Chapter 27 I Was Just Being Presumptuous

Trying to gain sympathy?

No, Uncle's tone...

"Third Uncle, first of all, I swear I really didn't lie to you, and I wouldn't dare to lie to you. I really had no other choice."

While He Yaonian seemed relatively easy to talk to, Mingdai quickly apologized.

She clasped her hands together, respectfully and devoutly looking at He Yaonian with her big, pitiful eyes.

"Third Uncle, I am truly grateful for how you helped me at the dinner table last night. I know you won't believe me no matter what I say now, but I really had no choice. I didn't lie to you, not even a little bit."

She still couldn't bear to watch her parents, who had lived a respectable life, suffer a humiliating and miserable old age.

The same old things, repeated over and over again.

After getting up, He Yaonian ignored Mingdai and completely disregarded what she said.

He asked the staff to serve him food.

Mingdai followed closely behind He Yaonian.

Her stomach was still rumbling loudly, which was incredibly embarrassing.

Mingdai pressed her stomach in annoyance.

Stop yelling!

She nervously kept explaining.

"Third Uncle, about my predicament... my predicament..."

The words were on the tip of my tongue, but I just couldn't bring myself to say them.

How could she say that?

Should we tell He Yaonian that Mo Tingchuan and other men conspired to film her in compromising situations and are now using that to constantly threaten her?

The key question is, will He Yaonian believe her if she tells him?

Besides, He Yaonian might not even want to know these things.

He Yaonian stood in the viewing glass and looked out. The small, flowing water scenery outside was pleasant.

Mingdai suddenly stopped talking about her troubles, and He Yaonian waited for a moment, but she didn't continue.

I knew she was a liar.

You also have to come up with an excuse on the spot.

"Didn't you come up with a single plausible excuse all this way? Are you just going to stand here and wait for things to happen?"

He Yaonian suddenly flew into a rage, his handsome face darkening, his eagle eyes sharp, his aura like a ferocious tiger pouncing on its prey.

Mingdai was terrified.

My throat is sore and my nose is sore.

"Third Uncle, I...I'm Mo Tingchuan...he and others..."

"Enough!"

He Yaonian rebuked him sternly.

"You've gone back on your word, what else do you expect me to believe?"

He Yaonian shook his head in disappointment, feeling frustrated that his son was not living up to his potential.

"Mingdai, I was just being presumptuous. Helping you was just asking for trouble. Don't bother me with your problems anymore, and it's best to stay far away from me."

He Yaonian stormed off in a rage.

Mingdai stood there blankly, overwhelmed by a profound sense of defeat.

She slowly squatted down, exhausted, her breathing labored, her chest tight and painful.

She couldn't say anything or explain anything. It was all her own fault. If she hadn't been blind to fall for Mo Tingchuan, she wouldn't be in this dilemma today.

The staff brought in the dishes, several at a time.

Mingdai quickly composed herself and got up to ask them.

"Did you pay for these dishes?"

The staff member nodded, "It's all in Mr. He's account."

"Didn't he say he wasn't eating today?"

The staff member shook his head. "No, Mr. He just left and said it's up to you."

A warm current flowed through the heart, which was scarred and battered.

Mingdai smiled.

"Please pack it up for me, thank you."

Carrying several large boxes of delicious food that had been packed, Mingdai got into a taxi and sent a message to He Yaonian: Thank you, Uncle.

Fortunately, He Yaonian didn't block her.

Mingdai didn't go to the He family villa; she went straight back to her apartment.

It was already quite dark when a slender, delicate woman stood under the streetlight in front of the apartment building.

Mingdai only realized it was He Xingqiong after getting out of the car.

This young lady is wearing a suit skirt and a thin woolen coat over it.

The cold snap of early spring hasn't been over for long. Although the temperature has warmed up quite a bit, it's still very cool at night.

He Xingqiong had been waiting impatiently for a long time. When she saw Mingdai return, she stomped her high heels.

"Hey Ming! You disappeared this morning! I heard you weren't feeling well. If you weren't feeling well, why were you running around like that? I'm freezing to death!"

Mingdai, carrying two full packing boxes, jogged over clumsily and quickly.

Only when he got closer and saw the young lady's rosy and healthy face did he feel at ease.

"Why are you here? How long have you been waiting?"

He Xingqiong saw Mingdai carrying things in both hands like a big, clumsy goose, and eyeing the takeout box.

"Anyway, it's been a long time. What did you bring up?"

"The meal was treated by my third uncle."

Mingdai went to open the door.

She needs to unlock it with her fingerprint, which is inconvenient when she's carrying things.

He Xingqiong snatched a few and carried them herself.

"You knew your third uncle was not someone to be trifled with, yet you still dared to lie to him."

"Beep beep—" The door opened.

Mingdai denied it, saying, "I wouldn't dare lie to my third uncle."

Are you really not feeling well?

Once inside, He Xingqiong carefully examined Mingdai after she turned on the light.

Mingdai's face was still very fair, and her large, dark eyes were bright and peaceful, but there was a hint of fatigue hidden between her beautiful brows.

"I feel fine."

Mingdai picked up the lunchbox and put it down on the coffee table, her gaze drawn to the broken ashtray on the floor.

She forgot that she hadn't cleaned up the mess yet.

He Xingqiong followed and naturally saw the mess.

"What's going on?"

He Xingqiong stared wide-eyed at the dried, blood-soaked tissue on the ground.

Several groups!

"Has your house been broken into?"

He Xingqiong grabbed Mingdai and began groping her body.

"You fought with the thief?"

Mingdai was being touched so much that she turned around and around, and even raised her hand to make it easier for He Xingqiong to examine her.
