Chapter 1,499 Ghost Forest

"Senior brother, I really know I was wrong. I just thought we didn't need to rush. There are still half a month until the conference starts!" A male voice rang out not far from Xu Yuehuai.

There were three people in the group: a girl and two men, dressed in bright colors with a touch of oddity.

Xu Yuehuai ignored him and continued to watch by the river, hoping to catch a fish to improve his meals.

She had been away from the town for two days. She was heading towards Qingcheng, and there was a long stretch of road in the desert. So, for food, she either ate the dry rations she had brought with her or searched for something to eat in the forest.

Xu Yuehuai hadn't prepared much food before setting off. In order to make the journey easier later on, she could only endure the initial hardship by catching fish in the river.

Clearly, the three people over there had also noticed Xu Yuehuai's actions.

"Hey, look over there, isn't there a girl who jumped into the river? No, I have to go save her!" With that, the man ran over like lightning, rushed into the river in a few steps, splashing water everywhere. "Girl! Wait!"

After the man reached Xu Yuehuai's side, he quickly grabbed her collar and pulled her ashore.

Xu Yuehuai's expression was not good as she watched the fish escape from in front of her. She frowned slightly and stared at the man in front of her with displeasure. "You better have something to say."

"Girl, tell me what's bothering you that makes you want to jump into the river? There are so many beautiful things in this world, why do you have to do this?" The man was dressed in red, riding a spirited horse. His clothes were very unique, and his hair had a few strands of golden yellow, which made him look like a young man.

Xu Yuehuai laughed in exasperation, "Look carefully, is the river here big enough to drown someone?"

She pointed one finger at the river and clenched her other fist, as if the fist was about to land on the man's face.

The remaining two people rushed over as well. "Miss, my name is Jin Nan, and I am his senior brother. My junior brother is a bit mischievous, but he means no harm. We came from that side just now and we really didn't know the river was so shallow. He was just eager to ask for help, so we hope you won't blame him."

After Jin Nan finished speaking, Xu Yuehuai wasn't so angry. "Fine, I saw some fish in the river and thought I'd catch some to eat, but your junior brother rushed over and scared my fish away. How are you going to compensate me?"

Xu Yuehua crossed her arms, clearly unwilling to give up.

"How can you be like this! Ding He jumped into the water because he wanted to save you. You're not grateful, and now you want compensation from us?" said a little girl in a sky-blue dress with a sword by her side, indignantly.

Xu Yuehuai remained expressionless. "First of all, I wasn't in any danger, so there was no such thing as him jumping into the water to save me. Secondly, he caused my food to leak away, leaving me with nothing to eat. Shouldn't he compensate me?"

Xu Yuehuai's reasoning was sound and well-founded, leaving the little girl speechless for a moment.

"you!"

"Yu'er, that's enough." Jin Nan interrupted the little girl, Yu'er, in time.

Ding He stood to the side with his head down, knowing he had caused trouble again. "Um... I'm sorry, miss, because I made sure you had nothing to eat."

"How about this, I'll give you my rations, okay?" Ding He took a bag from his waist. It was heavy and looked like it was filled with fried cakes and the like.

"No way! Senior Brother Ding He, if you give it to her, what will you eat? If we go any further, we'll reach the Ghost Forest, where there's nothing to eat. We'll have to stay there for at least five days!" Yu Er jumped out and stopped Ding He the moment he handed over the item.

Xu Yuehuai looked at the group, wondering what exactly this Ghost Domain Forest they had mentioned was. With that thought in mind, she asked the question aloud.

"You don't even know about the Ghost Forest? What are you doing here?" Yu Er looked Xu Yuehuai up and down warily.

"I want to go to Qingcheng. I'm new to this place and not very familiar with it, so I don't know much about it." Xu Yuehuai's attitude was quite good. She knew that if she really wanted to pass through the area ahead, she would have to find out what kind of place the Ghost Forest they were talking about was.

Seeing this, Jin Nan considerately explained to Xu Yuehuai.

The so-called Ghost Forest is a place filled with immense resentment and ghostly energy, left over from a time of war. Many people died during the war, and no one cleansed the area. The resentment accumulated, and since no one came to remove it in time, it eventually became this place.

It's a paradise for evil and demonic cultivators.

After listening, Xu Yuehuai could only sigh that he had truly entered a world of cultivation. All the science he knew before seemed unable to explain what was happening before him.

"That's roughly what the Ghost Forest is like. I see you're not very old, and you're all alone. Unless it's absolutely necessary, it's best not to go any further and head back as soon as possible," Jin Nan kindly advised.

Xu Yuehuai smiled slightly, "Thank you, but I still plan to go. I have something very important to do. Considering you gave me the information, I won't take the rations; it'll be considered as payment."

Yu Er didn't like Xu Yuehuai and thought he was just trying to scam her. But after Xu Yuehuai said those words, she was surprised and realized that she had misunderstood him, but she just wouldn't admit it.

After the two groups separated, Xu Yuehuai remained seated in her original spot, intending to wait for the little fish to return.

After catching and eating a few fresh fish, Xu Yuehuai continued on her way with satisfaction. In fact, halfway through her journey, she felt that she was walking too slowly, so she made herself a blanket and lay on it, using her spiritual power to walk on her own.

When Ding He and the others saw her walk past them, they couldn't believe their eyes. "Is that...that girl?"

"It looks a bit like it, the clothes look familiar." Jin Nan seemed a little silent.

After confirming that the person was Xu Yuehuai, Ding He was very excited and quickly chased after her, calling out, "Miss! Miss! Wait for me!"

Xu Yuehuai heard someone calling her from behind and recognized the voice. She didn't want to pay attention, so she increased her spiritual power and flew even faster.

It would normally take a whole day to enter the Ghost Forest, but she arrived in half a day.

She frowned as she looked at the different scenes inside and outside.

She stowed away her flying carpet and carefully stepped into the ghost realm.

"Who did this brat come from! Prepare to die!"

As soon as Xu Yuehuai stepped inside, a sword aura came straight at her. She dodged to the side, but the next second, the sword aura flew horizontally, as if it was going to cut her in half!
