Mingdai hunched her shoulders, her gaze fixed on two petals of some unknown flower at her feet, wet with raindrops.
"Third Uncle, I pushed Qin Weiwei down the steps."
Mingdai looked at He Yaonian.
"Even with emergency treatment at the hospital, we don't know if the baby can be saved."
He Yaonian was a little surprised and pulled Mingdai toward him.
"The rain is getting heavier, let's go back to the car first."
Mingdai glanced at her wrist, which He Yaonian was holding loosely. His hand was large, and there was still plenty of room around her wrist.
As soon as I got into the car, the raindrops started to get bigger, pattering against the car window.
Mingdai wrapped herself in He Yaonian's coat, turned her head and thanked him.
Then he asked, "Did Uncle just get off work?"
When He Yaonian called her before, he asked where she was, and she told him. She never expected He Yaonian to come looking for her.
Have you had dinner yet?
He Yaonian asked gently, "You're saying you pushed Qin Weiwei down the steps?"
Mingdai hung her head dejectedly and said, "Hmm."
Which hospital?
He Yaonian asked, "Has Mo Tingchuan been notified?"
Mingdai nodded. "Their whole family is in the hospital."
He Yaonian didn't ask why, but simply reached out and gently touched Mingdai's hair.
He comforted her, saying, "Everything will be alright."
He made a phone call and learned that Qin Weiwei was out of danger.
"The person is still unconscious, but the adults and children are fine."
Upon hearing this, Mingdai felt relieved.
He Yaonian asked, "Would you like something to eat?"
Mingdai shook her head. "I'm not eating."
Nevertheless, He Yaonian still took Mingdai to a nearby Hong Kong-style restaurant.
The private room was quiet, and there was a piano inside.
He Yaonian sat down and smiled at Ming Dai, who was standing in the center of the private room, looking completely bewildered.
"I'll play you a piece of music."
