Quan Cang frowned, slightly displeased with the scene. The patrolmen kept circling around, and he grabbed one of them at random. "What's going on outside? How did it get like this? Has someone attacked?"
After the three questions were asked in a row, the person who had been captured could clearly feel Quan Cang's tension and worry. A hint of embarrassment and nervousness appeared on the other person's face, and then he said cautiously, "This was all ordered by the Second Venerable. He said that he had your permission, so he did it. No one else dared to disobey, so they lowered the temperature outside."
Quan Cang frowned, and the more he heard, the harder his movements became, as if he wanted to crush the wrist of the person in front of him. The person in front of him had an embarrassed and troubled expression on his face. He still wanted to survive, but looking at Quan Cang like this, it was a problem whether he could survive under Quan Cang's control today. However, he had heard that Quan Cang always treated his subordinates very well.
Before the man in front of him could even figure it out, Quan Cang had already released his hand and left. The others behind him glanced at Quan Cang's retreating figure several times. The man rubbed his aching wrist, his face contorted in pain. "What on earth happened? Did they have a fight? What do we do now? Will they start fighting? Should we run away?"
"Hey, where do we have a chance to escape? If you ask me, if they really start fighting, we might as well find a place to sit and wait to die. It would be more direct and simpler, saving us from all those complicated steps, okay?" The person next to them spoke a bit harshly, but it was the truth. Everyone looked at each other, feeling somewhat unconvinced, but no one dared to stand up and say anything. They all lowered their heads, avoiding each other's attention.
After receiving the results, Quan Cang headed straight for the location of the Rat Man. Everyone knew that the Rat Man was the most important person in Quan Cang's heart. While calling Quan Cang "Master," they also called the Rat Man "Second Master," as a sign of respect for him.
The rat-man watched this scene, hands on his hips, a hint of satisfaction on his face. "Excellent! This is exactly the feeling I wanted! Let me see, let's see who's still alive!"
"Isn't this a bit much? Should we restore the temperature now? What if the master finds out and gets angry?" Seeing one person after another collapse, the others began to panic. After all, this was no small matter.
The rat-man's first reaction upon hearing this was displeasure. He stared straight at him, his eyes filled with threat, and said, "You should support me now, instead of hesitating and considering whether or not this should be done!"
Upon hearing this, the man's eyes showed a hint of trepidation before he nodded, his eyes clearly showing his reluctance to disobey. Seeing his fear, the rat-man's vanity was greatly satisfied. He nodded approvingly, then patted the man's head, appearing very concerned, and said, "Alright, look how scared you are. I won't eat you. Don't worry, as long as you handle this matter well, I'll naturally put in a good word with my master."
The rat-man's eyes were filled with satisfaction, thinking that the other person had completely submitted to him. However, after the rat-man finished speaking, he did not see any happy expression on the person's face. He was a little confused and puzzled. He turned his head and saw that the other person was lowering his head and trembling.
The rat-man instantly realized something was wrong. He turned around and found Quan Cang standing right behind him. The moment their eyes met, the rat-man's heart skipped a beat, and he had a bad feeling. He cautiously asked, "Master, what brings you here? Weren't you resting? You can leave this to me. You should go and rest."
"Is this how you handle things after I hand it over to you? You're two-faced? How do you think I'm going to settle accounts with you for what happened today?" Quan Cang's figure was low, his eyes were downturned, and only half of his black pupils were visible.
The rat-man wanted to say something in his defense, so he quickly looked up, but he met Quan Cang's gaze immediately. He was incredibly embarrassed and stammered, "Master, I don't think I meant that. I just think these people deserve to die. And all I did was lower the temperature. If they can't come up because of the temperature, it means they're not suited for this place at all, and they're not suited for you, Master!"
The rat-man was so eager to show his loyalty that his tone became a little hurried. The people around him were a little stunned to see him speaking so naturally, but when they saw him starting to panic, they immediately understood that even a rat-man would inevitably be reprimanded for doing such a thing in Quan Cang.
The others trembled with fear. Quan Cang wouldn't reason with them, nor did he have time to investigate who did it. If there was any punishment, it would be to wipe them all out.
Quan Cang sneered and flicked his sleeve, saying, "Don't presume to know me. Now you'd better restore this place to its original state and stop causing any more trouble. If I see you again, you can just disappear from this world."
The rat-man nodded hurriedly, not daring to disobey in any way. "Yes, yes, I will start doing it right away. Master, please calm down and don't be angry."
Everyone else was stunned, completely unprepared for this turn of events. They all stared blankly at the scene. After Quan Cang left, the rat-man stood up straight, a smug look on his face. He rubbed his wrist, a smile on his face.
She snorted coldly, her gaze towards the others like a snake's forked tongue. "What are you looking at me for? Didn't you hear what the master just said? Hurry up and do your job! Do you all have a death wish?"
Upon hearing what the rat-man said, the others instantly came to their senses and began packing their things, their eyes filled with panic.
The rat-man stood there, his eyes revealing a mixture of satisfaction and anger, though the mood wasn't particularly high.
Everyone kept their heads down, their faces expressionless, but in their hearts they were all wondering when the Rat Man's status in Quan Cang had fallen to such a level that he could do such a thing and then just dismiss it with a single, casual remark, as if nothing had happened.
Everyone was busy with their own things, occasionally glancing up tentatively before quickly looking down again, as if there was something terrifying about it.
The rat-man didn't take it seriously at all. He fiddled with the pendant he was holding in his hand. Looking down from the mountain, it was almost impossible to see anyone standing there.
