Chapter 69 Honest people are not necessarily honest.

Xia Lan seemed to be frightened by Wang Guihua and turned to run into the crowd.

Wang Guihua originally wanted to capture Xia Lan, and now she changed direction and chased after Xia Lan.

Qin Yu's expression changed, and he ran over to protect Xia Lan.

Wang Guihua reached out to grab Xia Lan, but Xia Lan dodged. Wang Guihua missed Xia Lan and instead grabbed the aunt next to her. The aunt didn't expect to be caught in the trap and had three red scratches on her hand.

"Ouch!"

"Auntie, I'm so sorry! I caused you to get caught..." Xia Lan quickly ran back and held her aunt's hand with heartache.

"It's alright, Xia, it's none of your business." The aunt was still angry, but Xia Lan actually ran back for her sake, so her anger towards Xia Lan subsided.

"You deserve it, why didn't you move aside and stand here?" Wang Guihua and that auntie didn't get along anyway, and she felt smug when she saw that she was injured.

"Wang Guihua, you old shrew, I'll fight you to the death!" The aunt immediately turned cold, rolled up her sleeves, and slapped Wang Guihua in retaliation.

Wang Guihua was also caught, and her temper flared up again. Without exchanging any more words, the two started grabbing each other.

"Hey, don't hit her...don't hit her!" Xia Lan tried to stop her, grabbing Wang Guihua's hand for her aunt, but then seemed to be pushed away by her aunt and slapped Wang Guihua across the face.

Wang Guihua was pinned down by the two men and endured countless blows.

"Ouch..."

The crowd watched their fight with great interest, almost to the point of taking out sunflower seeds to eat.

"What are you all standing there for? Go up and help Xia separate them!" Xu Fulin's face darkened, and he reprimanded them sternly.

Then the crowd stepped forward and separated Wang Guihua from the aunt.

Xia Lan had already retreated to Qin Yu's side when they stepped forward to break up the fight.

Qin Yu looked Xia Lan over and, seeing that she was not injured, breathed a sigh of relief and pinched her cheek.

That little rascal, he was really scared to death.

When the crowd separated the two, Wang Guihua had scratched the aunt several times.

Wang Guihua was in a terrible state; her face was scratched, her clothes were torn, and Xia Lan secretly slapped her a few times. She was in a very disheveled state.

Just then, a group of men who were finishing work passed by. One of them, who was watching the commotion, came over and discovered that the person being beaten was actually his wife. He immediately pushed through the crowd and rushed over.

"Honghua, how did you get hurt? Who hit you?" The man roared as he looked at the bloodstains on his wife's face and hands.

“Look, Wang Guihua got the ticket,” an auntie explained to the man, pointing to the disheveled Wang Guihua on the ground.

Wang Guihua looked on with envy at the way the man cared for his wife and wanted to stand up for her. She secretly glanced at Qin Tao, who just stood there coldly, watching her disheveled appearance without any reaction.

"Qin Tao, your wife dared to lay a hand on my wife, what do you say? Shall we have a fight?" The man strode aggressively toward Qin Tao, whose face stiffened.

"I apologize on her behalf, Qiangzi, don't be angry." Qin Tao quickly admitted defeat and promised to pay him two yuan.

"Tsk." Liu Qiang glanced at Qin Tao with disdain.

What a coward! His wife is injured and he doesn't even care about her. He's not a real man.

Xu Fulin stepped forward coldly.

"Qin Tao, what do you have to say about this?" Xu Fulin looked at Qin Tao, who glanced at Wang Guihua.

"We'll listen to the village chief. From now on, we'll just collect their pension money every year! We won't bother them anymore," Qin Tao assured him.

"Wang Guihua, did you hear me?" Xu Fulin looked at Wang Guihua, who was slumped on the ground.

“…I know, I understand,” Wang Guihua said through gritted teeth.

He stared at Xia Lan with his eyes wide open, as if he wanted to devour her alive.

"Village chief, does she mean what she said? She agreed to that this morning too!" Xia Lan asked fearfully when she saw Wang Guihua's sinister eyes.

"I mean what I say, I definitely mean what I say. If she dares to come again, I'll break her legs." Before Xu Fulin could say anything, Qin Tao nodded and agreed.

"If that's the case, then fine!" Xia Lan glanced at Qin Tao, obediently lowered her head, and stopped pressing the matter.

"Let's go home." Qin Tao walked up to Wang Guihua, who covered her injuries and followed him, shrinking back.

"Aren't you going home to cook after work? Everyone, go home!" Xu Fulin said to the crowd who were still lingering and watching the commotion.

Only then did everyone disperse, satisfied.

Xia Lan nodded to Xu Fulin while pulling Qin Yu along, then turned and went home. However, Xu Fulin did not leave but followed them into the house.
