Chapter 122 Fiancée

Mingdai's show of weakness was simply to prevent Mo Tingchuan from being too wary of her.

Mo Tingchuan was also ashamed of his self-mockery and disappointment at Mingdai's lowered gaze, and he was unable to face her.

He cheated on Mingdai first, and he has always wronged her.

No matter how many excuses Mo Tingchuan made for himself, he betrayed Ming Dai's sincere heart.

Mo Tingchuan left after Ming's parents had gone to sleep.

But actually, as soon as his car left, Ming's mother opened her eyes in the bedroom.

Why did you leave?

She felt vaguely uneasy.

"I always felt that there was something wrong with the relationship between the two kids."

It's not that Ming's mother is overly sensitive; it's just that some things release negative signals that can be sensed no matter how much they're concealed.

Ming's father also felt this way, but didn't want his wife to worry.

"I just went to check on them, and they're doing great."

He rolled over and hugged his wife.

"Don't think about it anymore. Once I've finished what I'm doing, I'll take you on a trip."

Ming's mother chuckled softly, nuzzled her husband's chest, and gave a happy "Mmm."

The next morning, Mingdai got up and found that the marks on her neck were still there, not very obvious, but you could definitely see them if you looked closely.

To avoid arousing her parents' suspicion, she wrapped a silk scarf around her neck.

I went downstairs to have breakfast with my parents.

Ming's parents didn't think much of their daughter's scarf, assuming it was just a style choice.

Mingdai received a call from He Xingqiong halfway through her workday.

He Xingqiong spoke urgently and with considerable annoyance.

"My uncle has really crossed the line. Guess what? He took Mo Yumei and Mo Qingying back to the He family early this morning."

Mingdai was surprised.

"Didn't you say you wouldn't go back unless someone invited you?"

"Who knows? I just heard it from my brother."

He Xingqiong was furious.

Mingdai asked, "Weren't you there when they went this morning?"

"They only went back after we all went to work."

Mingdai understood.

"That must have been the result of Mo Yumei's persistent pleading. Otherwise, given my uncle's personality, I estimate he would have held a grudge against my third uncle for the rest of his life."

He Xingqiong was irritable.

"The thought of having another annoying person in my house makes me want to swear."

Mingdai chuckled to herself.

He Xingqiong is a very well-mannered person; how could she possibly swear?

"It's only a matter of time, isn't it? Mo Yumei will definitely do everything she can to get back into the He family."

Mingdai asked He Xingqiong, "Does Third Uncle know about this?"

"They probably already know, but there's not much we can say, since it's also Uncle's house."

He Xingqiong changed the subject.

"Do you have time at noon? Let's have lunch together."

He Xingqiong booked the restaurant, and Mingdai drove there.

Pushing open the door to the private room, they found He Yaonian and He Xingjian were also there.

"Come here quickly."

He Xingqiong waved excitedly to Mingdai.

“I brought my third uncle and my brother with me. I know you won’t mind.”

Mingdai: "..."

There's nothing to mind, it's just that it's a blessing for her that these important figures can get together.

The atmosphere at the table was relaxed, and no heavy topics were discussed.

After finishing our meal and walking out of the private room, we were in the corridor.

Someone called He Yaonian.

"He Yaonian!"

A very clear and sweet female voice.

Mingdai felt a sudden, inexplicable pang in her heart.

She turned her head to look over.

A very cute girl rushed over with a smile.

She looked like she was about to throw herself into He Yaonian's arms.

Mingdai stood next to He Yaonian, and the fragrance emanating from the girl wafted into her nose before the girl herself.

It's sweet, like a delicious little cake, beautiful and exquisite, making your mouth water.

He was pushed and moved closer, dodging the woman's lunge.

Mingdai was knocked to the side by He Yaonian.

He Yaonian put his arm around her waist without making a sound, and quietly withdrew his hand after she regained her balance.

"Brother Nian!"

The girl stomped her feet in frustration after failing to pounce on He Yaonian.

Her face was chubby and she looked very young, probably only recently turned 18. She was full of youthful energy and vitality.

"Don't shout."

He Yaonian glanced at Ming Dai without anyone noticing, then looked at the girl with a sharp gaze, "Call me Uncle He."

"You're not my uncle."

The girl was unhappy. "Don't even think about making me call you 'uncle.' What fiancée would call her fiancé 'uncle'?"

Fang Li.

He Yaonian's face turned cold.

fiancée?

Mingdai's mind went blank. This lovely girl was He Yaonian's fiancée?

“Miss Fang, your engagement with my third uncle has long been dissolved. You can’t say things like that, lest it cause misunderstandings.”

He Xingqiong clarified the facts immediately.

“I didn’t agree to the annulment. All I know is that I’ve been Nian’s fiancée since I was a child, and I will marry no one but him in this life.”

Fang Li pouted and looked pitifully at He Yaonian.

"Brother Nian, I haven't had lunch yet, I'm so hungry."

She wanted to reach out and tug at He Yaonian's sleeve.

Will you eat with me?

Although He Yaonian dodged it, Fang Li quickly grabbed his fingers and wrapped them around him like a snake.

"Brother Nian, it's been so long since we last saw each other. Don't you miss me at all? I miss you so much."

Fang Li didn't care whether others would see her in public; she was only focused on catching He Yaonian.

Mingdai felt somewhat lost and her heart was not feeling well.

Just then, someone called her, and she answered it, whispering to He Xingqiong, "I have to go now, you two talk."

Before He Xingqiong could react, Ming Dai had already turned around, taking rather large steps. She didn't know what she wanted to escape from, but she was very eager to leave.

Once I got in the car, I couldn't help but glance towards the restaurant entrance.

No one came after them.

Mingdai hung up the phone, composed herself, and drove away, not giving herself a chance to overthink.

Arrive at the coffee shop and meet the client.

Did your dad sign a few projects yesterday?

The client and Mingdai were old acquaintances, and the client was a major client that Mingdai had always wanted to poach from Mo Tingchuan.

Upon hearing this, Mingdai's expression changed.

"What's wrong? Is there a problem?"

The customer's expression was serious.

“Mo Tingchuan has tampered with the project; there are problems with the contract. Once the project starts, investors will withdraw their funds one after another, and your father will be trapped.”

Mingdai's fingers, which were holding the coffee, froze.

“But yesterday I asked my dad’s assistant, and he said that the project he signed has nothing to do with Mo Tingchuan.”

"On the surface, it seems like nothing's wrong, but what about behind the scenes? Do you think Mo Tingchuan became a dark horse in the business world in just three years? If his net hadn't been cast wide enough, how could he have achieved his current status and success?"

Mingdai's heart skipped a beat.

Mo Tingchuan probably had this planned all along, just waiting to deliver a fatal blow here.

"The project didn't go through me, so I don't know the specifics or how much of it I might lose."

"At least 2 billion."

Mingdai's eyelids twitched violently.

It will take her dad a long time to earn that money back.
