Chapter 6

Chapter 6

The slender figure fell into the shadow of the door, and no emotion could be seen.

Lian Yu's throat rolled over, but he couldn't utter a word.

The eye contact didn't last long, and Qin Yi quickly pulled out a child from behind him.

It’s Xiaoguang.

Qin Yi pushed Xiaoguang forward:

"Perhaps you would like to know this."

Xiaoguang didn't say anything, just lowered his head and scratched the barbs on his hand.

"Xiao Guang," Qin Yi met Xiao Guang's evasive gaze and gently advised, "What did you just say to Teacher Qin? Now tell Uncle Lian and Brother Xiao Yang again, okay?"

Xiaoguang was silent for a moment, and finally nodded slowly:

"I was the one who said that Brother Xiao Yang fell in the warehouse, but that was--" Xiaoguang bit his lip.

Lian Yu frowned unconsciously, sensing that there was something hidden.

As luck would have it, when Xiaoguang was secretly glancing at him, he saw Lian Yu's expression. As if he had been electrocuted, Xiaoguang's mouth opened and his whole body began to tremble.

"Xiao Guang?"

Lian Yu was momentarily at a loss. He reached out his hand to comfort the child, but to the child, his gesture looked like a large hand waving at him. Xiaoguang stumbled and hid in Qin Yi's arms, bursting into tears.

Meeting Qin Yi's apologetic gaze, Lian Yu sighed.

He slowly squatted down and looked at Xiaoguang's back, which was trembling with tears.

"Xiao Guang is very afraid of me, right? Uncle knows that he doesn't look like a good person, but there is still Teacher Qin Yi here, right? Xiao Guang doesn't need to be afraid."

Lian Yu couldn't be as gentle as Qin Yi, so he could only try to add more fluctuations to his voice, which was always like a stagnant pool of water.

"Teacher Qin Yi will protect you."

As he spoke, Lian Yu looked at Qin Yi.

Qin Yi was stunned for a moment, and then a smile appeared in his clever eyes.

The young man's soft palm gently rubbed Xiaoguang's hair. Lian Yu heard the trust and reassurance in his voice:

"I know Xiaoguang can't trust others so easily, but Teacher Qin likes Uncle Lian very much. Xiaoguang, are you willing to trust Teacher Qin for once?"

While speaking, Qin Yi kept looking at Lian Yu, as if he was telling him something.

Lian Yu felt his heart trembling.

Xiaoguang reacted.

The thin body turned back a little slowly, and the pair of red rabbit eyes still did not dare to look at Lian Yu, but finally decided to speak.

"Mr. Lian!"

The secretary rushed in shouting.

Frightened by the noise, Xiaoguang shuddered and crawled back into Qin Yi's arms.

Lian Yu pinched his eyebrows.

Well, it’s all in vain.

"Mr. Lian."

The secretary carefully leaned close to his ear, his peripheral vision flickering over to Lian Yang, who was eavesdropping nearby. Lian Yang stopped listening, folded his arms, snorted, and turned his head away.

The secretary then said, "That person is looking for you."

"Who?"

"That's the one you warned me about before!"

Lian Yu was not anxious yet, but the secretary became anxious first. He stamped his feet, as if asking Lian Yu how he could have forgotten everything he had told him to do.

Okay, that's the one.

Lian Yu walked to the car in silence. The driver had already opened the door for him.

Before stepping into the car, Lian Yu stopped and looked back as if he had sensed something.

The young man was standing behind him.

"gentlemen."

Qin Yi pursed his lips:

"Are you leaving? The children...will miss you."

The sunlight fell on the young man's neck, giving him a golden edge.

Further back are the glands. Beneath the fragile skin, the Beta's undeveloped glands lie dormant, easily punctured by its sharp teeth.

Lian Yu retracted his gaze:

"If you feel unwell, tell Lian Yang."

"Why?"

Lian Yu paused while getting into the car.

What why?

"You've been holding back, haven't you? That's why you took action against a Beta like me under those circumstances." Qin Yi looked at him with a pair of bright eyes. "If that's the case, doesn't it mean that I'm useful to you? Then why can't you choose me?"

In full view of everyone, those slender fingers grabbed Lian Yu's wrist, so bold that it was amazing.

"Let me help you."

The whispers were audible only to the two of them, and it was impossible to tell whether they were a transaction or seduction.

But the palm pressed against the wrist was damp, betraying its owner's rapid heartbeat.

Lian Yu slowly pulled his hand away, widening the distance between them.

"I've already said I won't make things difficult for you regarding funding. You don't need to sacrifice yourself to this extent. Please don't say such things again in the future."

After saying that, Lian Yu turned around and got into the car.

The car was driving very fast, inexplicably urgent.

Lian Yu arrived at his destination quickly.

In front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, the man sat with his back to him, leaving only a tall, dark silhouette.

Who is that person?

Lian Yu hesitated, not knowing how to start for a moment.

"You still remember to come back? I thought you were so powerful, so strong that even I couldn't call you back."

The figure behind him spoke slowly, neither hurried nor slow, yet with a sense of oppression.

Lian Yu tilted his head, trying to find some clues from the silhouette, but to no avail. Many conjectures flashed through his mind, and Lian Yu hesitated before speaking:

"……dad?"

