Chapter 819 Hidden Trap

Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai were filled with righteous indignation. They never expected that the Prince of Ling would be so ruthless and cruel to the Imperial Advisor.

They also found it strange that the Imperial Preceptor held such a high position and prestige in the court, so why did Prince Ling keep trying to frame him?

The Imperial Advisor noticed their confusion and explained, "Prince Ling has always been jealous of my position and prestige in court and wants to seize my power. He believes that as long as I die, he can take my place and become the most important person in court."

Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai felt a chill run down their spines. They hadn't expected the struggle for power to be so brutal; some people were even willing to frame others in their fight for power.

They were also very fortunate that they arrived in time, otherwise the Grand Preceptor would have been in danger.

The Imperial Advisor looked at them gratefully, "If you hadn't arrived in time, I probably wouldn't be alive today. I am truly grateful to you."

Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai humbly stated that they had only done what they were supposed to do.

Xu Yuehuai also asked the Imperial Advisor about the Wuling Kingdom, wanting to learn more about the country.

The imperial advisor told them that although Wuling Kingdom was a small country, its geographical location was extremely important.

Located between the Central Plains and southern Xinjiang, it is a vital transportation hub connecting the two regions. Therefore, the political situation in this country has always been complex, with various forces vying for control.

Ling Wang was one of these forces.

He always wanted to expand his sphere of influence and control more resources and power. To achieve this goal, he did not hesitate to frame his own relatives and even betray the interests of the country.

Xu Yuehuai was stunned. She had never imagined that the political situation in Wuling Kingdom was so dark, and that various forces were so cruelly vying for power.

She also felt regret, because they knew that such a struggle would ultimately only bring disaster to the country and its people.

After bidding farewell to the Imperial Preceptor, Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai returned to their rooms. They sat on the edge of the bed in silence for a long time, thinking about what they had just heard.

They knew they had been caught up in a political storm and had to proceed with extreme caution.

Xu Yuehuai sighed, "Coming to Wuling Kingdom this time was really a mistake."

Qi Guze was silent for a while, then said, "Perhaps we can change some things through our own efforts."

Xu Yuehuai looked at Qi Guze and said, "Do you really think so? We are just two outsiders. How could we possibly change the political situation of this country?"

Qi Guze smiled and said, "Sometimes, small changes can have a huge impact. Although we cannot change the political situation of the entire country, we can do our best to help those who are oppressed."

Xu Yuehuai fell into deep thought after listening to Qi Guze's words. She knew she was an ambitious person, but she had never imagined that she could change the fate of an entire country.

But now, he felt that Qi Guze's words made a lot of sense. Perhaps they really could change some things through their own efforts.

Qi Guze and Xu Yuehua woke up the next morning, their consciousness gradually clearing. They originally planned to take the Imperial Advisor to the Prince of Wuling and tell him that it was actually his younger brother who had kidnapped the Imperial Advisor.

However, when they went to find the Imperial Advisor, they discovered that he had disappeared once again. They searched everywhere but couldn't find any clues. Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai exchanged a glance, both with a hint of helplessness in their eyes.

In the Grand Preceptor's residence, they found only a table with a letter on it. The letter was simple: "Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai, you two are the ones who can break this deadlock."

Xu Yuehuai sighed. She had originally planned to ask the Grand Preceptor about the reasons behind everything Qi Guze had done, but she hadn't expected the Grand Preceptor to slip away again.

Left with no other choice, Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze went to the palace to see the Prince of Wuling. They walked through the magnificent corridors and arrived at the Prince of Wuling's palace.

The atmosphere inside the palace was solemn and dignified. King Wuling sat on his high throne, his face majestic. Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai bowed to King Wuling and then told him about the disappearance of the Imperial Preceptor.

They also told King Wuling about what had happened before, including the kidnapping of the Grand Preceptor by his brother.

Upon hearing this, the Prince of Wuling's face darkened. He never expected that his trusted younger brother would betray him.

After a moment's thought, he looked at Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai and said, "Since you are the ones who can break this deadlock, I hope you can help me find the Imperial Advisor and uncover the truth behind all of this."

Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai agreed, knowing it was a difficult task. But they also understood that it was for the benefit of the entire country, and they had no choice but to do so.

After leaving the palace, Xu Yuehuai said to Qi Guze with a worried expression, "How can we find the Imperial Preceptor? He always seems to disappear when we need him the most."

Qi Guze pondered for a moment, a determined glint in his eyes. "Let's split up and see if we can get any clues. You go and investigate the people around the Grand Preceptor and see if there's anything unusual."

Xu Yuehuai nodded in agreement, and they agreed to meet that evening at a restaurant in the south of the city to exchange information. Qi Guze arrived at the Grand Preceptor's house and knocked on the door.

The door opened, and the Imperial Advisor's attendant looked at him with surprise. "What are you doing here?"

Qi Guze said coldly, "I've come to find the whereabouts of the Imperial Preceptor."

The Imperial Advisor's attendant's expression changed. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Qi Guze grabbed his collar and said, "If you don't tell me where he is, I'll tear this entire Imperial Preceptor's mansion down."

The Imperial Advisor's attendant turned pale; he knew Qi Guze was telling the truth. After weighing the pros and cons, he finally revealed the Imperial Advisor's hiding place.

Meanwhile, Xu Yuehuai also investigated some of the Grand Preceptor's confidants. After some questioning, she discovered that one of the confidants had received a secret letter on the afternoon of the day the Grand Preceptor disappeared.

Xu Yuehuai immediately went to find Qi Guze and told him about this clue. After listening, Qi Guze frowned and said, "It seems that the Grand Preceptor had planned this all along. He deliberately hid from us, but in fact, he has been secretly controlling everything."

The two decided to immediately head to the location mentioned in the secret letter to find the Imperial Advisor. They arrived at an abandoned temple and found the Imperial Advisor in a dark corner.

The Grand Preceptor showed no surprise when he saw them, as if everything was within his expectations. He said calmly, "You have finally arrived."

Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai exchanged a glance, both feeling uneasy. They didn't know what the Imperial Advisor would do next, but they knew it certainly wouldn't be anything good.

Xu Yuehuai asked the Imperial Advisor, "What do you want to do by leading us here?"

The Imperial Advisor gazed at her, his eyes deep, a slight smile playing on his lips. He said softly, "My days are numbered. I simply wish to do as much as I can in my final moments."
