrong with you?"

The moment Qin Yu grasped her hand, Xia Lan regained her senses and shook her head.

"It's nothing, I just find it really amazing."

Xia Lan smiled.

"Brother and sister-in-law, is there any place you'd like to visit?"

Yang Ziye acted as an enthusiastic tour guide throughout the journey, introducing the scenery along the way to them.

They also made sure to ask them if there was anywhere they wanted to go.

Qin Yu shook his head and looked at Xia Lan.

Xia Lan thought for a moment.

"Is there an antique street I'd like to check out?"

Yang Ziye turned back to look at Xia Lan in surprise. It had only just opened, yet Xia Lan knew about the recently popular antique street?

"sure."

Yang Ziye naturally did not refuse, and turned the direction around, making a U-turn on the street.

The passersby, startled by his sudden U-turn, quickly ran away. When they saw Yang Ziye's car, they didn't dare to curse him, but could only glare fiercely at the back of the car.

"What's so great about it? When I'm rich, I'll buy two!"

"Oh."

After he finished speaking, the mocking looks from those around him left the man nowhere to hide, and he quickly slunk away.

Yang Ziye parked the car at the entrance of the alley and led Xia Lan and Qin Yu into a dark alley. Everyone walking here kept their mouths shut, and no one noticed the sound. All communication was done through hand gestures.

Qin Yu protectively held Xia Lan's hand, exchanging a glance with the person secretly watching them.

Xia Lan blinked as she looked at the parts scattered all over the ground.

Yang Ziye led Xia Lan to an antique shop, where Xia Lan saw the dazzling array of antiques, calligraphy and paintings, and couldn't help but smile.

"Sister-in-law, is there anything you like?" Yang Ziye walked up to Xia Lan and Qin Yu and asked in a voice that only the three of them could hear.

Standing before Xia Lan's calligraphy and paintings, they all seemed genuine, but Xia Lan also knew how murky the antique market was.

She had only once had the privilege of hearing an old gentleman mention it; the truth was uncertain, and opinions varied widely, with no one ever daring to say for sure that it was true.

However, considering the current era, it's hard to tell what's real and what's fake at a glance.

Suddenly, Xia Lan's eyes fixed on something, and she walked straight to the corner, looking at the inconspicuous large porcelain vase there.

"How much is this? It's so big, it would be perfect for putting in your master's living room."

Xia Lan pointed to the inconspicuous large porcelain bottle, and Yang Ziye knew at a glance that it was worthless.

"Sister-in-law, why don't you choose something else? This one isn't worth much. If you like it, just tell me, and I'll give it to you."

Yang Ziye thought Xia Lan's look was too boring; it looked worthless, like something thrown in a corner.

Pointing to the exquisite porcelain vase beside him, he asked Xia Lan to choose this one.

"Sister-in-law, this one is nice, even prettier."

"This guest has a really good eye. This is 'Yuan blue and white porcelain,' a rare find that comes along only once in a century."

A man in a black Zhongshan suit walked up to Yang Ziye and smiled.

How much does it cost?

Yang Ziye grinned, "I told you he'd got his eye on something good!"

"It's not expensive, only two hundred."

The shopkeeper smiled.

"Two hundred isn't expensive! I'll buy it for you, sister-in-law! Don't take that drab gray one anymore..."

Yang Ziye beckoned to Xia Lan, signaling her to come and look at what was next to him.

Xia Lan glanced at it and then looked away, pointing to the large gray bottle she had her eye on in front of the shopkeeper.

"Shopkeeper, how much is this? I'll take it!"

"Oh, that one! If you like it, just give me twenty."

The shopkeeper smiled at Xia Lan.

"What? This broken bottle costs twenty? I'd rather it were in the way than cost two yuan."

Yang Ziye found the plain porcelain vase utterly unappealing.

No matter how I look at it, I think mine is better.

Yang Ziye's words made the shopkeeper smile awkwardly.

"How about this? If the customer likes it, I'll give you a discount. How about five yuan? Five yuan is already very cheap."

The shopkeeper glanced at Xia Lan, then at Yang Ziye, and immediately deducted fifteen yuan from her price.

This is a very big discount.

But Yang Ziye was still not satisfied.

"Shopkeeper, don't think you can bully me just because my sister-in-law is new to the capital! I'm right here!"

Yang Ziye glared at the shopkeeper. How dare he say that this broken bottle was worth five yuan in front of him?

The shopkeeper took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead and glanced helplessly at Yang Ziye.