The back figure fell silent.

"Father? Daddy? Patriarch? Master?"

Lian Yu tried desperately to recall the settings of the ABO world, and a bunch of names popped up like a list of dishes.

The other party's silence made the atmosphere even more solemn.

Suddenly, an idea popped up.

Could it be that, could it be that this person is actually his—

Lian Yu's heart trembled, and he shouted tremblingly:

"Husband?"

Bang!

The figure suddenly turned towards him, slammed his palm on the table, and said angrily:

"I'm your mother!"

The neat short hair was combed back with hair gel. The woman had sharp eyes, and even too much anger in her eyes was enough to scare people.

——Lian Chenglan.

His biological mother.

Lian Yu remembered.

Because Lian Chenglan was always thinking about arranging a blind date for him at that time, Lian Yu was afraid that she would delay his own torture, so he asked his secretary to keep an eye on her movements, and that's how the secretary mentioned "that person".

After all, if his mother knew about Qin Yi's existence, and threw a check at him and said something like "I'll give you 10 million, just leave my son", Qin Yi would definitely run away faster than anyone else.

"You, you were hit on the shoulder, not the head. How come you don't even recognize your own mother?"

Lian Chenglan stared at him with some suspicion in his eyes.

"I haven't seen you for so long, Mom. You look younger now. I can't even recognize you."

Lian Yu kept his composure and heart still as he spoke nonsense:

"Why don't you share your secret recipe with me? I'm not young anymore."

Lian Chenglan snorted and laughed when he heard this:

"Stop talking nonsense. You know you're not getting any younger, so why don't you put finding an omega on the agenda?"

"good."

Lian Chenglan was stunned as he didn't expect Lian Yu to agree so readily.

"You promised?"

"I agree."

Lian Yu nodded.

Of course he had to agree. As long as he had an omega by his side, Qin Yi would believe that he was not funding the orphanage just to please him, right?

"Okay!" Lian Chenglan slammed the table, "Don't forget what you said!"

Finally solving a big problem, Lian Chenglan was visibly excited. She rang the bell on the table vigorously and called the aunt waiting outside the door in:

"Go get the German Shepherd."

Lian Yu felt strange.

Lian Chenglan seemed to see through his curiosity. He raised his chin and said with a smile, "Don't you want to know how Mom stays young?"

Just as Lian Chenglan finished speaking, he saw his aunt coming in with a small pool of dark brown stuff in her hand.

Lian Yu sat up straight abruptly.

ah?

"Did you really poop? Did you put it on your face?"

Lian Chenglan glared at him:

"Bah! German Shepherd is its name."

As soon as she finished speaking, the little animal in her arms hummed and wagged its tail.

Lian Chenglan rarely slowed down his movements, stroking slowly. The little creature tilted its head in comfort, its bright red tongue curled up, and it breathed softly.

"Anyone will become younger if they keep an obedient puppy."

"Isn't that right, German Shepherd?"

Lian Chenglan lifted the German Shepherd towards Lian Yu and teased him.

The palm-sized puppy stuck out its tongue obediently, without barking or struggling, and its eyes were fixed on its owner.

Seeing that Lian Yu was silent, Lian Chenglan placed the German Shepherd on his lap and raised his chin towards him:

"Come and touch it?"

Lian Yu walked forward as he was told.

Attracted by his footsteps, the German Shepherd on his lap finally noticed Lian Yu's presence and stared at him with a pair of dark grape eyes.

When the tall shadow of the rain fell, the usually well-behaved and quiet puppy suddenly screamed and trembled.

The hand that was about to touch the dog froze in mid-air.

No, it’s okay if it’s just a child, but how can a dog do this too?

Feeling frustrated, Lian Yu took a deep breath and looked up at the sky at a 45-degree angle.

Lian Chenglan sighed and rocked the German Shepherd in his arms.

Amidst the soothing voices of "Don't be afraid," she took the time to comfort Lian Yu:

"Don't overthink it. One day, a tall guy like you stepped on his German Shepherd. Since then, he's been afraid of tall people. He trembles when he sees them. It's not your fault."

Once bitten by a snake, you will be afraid of ropes for ten years.

Lian Yu suddenly realized something.

He grabbed his phone and rushed out the door.

Lian Chenglan was calling out from behind him, and he hurriedly replied with something he couldn't even remember.

As if they had a tacit understanding, Qin Yi's phone rang at the same time he called up the address book.

Lian Yu quickly pressed the answer button.

"alpha!"

"alpha!"

The overlapping voices on both sides of the phone further deepened Lian Yu's suspicions:

"Hikari is afraid of me because I'm an alpha, right? He lied because he was forced by an alpha?"

Qin Yi answered something, but it was drowned out by the commotion in the background.

Lian Yu discerned Qin Yi's anxiety from the scattered words he uttered. He gestured to the driver in the driver's seat and said to the other end of the phone:

"Don't panic, I'll be there now."

When Lian Yu arrived at the orphanage, the commotion had subsided, replaced by an abnormal solemnity in the air.

"Mr. Lian!"

It wasn't Qin Yi who came over, but another staff member. She looked terrified, as if she was about to cry:

"Xiao Guang was kidnapped, and Brother Qin Yi chased him out!"
