The marriage arrangement has been finalized, but the Shen family intends to push Lin Wanxing forward.
If Shen Er could take this fool, they would be more than happy to accept him; if not, they would keep him in the attic for the time being.
Lin Wanxing hugged his strawberry bear, pressed his face against the bear's belly, and rubbed his cheek against the bear.
The room was pitch black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, not a sliver of light could get in. It turned out that this little attic had a skylight. Later, Chen Xueping discovered that Lin Wanxing liked to sit on the floor every night, looking up at the sky and praying for the stars.
This seemed to be the only thing he could do to pass the time when he was bored.
Chen Xueping just couldn't stand Lin Wanxing's silly and foolish ways, and she didn't want Lin Wanxing to have a comfortable life.
So she had Xu Feng seal the skylight, and Lin Wanxing was like a person living in a dry well. He could only look up at the sky outside every day, but that last bit of hope was completely blocked.
He leaned against a door locked with countless locks. Just outside the door was the magnificent Chen family villa, while inside was a dark, cold, and damp attic.
His life was like that, completely locked up.
"That idiot, I heard he's going to be given to the Shen family."
"Isn't that Shen Er disabled?"
"So what if he's disabled? He's still from the Shen family. He's more than a match for a fool. Besides, our master has always wanted to send him away. Now that the Shen family is here, let's consider it a marriage alliance."
Through the door, Lin Ruoxing heard the servants' chatter.
He got up with a blank look on his face, then found a candle under his small, shabby bed. He slowly lit the candle, and finally a sliver of light appeared in the pitch-black room.
The boy's delicate face was illuminated by the candlelight, revealing a sickly, pale face that had never seen the light of day in adulthood.
Lin Wanxing blinked, staring at the flickering candlelight, her eyes sparkling with starlight, looking utterly innocent and naive.
The flickering candlelight stretched his strawberry bear shadow long.
He placed the strawberry bear on his lap and gently stroked its cheek.
"Bear, it's so nice to have you with the stars."
"He said we would meet, we would meet."
This doll was bought for him by his mother when he was a child; it's the only thing his mother left him.
"Bear, we'll leave here."
"I will take you away."
He hugged the strawberry bear tightly in his arms. This strawberry bear was his only friend, and he firmly believed that the bear was alive.
The footsteps behind him grew closer. Having lived in this house for so long, Lin Wanxing had developed very sensitive ears from being in the dark.
He heard someone approaching, so he immediately blew out the candle, hid under the bed, and then groped his way to lie down on the bed.
Sure enough, the lock clicked, and someone opened the door with a key, letting in a sliver of light through the crack.
The door was kicked open with a bang, and it was Aunt Liu and several other servants.
Chen Xueping ordered the servants to bring Lin Wanxing out.
The door to the room was opened wide, and the light from outside shone in, causing Lin Wanxing, who had been in darkness for so long, to squint. He could only see two blurry figures outside the door.
The family's maid, Liu Ma, came over and shone a flashlight on Lin Wanxing, saying, "Young Master, Madam and Miss are in a good mood today, so you are allowed to go out for a walk."
Upon hearing that she could leave, Lin Wanxing excitedly sat up from the head of the bed, smiling happily with sparkling eyes, and said to Liu Ma, "Can I leave now? Can I leave now?"
He threw off the covers, jumped out of bed, and ran outside.
Aunt Liu sneered inwardly as she watched the barefoot, foolish young master running around. He could indeed leave, but he would be kicked out of this house.
"You have no manners at all. You saw your sister and me sitting here, and you didn't even say hello."
Lin Wanxing then withdrew her curious gaze and cautiously looked at the lady of the house.
Xu Feng was elegant and graceful, with her hair styled in an updo and wearing a gentle blue dress. She wore light makeup and took good care of herself; even at her age, her skin was firm and wrinkle-free.
Lin Wanxing saw Xu Feng glance at Chen Xueping, then smiled and said to them, "Hello, Auntie. Hello, Sister."
He has a beautiful smile; his eyes curve into a small crescent moon.
Chen Xueping gave a cold laugh, her eyes practically rolling to the sky.
"He's just an idiot, how dare he call me 'sister'? If I really had a brother like that, I wouldn't know where to put my face."
"Hey, I called you over because my mom took pity on you and arranged a marriage for you."
Chen Xueping looked at Lin Wanxing with disdain. He was running around barefoot without even wearing shoes. What an unruly fool.
In fact, Lam Man-sing didn't have any shoes at all.
Only occasionally, when Chen Shuhua couldn't bear it anymore, would he ask the servants to buy him a few pairs of shoes. This perfunctory fatherly love always gave Lin Wanxing hope, and he always hoped that his father would release him.
Chen Shuhua didn't want more people to know about his mentally challenged son, fearing that the son would bring him shame, so he tacitly allowed Xu Feng to lock him up.
Lin Wanxing felt very uncomfortable being stared at by her, and he lowered his head, nervously fidgeting with his fingers.
Chen Xueping had completely lost the gentle demeanor she had shown in front of others. She crossed her legs and looked at Lin Wanxing disdainfully, "Idiot, aren't you going to say thank you?"
"Do you know who you're engaged to? It's the second young master of the Shen family! It's a marriage that so many people dream of but can't even dream of. Look how good my mother is to you."
Shen Er was once the ideal husband in the hearts of countless people, a big shot that many could never reach.
He was once so successful, but now he is just as down on his luck.
He was in a car accident, became lame, and had to rely on crutches and a wheelchair to live. He was also expelled from the Shen family. It was a situation that even stray dogs on the street would laugh at.
Most of these disabled people are mentally unstable.
Xu Feng glanced at Lin Wanxing, who quickly smiled broadly. He stared at Xu Feng with his clear eyes, beaming with excitement, and said, "Thank you, Auntie, thank you for finding such a good marriage for Xingxing."
"Is Xingxing getting married soon? Will she have someone to play with after that?"
Fools are all like this, foolish in nature.
He didn't even know who Shen Er was, yet he was smugly pleased with himself.
Xu Feng smiled at the little fool and pretended to be a gentle and kind mother, saying, "Wanxing, don't say that I'm biased. I've already arranged your marriage and Xueping's marriage. They are both excellent matches. Neither of you is lacking."
She was absolutely not biased. Because of these two children, Lin Wanxing was practically invisible. She didn't even consider the mentally challenged child as a member of the family, so there was no question of favoritism.
She wholeheartedly supports her daughter. If Lin Wanxing's marriage is useful, she will snatch it for her child; if it's not, she will simply give it back to Lin Wanxing.
It's always her children who benefit.
