Chapter 960 Unable to Resist

Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. She knew she had to find a way to escape this man's control, or the consequences would be dire.

She began to carefully observe her surroundings, trying to find a chance to escape. She discovered that although the room was beautifully furnished, the windows were firmly sealed shut.

Xu Yuehuai's heart sank; she knew she needed to come up with a more comprehensive plan.

She looked up at the man and said in a soft voice, "I know you have feelings for me, but I already have a husband. I hope you can let me go and let me return to his side."

A flicker of hesitation crossed the man's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by cruelty: "I won't let you go."

Xu Yuehuai's heart tightened, but she did not give up. She continued in a soft voice, "If you really love me, you should let me go back to my own home."

A flicker of struggle crossed the man's eyes, but he still did not give in.

Seeing this, Xu Yuehuai took a deep breath and said in a firm tone, "If you don't let me leave, I will die in front of you."

The man was shocked by Xu Yuehuai's words; he had never imagined that this woman would be so resolute. A flicker of panic crossed his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.

He sneered, "You think you can threaten me?"

A gold hairpin adorned Xu Yuehuai's hair, gleaming dazzlingly. Her eyes shone with unwavering resolve; she had decided to use this final weapon—her life—to threaten the man before her.

She took out the gold hairpin, her long hair cascading down like a waterfall, and he held the sharp gold hairpin tightly in his hand!

The man looked at her, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a smile. He chuckled softly, reached out, and easily snatched the hairpin from Xu Yuehuai's hand, then tossed it lightly to the ground.

"Clang—!"

His movements were elegant and composed, as if everything was under his control.

Xu Yuehuai was stunned. She couldn't believe that this man had so easily taken her weapon. Looking at the gold hairpin on the ground, a sense of powerlessness welled up inside her.

The man gently stroked her cheek, then suddenly pressed her down onto the bed, his eyes filled with desire and possessiveness.

He whispered, "Just give in to me! I'll treat you well!" His voice was full of temptation and threat.

"Don't come any closer!"

Xu Yuehuai tried to resist, but her body seemed to be bound by an invisible force, unable to move. She could only watch helplessly as the man approached her, her fear and despair growing stronger.

"Bang—!"

Suddenly, the door was kicked open, and a powerful aura rushed in. Xu Yuehuai turned her head and saw Qi Hanlin leading a group of imperial guards into the room. Their faces were filled with tension and worry, clearly having heard Xu Yuehuai's cries for help.

Qi Hanlin breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Xu Yuehuai was safe and sound.

He asked with concern, "Aunt, are you alright?" His voice was full of worry and concern.

Xu Yuehuai shook her head, looking at Qi Hanlin with gratitude and admiration in her eyes. She knew that Qi Hanlin had saved her.

The man's expression changed when he saw Qi Hanlin and the others rush in. He picked up the dagger in his hand, held it to Xu Yuehuai's neck, and said viciously, "Don't come any closer!" His voice was full of threat and madness.

Qi Hanlin and the others immediately stopped in their tracks, not daring to make any rash moves for fear of harming Xu Yuehuai. They stared at the man, their eyes flashing with wariness and anger.

"Ha ha ha ha!"

The man looked at Qi Hanlin and the others, knowing he was in dire straits. But he wasn't afraid; instead, he laughed even more wildly. He grabbed Xu Yuehuai and rushed towards the window.

Xu Yuehuai was being pulled along by the man, feeling a little panicked. She knew that once the man jumped out of the window and escaped, she would have no chance to escape again. She had to find a way to ensure her safety!

Just as the man was about to jump out of the window, Qi Hanlin suddenly shouted, "Don't even think about escaping!" His voice was full of authority and command.

The man paused, then turned to see Qi Hanlin holding a sword, pointing it at him. His eyes gleamed with determination and resolve; he was clearly prepared for a decisive battle.

He clung tightly to Xu Yuehuai and leaped out of the window.

Qi Hanlin and the others immediately realized what was happening and followed closely behind. They crossed the courtyard, scaled the walls, and chased after them all the way to the outskirts of the city.

Finally, the man was cornered by Qi Hanlin and his men in a deserted corner. He looked at them, his eyes flashing with madness and despair. He knew he had nowhere to escape.

He gripped Xu Yuehuai tightly, pressed a dagger against her neck, and shouted, "Don't come any closer! Or I'll kill her!"

Qi Hanlin and the others stopped in their tracks, not daring to make a move. They looked at the man and Xu Yuehuai, their hearts filled with worry and anxiety.

Xu Yuehuai had a dagger pressed against her neck, but she felt no panic. She looked at the man, her eyes flashing with calm and determination. She knew she couldn't panic; otherwise, she would only drive the man further mad.

She said softly, "If you let me go, I can assure you that no one will hurt you." Her voice was full of gentleness and soothingness, as if it could calm the madness in the man's heart.

The man looked at her, his eyes flickering with hesitation and struggle. He was clearly moved by Xu Yuehuai's words, but he still dared not let go easily.

Just then, Qi Hanlin suddenly shouted, his voice filled with worry and tension: "Aunt, be careful!" His voice echoed in the empty alley, attracting everyone's attention.

Xu Yuehuai saw Qi Hanlin rushing towards the man, his eyes firm and resolute, holding a sharp sword in his hand, the tip of which was pointed directly at the man.

When the man saw Qi Hanlin rushing towards him, a hint of panic flashed in his eyes, and the dagger in his hand involuntarily loosened its grip slightly.

Qi Hanlin seized the opportunity and rushed forward swiftly. His sword flashed like the wind, instantly knocking the dagger out of the man's hand.

With a clang, the man lost his weapon, and a look of terror appeared on his face.

However, Qi Hanlin did not stop, and immediately engaged in a fierce confrontation with the man.

"How dare you harm my imperial aunt! You'd better die!" Their figures darted swiftly through the courtyard, swords flashing, fists flying, and the sounds of banging echoing everywhere.

Hearing the commotion, the surrounding imperial guards immediately rushed to their aid. They quickly surrounded the man and fought alongside Qi Hanlin.

Xu Yuehuai was carefully helped to the side, away from the center of the battle. Although she was still terrified, she couldn't help but keep an eye on the battle.
