Shi Mu has gone out to gain experience. He has found out that he won't be back for several months to half a year, so he can use this identity with peace of mind.
Qi Guze had just settled into his new identity when he stepped out of the courtyard and ran into Brother Pu. Brother Pu greeted Shi Mu and said, "Are you still going out at this hour? Take a rest. You can do whatever you need to do tomorrow."
Qi Guze never expected that Pu Erge would live next door to Shi Mu. If he had known, he definitely wouldn't have chosen Shi Mu.
Qi Guze pretended to be Shi Mu, speaking timidly and hesitantly, "I want to go and see, nothing will happen."
“That’s not right.” Pu Erge wasn’t one to meddle in other people’s business. Seeing Shi Mu say that, he was about to turn and leave, but then he suddenly remembered something and looked back at Shi Mu. “Didn’t you go out to train?”
Shi Mu didn't say anything on his face, but in his heart he had already started shouting and cursing.
Pu Erge couldn't understand Shi Mu's meaning and just watched with some doubt. Seeing that Shi Mu didn't intend to answer him, his doubts grew stronger. The next second, Shi Mu said, "I suddenly didn't want to go anymore, so I came back. It's still too dangerous outside."
When Shi Mu said this, his eyes darted around, and he looked very scared.
Pu Erge immediately sensed something was wrong and frowned, asking, "Has someone been bullying you?"
Shi Mu fell silent, speechless with frustration. Why would an outer disciple like Shi Mu be neighbors with an inner disciple like Brother Pu?
"No, I just... I just don't want to go anymore. Senior brother, don't worry, go back and rest first." Shi Mu just wanted to get rid of Pu Erge as soon as possible.
Seeing that he couldn't get any information out of him, Pu Erge had no choice but to give up and turn back to his room.
When they were all alone, the fear, worry, and timidity on Shi Mu's face completely disappeared.
He lifted his foot and left the house, heading outside.
He had clearly investigated Shi Mu when he chose him; this person had almost no friends and a very low profile within the sect.
Qi Guze felt that his mission had not gone well.
He walked all the way to the foot of the sect's main peak and encountered Xu Yuehuai, who was returning from outside. He bowed to Xu Yuehuai and called out, "Senior Sister."
Xu Yuehuai simply nodded in response, passing by him without even pausing.
Shi Mu was unwilling to accept this situation and stopped Xu Yuehuai, asking, "Senior Sister, do you need any help lately?"
Xu Yuehuai stopped and looked over curiously. He saw a thin, scholar-like man with a slightly hunched back, as if he hadn't been able to lift his head for many years, making his neck protrude. "Is something the matter?"
Xu Yuehuai did not overlook anyone who could stand in front of her and speak. In case there was bullying from sect disciples, her presence might save a life.
Shi Mu said, "My cultivation is not good enough. I want to find something to do and I want to stay on the sect leader's mountain. I wonder if Senior Sister would be willing to take me in."
Xu Yuehuai looked at the person in front of her and felt that he was somewhat familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen him before. "Have we met somewhere before?"
Xu Yuehuai's words made Shi Mu's back stiffen, fearing that his identity would be exposed. "Senior Sister is a big shot. I am just an outer disciple. If I really have seen her, it should be that I have looked up at Senior Sister's heroic figure from below."
Shi Mu's response was conservative; he didn't directly answer Xu Yuehuai's question but instead chose to dodge the question with a laugh. However, Xu Yuehuai didn't take the matter to heart.
"Senior Sister, I'm really short of spirit stones. Please take me in. I'll serve you meals, tea, and water on the mountain peak, and I'll do all the chores like cleaning the house." Shi Mu quickly tried to persuade Xu Yuehuai to stay, seeing that she was about to refuse him.
Looking at Shi Mu's expression, Xu Yuehuai actually felt a little sorry for him. She said, "Since you are so sincere, you can move to the mountain peak and live with me starting tomorrow. But don't forget, your identity is still that of an outer disciple. You just have an extra job."
Shi Mu bowed to Xu Yuehuai again, his tone filled with undisguised excitement, "This disciple understands. Senior Sister, please rest early. This disciple will take his leave now."
Xu Yuehuai nodded, turned and left. After Xu Yuehuai was completely out of sight, Shi Mu raised his head and straightened his back.
In the shadows, Fu Ziyi watched the man's scheming expression and sneered. Suddenly, Baili Xiuwen barged in. He looked in the direction Fu Ziyi was looking and a cryptic smile appeared on his lips. "It seems that many people still want to curry favor with our senior sister. If you don't want her, that's fine too. It makes room for others. Not bad, not bad."
Fu Ziyi didn't know if he was deliberately trying to go against Baili Xiuwen, but when Baili Xiuwen said those words, he remained silent, just so as not to let Baili Xiuwen get too smug.
Baili Xiuwen curled his lip indifferently. After he left, a certain man stood there, gritting his teeth in hatred, "Now she really dares to approach anything."
Shi Mu naturally noticed the two people in the shadows, but his current status did not allow him to notice, so he pretended not to know anything and returned to his courtyard.
The next morning, before Xu Yuehuai had even woken up, Shi Mu was already waiting at the door.
As soon as Xu Yuehuai opened the door, a magnified face appeared in front of her, startling her so much that she took a step back, almost drawing her sword. "What are you doing standing here?"
"Senior Sister is awake! I'm waiting here for you to wake up so I can take you to breakfast as soon as possible!" Shi Mu was full of energy and didn't seem tired at all.
Xu Yuehuai hadn't really looked at the boy yesterday, but after taking a closer look today, she found that he was quite handsome with delicate features, but he was somewhat insecure and always kept his head down. He spoke cautiously, and there was a hint of probing in his eyes.
Xu Yuehuai nodded in response, not dwelling on the fact that he had scared her at the door earlier.
Xu Yuehuai sat at the table, looking at the incredibly lavish breakfast, and was momentarily speechless. "Where did all this come from? I don't remember the sect's canteen having these?"
Shi Mu scratched his head sheepishly, his face flushed, and looked at the ground. "I made all of these. This way I'll seem more useful. If you don't like them, Senior Sister, I'll make you other things tomorrow. I can do a lot of things!"
Shi Mu spoke cautiously, afraid that Xu Yuehuai would reject him.
Xu Yuehuai was surprised to hear this. She took a bite of the food on the table and was pleasantly surprised. "It's very good and delicious. You don't have to be so reserved here. Just be comfortable. We all treat each other as friends. If you do your daily tasks well, no one will say anything to you."
