Chapter 085: Taking Her to Visit Grandpa’s Grave (2/2)

"Wife~Where is my wife?"

"Let's ask the leader to give each of us a wife tomorrow..."

Pei Tingyu looked at the scene of "demons dancing wildly" with a frown on his face. "Are you sure you can't sleep?"

The teasing stopped abruptly, and seeing that the atmosphere was not right, the few people quickly got out of bed and put on their shoes.

"It's getting late. I'm going to sleep. I have important things to do tomorrow, so I have to stay alert."

"Yes, yes, I fell asleep..."

The next morning, two special cars came to the guesthouse to pick up several representatives of combat heroes. In the solemn and dignified Great Hall, they received personal commendations from the country's leaders.

Newspapers, radio and other media across the country rushed to publicize and report on the event, which aroused the patriotic enthusiasm of the people across the country.

After the banquet, they came to the Red Flag Square and asked passers-by to help take a group photo with the national flag as the background.

A comrade suggested that Si Yang and Pei Tingyu take a photo together.

The two smiled at each other and did not refuse.

"Come closer, don't be so reserved, just act like you are on the train." Xu Mo, holding the camera, kept motioning the two to come closer.

Pei Tingyu gave him a look that showed him how to stop, and he finally withdrew his anger.

In the camera, both of them were wearing green military uniforms, standing side by side in a proper manner. His smile as he looked at the camera was as clear as jade, while hers was as bright as a cold star.

The red and gold first-class medal of honor on Pei Tingyu's chest is dazzling and as admirable as the red flag fluttering in the wind behind him.

Although Si Yang did not join the army, she was awarded the honor of National Combat Hero Model, inspiring thousands of female compatriots to be positive and progressive.

The appearance of handsome men and beautiful women in the same frame always attracts attention. After taking the photos, the two decided to go shopping in other places in Beijing with their comrades.

Tomorrow afternoon is the day to set off back to Yangcheng. In the morning, Si Yang promised Pei Tingyu that he would accompany him to that mysterious place.

The next day, they both got up early. They went to the breakfast shop next to the guesthouse and ordered salty tofu pudding, fried dough sticks and special fried liver. After eating and drinking, Pei Tingyu took her to the tram.

After getting off the car and walking through a quiet and dense forest path, Si Yang saw the sign of Jiufengshan Cemetery.

"Come with me." Pei Tingyu held the lunch box of fried liver in one hand and took Si Yang's hand with the other.

The two of them walked up the stairs into the cemetery. After a lot of twists and turns, they finally stopped in front of an old tombstone.

Si Yang looked at the person on the tombstone and saw that he had the same surname as Pei Tingyu, so he guessed that he must be his family member.

"Grandpa, I'm here to see you." Pei Tingyu opened the food in the lunch box and placed it on the ground in front of the tombstone. He then took off the medal of honor and carefully placed it on the tombstone.

Si Yang stood quietly by, watching him pull out the weeds around the tombstone, wipe off the mud on the tombstone, and kowtow three times to the tombstone.

Since he brought her to visit his grandfather's grave, he wanted to... Just when Si Yang was hesitating whether to kowtow to the old man, Pei Tingyu interrupted her thoughts.

"Yangyang, it's time to go..."

Si Yang was still a little confused. Why did he bring her here?

After leaving the cemetery, Pei Tingyu was silent for a while on the way back, then he spoke, "Grandpa is my only relative in this world. I hope you can forgive my abruptness."

"Huh?" Si Yang was surprised and confused at the same time. What did he mean by "abrupt"?

Grandpa is his only relative? Doesn’t that count Bai Tian?

Pei Tingyu understood the doubt in her eyes, so he simply stopped and looked down at her seriously.

"Grandpa's greatest wish before he died was to see me get married. I wanted him to meet his future granddaughter-in-law, so I brought you here abruptly."

Si Yang looked up at his focused eyes. She realized that his feelings for her were obvious on the surface, yet so cautious.

The atmosphere was somewhat gloomy. Si Yang smiled and wanted to tease the little wolfdog. "Granddaughter-in-law? When did I agree to marry you?" This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
