Chapter 1214 The Strange Old Man

Xu Yuehua nodded in agreement. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and then stepped into the cave entrance first. Qi Guze and the two children, Qi Ziang and Tie Chunsheng, followed closely behind, and the group carefully made their way deeper into the cave.

However, they hadn't expected to encounter a trap upon entering the cave. Arrows rained down on them. Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze quickly drew their swords to defend themselves while protecting the two children. After a fierce battle, they finally managed to deflect all the arrows, but a grave expression appeared on everyone's face.

Xu Yuehuai turned around and found that the people who had been following her were gone. Her heart tightened, and she quickly looked around, trying to find Qi Guze and the others.

However, it was pitch black all around, and nothing could be seen clearly.

Xu Yuehuai was extremely anxious. She was worried that Qi Guze and the others had encountered danger, and she was also afraid that she would lose her way in this unfamiliar place.

Just as she was extremely anxious, she suddenly slipped and fell into a bottomless ancient tomb.

"ah--!"

Xu Yuehua cried out in pain, feeling as if something had hit her body, and then she fell heavily to the ground.

She struggled to her feet and found herself in a dimly lit ancient tomb, surrounded by unidentified objects and skeletons.

Xu Yuehuai was startled; she hadn't expected to fall into such a place. She looked around, trying to find an exit, but discovered that the ancient tomb seemed to be a dead end, with no way out. A wave of despair washed over Xu Yuehuai; she didn't know what to do.

"hiss--"

Just then, she suddenly heard a faint groan.

Xu Yuehuai looked in the direction of the sound and saw an injured old man lying not far away. The old man looked very weak and seemed on the verge of death. Xu Yuehuai felt a pang of sympathy, went over to help the old man up, and asked him about his condition.

The old man told Xu Yuehuai that he too had strayed into the ancient tomb and had been there for a long time. He had tried to find an exit to leave, but had failed. The old man said he was nearing his end and hoped Xu Yuehuai could help him get out.

Looking at the old man's frail appearance, Xu Yuehuai felt a pang of sympathy. She wanted to help him, but she was also worried about her own safety. After all, this ancient tomb was full of unknown dangers, and she didn't know if she could safely lead the old man out.

However, seeing the old man's pleading eyes, Xu Yuehuai finally decided to give it a try. She helped the old man up and followed the way he pointed outside.

Along the way, Xu Yuehuai carefully avoided the traps and mechanisms, afraid that she might accidentally trigger something dangerous.

After a difficult trek, they finally arrived at a relatively safe place. Xu Yuehuai discovered that all the places the old man had led her to were safe, suggesting that the old man must have been there for some time and hadn't just arrived recently.

This made her curious about the old man, wondering how he had survived in such a dangerous place.

However, just as they were about to leave the ancient tomb, Xu Yuehuai suddenly stopped. She looked at the old man in front of her, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes.

Was this old man really the kind of innocent lost person she imagined?

Why does he know so much about ancient tombs?

Why was he able to survive in this dangerous place?

The old man seemed to sense Xu Yuehuai's suspicion. A cunning glint flashed in his eyes, but his movements were anything but slow. He suddenly attacked Xu Yuehuai, his palm strike fierce, as if he wanted to devour her.

Xu Yuehuai was prepared and dodged the old man's attack with a quick movement.

She drew her long sword from her waist, its blade flashing as it clashed with the old man's attack.

"Old man, what are you doing? I helped you, why are you attacking me?" Xu Yuehuai asked loudly while fending off the old man's attacks.

The old man sneered and said, "Since you can't help me leave this place, then pay with your life. I will never let anyone know that I am still alive."

Upon hearing this, Xu Yuehuai felt a chill run down her spine. She realized that the old man was not an innocent lost traveler, but a dangerous figure hiding in the ancient tomb. She had to be careful, or her life might be in danger.

The battle between the two intensified, with sword light and palm winds intertwining and producing a piercing metallic clang.

Although Xu Yuehuai was agile, the old man's internal strength was incredibly profound, making her feel somewhat strained. She had to find the old man's weakness as soon as possible, otherwise, if she ran out of strength, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Just then, Xu Yuehuai suddenly discovered an opening in the old man's defenses. Seizing the opportunity, she thrust her sword out swiftly, aiming straight for the old man's vital point.

The old man was caught off guard by Xu Yuehuai's sudden and fierce attack and was stabbed in the shoulder by Xu Yuehuai's sword.

"Ah!" the old man cried out in pain, his body retreating rapidly. Xu Yuehuai seized the opportunity to chase after him, pointing his sword at the old man's throat.

"Tell me, who are you? Why are you here?" Xu Yuehuai asked coldly.

A flicker of fear crossed the old man's eyes. He took a deep breath and said, "My name is Mo Tianfeng, and I am the guardian of this ancient tomb. I need to use the yin energy in this tomb to cultivate a special technique, which is why I have been staying here all this time."

Upon hearing this, Xu Yuehuai was startled. She hadn't expected that this old man was actually the tomb keeper of the ancient tomb, and that he cultivated such a strange technique. She became even more curious about the ancient tomb and wanted to know more about it and Mo Tianfeng.

"Then why did you attack me?" Xu Yuehuai continued to ask.

Mo Tianfeng sighed and said, "I originally wanted to use your power to leave this place, but you can't help me escape. I know that once someone finds out I'm still alive, my secret will be exposed. So I have no choice but to kill you to eliminate any future trouble."

Xu Yuehuai sneered and said, "Do you think you can kill me?"

Having said that, she moved swiftly, attacking Mo Tianfeng. Their battle erupted once more, sword light and palm strikes intertwining, seemingly threatening to overturn the entire ancient tomb.

After a fierce battle, Xu Yuehuai finally found Mo Tianfeng's weakness and struck him down with a single sword strike. Mo Tianfeng lay on the ground, panting heavily, his eyes filled with resentment as he looked at Xu Yuehuai.

Xu Yuehuai looked at him coldly and said, "This is your own doing. I didn't want to be your enemy, but you kept pushing me. Now, can you tell me how to break the seal on that cave entrance?"

The cave entrance was sealed again after Xu Yuehuai and the others disappeared, and there is no way to open it.
