Chapter 959 Strange People

“Let’s go too,” Qi Guze said, taking a deep breath.

As the carriage drove further and further away, Xu Yuehuai's eyes remained filled with tears. She kept turning back to look in the direction Qi Guze had left, her heart overflowing with endless longing and reluctance. She knew this separation might be long, but she also knew she had to be strong, for Qi Guze's sake and for her own.

As the carriage jolted along, Xu Yuehuai gradually pulled herself out of her reverie. She knew she couldn't dwell on the emotions of parting forever; she still had many things to do. She had to be strong, she had to be brave, for those who cared for her and supported her.

Escorted by a group of guards, the carriage finally arrived at the capital of the Great Zhou Kingdom.

Xu Yuehuai alighted from the carriage and looked back at the carriage that had accompanied her for a part of the journey, a wave of emotion washing over her. She knew that the carriage, carrying her and Qi Guze's memories, had already driven away into the distance.

Xu Yuehuai entered the imperial city and saw familiar sights and faces. She knew she had returned home.

She must stay in the capital and wait for Qi Guze's return.

Meanwhile, Qi Guze was far away from Xu Yuehuai, working hard for their future. He knew that the feelings between him and Xu Yuehuai had transcended the limitations of time and space, and they would always support and help each other, forever.

The image of the carriage leaving the border seemed still vivid in Qi Guze's mind, and he couldn't help but recall Xu Yuehuai's affectionate farewell kiss. He knew that kiss was deeply etched in his heart, becoming his motivation and courage to move forward.

No matter how many hardships and challenges lie ahead, Qi Guze will face them bravely. He will continue to strive for Xu Yuehuai and for their future.

Xu Yuehuai was originally planning to go to Tianxiang Tower to check on the situation, but when she walked into a nearby alley, she unexpectedly saw the suspicious figure she had seen before.

Her heart was racing, and she took each step with extreme caution.

The figure she glimpsed in the alley last time was mysterious and unpredictable, as if carrying some unspeakable secret. She intuitively felt that this person must be connected to the strange situation at Tianxiang Tower last time.

She subtly gave a wink to the guards beside her, who immediately understood and silently dispersed. Some stayed close to Xu Yuehuai like shadows, while others quietly slipped into the other end of the alley, intending to encircle her.

Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath, adjusted her breathing and pace, and tried her best to appear ordinary so that the person would not notice her.

She stared intently at the suspicious figure, trying to glean clues from the subtle movements and gestures.

However, just as she was concentrating, a peculiar fragrance suddenly wafted into her nostrils. The fragrance was unlike any she had ever smelled before; it was slightly sweet, yet mixed with an indescribable eeriness.

Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened, and she immediately remembered the Ghost Doctor's instructions. She quickly took out the antidote pill from her bosom and swallowed it without hesitation.

However, unexpectedly, the antidote seemed to have no effect. Her vision began to blur, and her strength seemed to be gradually drained away by the fragrance. Finally, she could no longer hold on and collapsed in the alley.

...

After an unknown amount of time, Xu Yuehuai slowly opened her eyes. She found herself in an unfamiliar room, decorated with festive cheer, clearly a wedding room.

Her head was still a little dizzy, but the strange fragrance had completely dissipated. She tried to move her body and found that she felt perfectly fine.

Xu Yuehuai was filled with doubts. She clearly remembered that she had fainted while tracking that suspicious figure, so how did she end up here?

And where is this place?

Her gaze fell on a corner of the room, where an exquisite vase stood, filled with a bunch of bright red flowers.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and a figure dressed in wedding attire walked in. The person's face lit up with surprise and delight upon seeing that Xu Yuehuai was awake.

"You're finally awake!" the man said, his voice trembling slightly.

Xu Yuehuai carefully examined the person in front of him, trying to find some clues from his expression and behavior. He looked somewhat nervous, but his eyes revealed a deep concern and joy.

His face was unfamiliar, and Xu Yuehuai searched her memory but couldn't remember who he was.

"How...how did I get here?" Xu Yuehuai asked tentatively, her voice still a little hoarse.

The man walked to the bedside and sat down. "I brought you back. You collapsed in the alley, and I happened to be passing by, so I rescued you." His gaze was gentle yet firm. "Don't worry, I will protect you and won't let you get hurt."

Xu Yuehua frowned slightly; she wasn't used to this sudden intimacy and promise.

However, looking into the man's sincere eyes, a warm feeling welled up in her heart.

She nodded gently and looked at the man gratefully. "Thank you for saving me," she said, her voice trembling slightly.

The man smiled slightly, a hint of satisfaction flashing in his eyes.

Xu Yuehua tried to move her body and found herself to be somewhat weak.

She looked at the man and asked softly, "What time is it? How long have I been unconscious?"

The man stood up, looked at the sky outside, and replied, "It's night now, and you've been unconscious for a day and a night."

Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened. She thought of the Prince's Mansion and the guards who had been with her. She didn't know what had happened after she fell unconscious. A strong desire to go home welled up in her heart.

She struggled to get up, but the man held her down: "You are still very weak and need to rest for a while."

Xu Yuehuai said urgently, "I have to go back right away."

The man suddenly laughed, reached out and gently pulled Xu Yuehuai into his arms: "We haven't even had our wedding ceremony yet, how can you leave like this?"

Xu Yuehuai was stunned. She looked up at the man and found a strange light gleaming in his eyes. She looked down at herself and realized that she was wearing a red wedding dress, and the man was wearing the same dress.

She tried to break free from the man's embrace, but found that she had no strength at all.

Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down: "But I already have a husband."

The man smiled nonchalantly and said, "You can remarry me."

"Even if you saved me, you can't take me for yourself." Xu Yuehuai shook her head violently.

The man suddenly sneered, "Do you think you can leave here so easily?"

Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened; she knew she was in danger. She looked up at the man and saw a cruel and cold look in his eyes.
