"Stone!" came Uncle San's call from outside the door.
Xia Lan was startled and blushed as she quickly pushed Qin Yu away.
Qin Yu let out a heavy sigh of relief. His third uncle had saved him. If things had continued, he was worried that he might lose control and take her right there.
He gently kissed Xia Lan.
"My third uncle called me, so I went out."
“…Mmm.” Xia Lan blushed and nodded lightly.
"Can we continue tonight?" Qin Yu asked seductively, gently kissing Xia Lan's flushed earlobe.
“…You should leave now.” Xia Lan trembled and pushed Qin Yu.
I refuse to answer this embarrassing question.
Qin Yu glanced at Xia Lan with regret, then reluctantly kissed her cheek before turning and leaving the room.
Third Uncle and Seventh Uncle sat in the courtyard, with Second Uncle and the others standing behind them. They watched Qin Yu, who was taking his time to come out of the room, and the two elders smiled knowingly.
It looks like we'll have small stones soon.
"Big brother," the second brother called out.
"What's wrong?" Qin Yu looked at them. Why did they come over during the day?
"Stone, your wife found a job in the city? I heard it's not bad?" Third Uncle asked Qin Yu.
"Yes." Qin Yu nodded. "A sales clerk at a department store."
Third Uncle and Seventh Uncle frowned. "So, where have you been staying in the city these past few days?"
"The department store manager lent us a room to stay temporarily. I've already rented a place in the city, and I came back today to pick up my things," Qin Yu said truthfully.
He knew that if Xia Lan told Aunt Liu about her job, it wouldn't be surprising if the whole village found out.
Xia Lan found a job and became a city dweller.
"Bought with money?" Seventh Uncle looked up at Qin Yu, his eyes clearly showing disapproval.
"I told you, she earned it herself." Qin Yu had told them this when they got married, but it seems they didn't take it to heart and didn't pay much attention.
"What about the house?" Uncle Qi said discontentedly. "I've already hired good people, just waiting for you to come back and start construction."
Qin Yu looked at his third and seventh uncles, recalling Xia Lan's coughing appearance when he returned, and Qin Yu's eyes hardened.
"establish."
"You've all gone into the city..." Uncle San looked at Qin Yu suspiciously. You've all gone into the city, why are you still building?
"Build it in Xia Lan's name." Qin Yu smiled at the two elders, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Use Xia Lan's? Wouldn't those old women be so jealous?" Qin Yu's words startled the two elders, but then they thought of something and their eyes lit up.
"Anyway, I've always been nothing but a piece of trash in their eyes," Qin Yu said nonchalantly.
"Big brother, that's a brilliant move! Those old ladies must be green with envy. They can't stand to see you doing well," the second brother laughed.
"With my eldest brother away from the village these past few days, these aunties have been quite sharp-tongued," the third brother sneered.
"What do you mean by 'big brother living off a woman'? This clumsy kid has turned clever and found his wife to be his money tree, so he doesn't even need to work for work points anymore."
"Now that you want to build a house in your sister-in-law's name, wouldn't that make you so jealous?" The fourth brother imitated the jealous aunts, perfectly capturing their sour tone.
"The goods are back?" Qin Yu asked, looking at Lao Er and the others with a cheerful mood.
"I'm back." The second son nodded.
"Two days later, I'll bring people to collect the goods and send the prepared shipment out," Qin Yu instructed.
"Big brother, we can't trust that Wang Jianguo..." the third brother quickly said. After the incident of the stolen goods, Wang Jianguo was obviously unreliable.
Once it happens, it will happen again; who knows who they'll give the goods to next time.
"It's not Wang Jianguo, it's Xu Li's man." Qin Yu explained his cooperation with Xu Li to them.
“These people are loyal and trustworthy.” Uncle San understood that they were forced into this life because their families were short of money.
Didn't they embark on this path out of necessity?
The village had no harvest, and the government refused to allocate funds. Everyone was on the verge of starving to death. It was Qin Yu who came up with the idea, and the grain he brought back saved the lives of the entire village.
Thanks to Qin Yu, their village is now the best village in the vicinity, but the work has not stopped, and all the men in the village have reached a consensus.
"Since that's the case, let's give them a chance and give it a try." Uncle Qi agreed, saying that a man who would fight for his parents, wife, and children is a true man.
"Get the goods ready in the next couple of days. I'll personally bring the men over." Qin Yu glanced at the second brother, who immediately understood.
"Your wife is at work, what are you doing in the city? Aren't you coming back to the village?" Uncle San asked Qin Yu.
