Chapter 1640 The Strong and the Weak

Xu Yuehuai stood on high ground, listening to the unfriendly voices, her expression unchanged. But then, she saw a familiar figure walk into the crowd. After hearing those words, the woman angrily retorted to those who were insulting her, "I say you people are short-sighted, you don't understand the stakes at all! Before, when Sect Master Zisang and Sect Master Weisheng were not around, wasn't it Senior Sister who single-handedly led the entire sect?!"

"I think you all lack any real strength but still want to interfere in other people's world. I despise people like you the most. Why don't you dare to go to the sect leader or the elders and say it yourselves?" Ji Yuanchi spoke without any regard for face, regardless of whether the other party was of higher status than her. She said whatever came to mind, determined that they wouldn't dare to say these things in front of the sect leader and elders, and deliberately chose to attack their sore spots.

When the others heard this, they all fell silent. They looked at each other, and no one dared to say a word.

Xu Yuehuai unconsciously clenched her fists at her sides, her eyes fixed on the situation below. Only after seeing that no one intended to fight Ji Yuanchi did Xu Yuehuai leave the place.

The Grand Elder stood behind her. When Xu Yuehuai turned around, she met his gaze. Xu Yuehuai bowed and said, "Grand Elder."

"What is this good child doing here?" The First Elder came over by chance and saw Xu Yuehuai standing here all alone, so he thought of going over to find out.

Xu Yuehuai said truthfully, "Master announced his seclusion today and handed the sect over to me. I wanted to see what everyone was saying."

As Xu Yuehuai was speaking, the Grand Elder had already moved from the back to the front. Looking down from above, one could see many people talking incessantly.

The Grand Elder's cultivation was above Xu Yuehuai's, so she naturally heard what they were saying. She smiled gently, put her hands behind her back, and said kindly, "What they say is not important. What you do is what matters. On this continent, the strong should not listen to the weak in order to improve themselves."

Xu Yuehuai listened quietly to the Grand Elder's teachings. The Grand Elder didn't say much, but gave Xu Yuehuai a few pointers: "I have high hopes for you, and all the elders will also lend you a hand. You don't need to worry. Just do whatever you want to do."

The elder patted Xu Yuehuai on the shoulder as he spoke, and Xu Yuehuai realized that she had been too tense lately and hadn't even figured out such a simple principle.

"Thank you for your guidance, Elder. I understand." Xu Yuehuai's eyes regained their clarity.

Zisangyi did not choose to go into seclusion on the sect leader's mountain peak, but instead chose to stay in the wooden house in Tianqi City. When he stepped into this place again, he was uneasy, thinking about how he would face the world if he pushed open the door and found that Weishengliu had completely disappeared.

Fortunately, what he feared did not happen. When Zisangyi left, Weishengliu's body was extremely weak, but now it appears that his health has improved considerably.

It had been a long time since I'd been here, and the house was covered in a layer of ash, with weeds growing around it.

Zisangyi didn't rush to cultivate. First, she cleaned up the area around the house, muttering to herself, "I used to think that if one day we were too tired to fight with this world anymore, we would return to a place like this to live out our old age in peace and become mysterious old men, so that future generations would be curious about us."

"What I didn't expect was that you would be living this kind of life first."

Zi Sangyi chuckled softly, but it was unclear how much helplessness and sighing were hidden in that laugh.

Suddenly, a ripple appeared around the house, and a figure appeared out of thin air at the door. Zi Sangyi looked over warily and saw that the person was the same one who had hugged Wei Shengliu that day. He put down what he was holding and walked up to Qi Guze. "May I ask what brings you here, Venerable One?"

Zisangyi wasn't the type to judge people by their appearance. When she saw him, she was very polite and didn't dismiss Gu Ze's youthful appearance.

Qi Guze looked at the person lying on the bed in the room and said, "It's nothing. After you left, I set up a barrier around here. I came here today because I sensed someone had come in, so I came to check."

Zi Sangyi was taken aback, and her mind redefined the man in front of her, but what remained unchanged was her increased respect.

Just as Zi Sangyi was about to say something, Qi Guze disappeared. He smiled helplessly; it was normal for strong people to have eccentric tempers.

After leaving this place, Qi Guze originally wanted to go back and continue waiting for Xu Yuehuai, but looking towards Xuancheng, he was really concerned about what Xu Yuehuai was doing now.

A new idea came to Qi Guze's mind...

If Qi Guze's subordinates knew what he was planning to do, they would probably be furious.

...

Aside from handling these major and minor competitions, the sect's affairs consisted mainly of trivial matters. Xu Yuehuai spent all day dealing with these things and finally understood why Zisangyi had secretly run away, leaving this mess for him.

She sat upright in the study, looking at the books in front of her, and suddenly felt a headache coming on.

There was a knock at the door. Xu Yuehuai got up and went to the door. When she opened the door, a tall figure stood in front of her. "Senior Sister, I see you've been busy for a long time. This is some sweet soup I made. You can rest for a while and have some."

This person is A Qing, a servant from the sect leader's mountain peak. He is a very honest young man, and Zi Sangyi often teases him.

Every time Aqing blushed from being teased, Xu Yuehuai would appear to stop Zisangyi's behavior. On this mountain peak, only Xu Yuehuai could stop Zisangyi.

Xu Yuehuai did not refuse and took the sweet water from A Qing's hand. "Thank you, A Qing. You should get some rest. You don't need to wait outside for me. I'll probably be busy until very late."

Aqing nodded shyly, her ears turning bright red where Xu Yuehuai couldn't see.

Xu Yuehuai turned and went into the house, and Aqing very considerately closed the door for Xu Yuehuai.

Qi Guze tinkered around and created a full-face mask for himself, which looked quite convincing, except that this person's identity wasn't good; he was an outer disciple.

This greatly displeased Qi Guze, but he knew who Xu Yuehuai was, and any significant changes would reveal her identity.

Qi Guze was having a great time here, and the reason he chose this person was simply because this person also had the surname Shi and was named Shi Mu.
