Chapter 25 Preparing to Return to the Village

Seeing that the people surrounding Qin Yu had left, Xia Lan, her hands trembling, immediately ran to Qin Yu and pulled him away.

Qin Yu glanced at Xia Lan, then ran after her. Xia Lan pulled Qin Yu back to the state-run restaurant, where the noodles on the table had already clumped together.

"Eat up!" Xia Lan didn't ask any questions and told Qin Yu to eat the noodles first.

She had been waiting for Qin Yu for a long time, but he hadn't returned, so she decided to fill her stomach first, then told the waiter not to take the food away, and went out to look for Qin Yu.

Qin Yu finished his noodles under Xia Lan's watchful eye. Only after Xia Lan saw that he had finished eating did she pull him away from the state-run restaurant.

Holding her breath the whole way, Xia Lan led Qin Yu back to the small room. As soon as Xia Lan entered, Qin Yu hugged her.

"I'm sorry." Qin Yu sensed that Xia Lan was angry, and he had been thinking about what to do the whole way.

"Qin Yu, you could have told me if you didn't have money! Why did you go to such a dangerous place as the black market... Do you know that if you get caught, you'll be shot?" Xia Lan turned to Qin Yu and said seriously.

"And...and they just surrounded you, that was so dangerous!" As soon as Xia Lan walked into the alley, she heard Qin Yu say "Get lost."

She quickly peeked out and saw that Qin Yu was surrounded by a group of people, none of whom looked like good people.

Xia Lan didn't know what to do, but she couldn't just watch Qin Yu get into trouble, so she decided to yell and see if she could scare him away.

"I'm really good at fighting!" Qin Yu wanted to say that he was very strong, but he was afraid that Xia Lan wouldn't believe him, so he simply said that he was very good at fighting.

"Does being a good fighter necessarily mean you have to fight?" Xia Lan said angrily. "How can you possibly beat so many people? You know one punch can't fight four hands, right?"

"I'll be careful not to get hurt," Qin Yu said, gently hugging Xia Lan.

He should have been angry, but instead he was laughing very happily.

Is this what it feels like to be controlled by your wife?

It's pretty good.

"Tell me the truth, why did you go to the black market?" Xia Lan broke free from Qin Yu and questioned him.

She's still angry! Why are you hugging me?!

"I saw an enemy; he owes me money." Qin Yu smiled and held Xia Lan's hand. "I want to get the money back so I can buy you clothes."

“…I said I don’t need new clothes.” Xia Lan narrowed her eyes.

“But I can’t not buy it for you. Today is our wedding day, it’s different. If others have it, you have to have it too.” Qin Yu looked into Xia Lan’s eyes, and his eyes reflected hers.

"Actually, I have money..." Qin Yu wanted to tell Xia Lan what he had done, but Xia Lan pressed her lips against Qin Yu's.

“I believe you will succeed in the future, but take it slow and don’t rush! Let’s set a small goal for now. Come on, let’s go buy that dress!” Xia Lan pulled Qin Yu back to the counter of the department store.

Hu Meili had already packed her things and left; now standing behind the counter was a kind-looking older woman.

"Excuse me, ma'am, could you please tell me about this red dress, size medium?" Xia Lan said with a smile to the woman.

"Would you like to try it on? We have a fitting room in our store," the older woman said kindly as she immediately went to get Xia Lan's dress.

"No need! It fits perfectly." Xia Lan took the dress and held it up to herself, finding that it fit her waist perfectly.

"This dress will look great on you, what a pretty young lady!" The older sister looked Xia Lan up and down.

She has delicate features, and her figure is hidden by the loose old clothes, but if you look at her body shape and waist proportions, she would definitely be dazzling and beautiful if she wore this red dress.

"Thank you." Xia Lan smiled slightly. "How much?"

Just as the older sister was about to say twelve yuan, Minister Yang slowly walked over. "I was just about to look for you! It's perfect timing that you're here."

"Leader," the older woman quickly greeted Minister Yang with a smile.

"Boss," Xia Lan looked up and smiled at Minister Yang, "I still like this dress, so I came over to buy it."

"Give her the employee price, eight yuan," Minister Yang said to the older woman.

The older sister glanced at Xia Lan in surprise, then immediately nodded and wrapped the skirt up for her.

"Eight pieces."

Xia Lan was taken aback. "Boss, isn't this inappropriate? It's so embarrassing..."

“I’ve already received the defective products. There are quite a few over there. How many do you need?” Minister Yang didn’t waste any words and asked directly.

Xia Lan understood immediately. She paid for the clothes, put them away, and then followed Minister Yang into the office.

"How many days do you plan to run this event?" Xia Lan asked as soon as she led Qin Yu into the office.

Minister Yang thought for a moment, then said seriously, "I just consulted with my superiors, and they told me to ask you what the differences are and how much we need to prepare!"

“I suggest three days instead of one,” Xia Lan analyzed. “There are three benefits to doing this: first, it’s to give back to everyone for their support over the years, and second, it’s to salvage our reputation.”

"And the second one?" Minister Yang nodded and asked.

"Secondly, it's to stimulate consumption and generate profits for the factory," Xia Lan continued.

"And the third?" Minister Yang asked with a smile.

“The third is, of course, to make a name for yourself!” Xia Lan blinked. “Such a great opportunity, of course we should make sure everyone remembers the department store! Or if you want to promote a new product, that’s a great opportunity too!”

Minister Yang suddenly stood up. "How could I not have thought of that! We can use this to promote our new product!"

"Comrade Xia Lan, I formally invite you to join us. I look forward to your future performance." Minister Yang looked at Xia Lan with even greater satisfaction; young people always have ideas.

"Thank you, I will try my best to create more value." Xia Lan looked at Minister Yang's outstretched hand and shook it with him.

"Xiaoling, go and get Xia Lan a copy of the employee benefits." Minister Yang said to a female colleague in the office.

"Yes." The woman glanced at Minister Yang, then got up and left.

A moment later, the woman brought over two thermos flasks, an iron basin, two towels, two bars of soap, two toothbrushes, and two cups, placed them in front of Xia Lan, and then took out a stack of tickets.

Xia Lan noticed that everything except the iron basin came in duplicate, and there were even tickets...

I couldn't help but look at Minister Yang.

Isn't that too much?

"Take it! You and your spouse need it." Minister Yang chuckled, gesturing for Xia Lan to accept it. "I'll give you the vouchers in advance. When you get your salary, you'll only have your salary, not the vouchers."

He still has that much power.

"Thank you, leader!" Xia Lan smiled brightly, her eyes crinkling.

Xia Lan and Qin Yu returned to the small house through the back door with their belongings. Qin Yu refused to let Xia Lan do anything and instead fetched water to tidy up the room. Xia Lan wanted to help.

Qin Yu grabbed her hand and pretended to kiss her, making Xia Lan blush and run away.

Qin Yu watched Xia Lan's retreating figure, a pleased smile playing on his lips.

After cleaning the room, Qin Yu and Xia Lan prepared to return to the village.
