Chapter 2018 A Fight Over a Book

Nangong Yu seemed to have just come to his senses and realized what he had just done. He put one hand to his forehead, with a hint of regret in his eyes. No one was watching him, and he just kept looking down at the ground, as if searching for stars that only existed in the sky.

Nangong Yu noticed everyone's embarrassment and their awkward expressions of not wanting to embarrass him. He pursed his lips, chuckled twice, and said, "I was just joking with you all. Seeing how serious you all were, Fu Ziyi and I deliberately planned this whole scene. Don't you all find it funny? Why isn't anyone laughing?"

The atmosphere, which wasn't so awkward before, became even more awkward after Nangong Yu said those words. Everyone was unsure whether to look up or down. Nangong Yu realized this, sighed, and returned to his seat with a wry smile. He took a deep breath and said, "Actually, what he said isn't wrong. I do like Senior Sister, I like her a lot, that's why I kept chasing after her before. But later, I also felt that Senior Sister didn't belong to me, so I let go. You don't need to be so nervous. I really think that someone as capable as Senior Sister couldn't possibly die because of such a small setback. She must still be alive, we just don't know it."

Nangong Yu stopped deceiving herself and spoke frankly. How much everyone believed was up to them. But the best thing was that the atmosphere wasn't like it was before, where no one dared to speak.

A brief silence fell over everyone. Shangguan Xi, unable to bear the atmosphere any longer, stepped forward and looked at them. "Look at the atmosphere here! What's wrong? Why is everyone so gloomy? Why isn't anyone happy? Everyone needs to cheer up! Don't let small things get to you!"

"Alright, what you're saying isn't much better than what Nangong Yu just said." Fu Ziyi was a professional at tearing things down; she was still the same sharp-tongued, incisive Fu Ziyi from before.

Even the usually eloquent Shangguan Xi was at a loss for words. She paused for two seconds, slightly stunned, then nodded, pointed at Fu Ziyi twice, and said with disapproval in her eyes, "Look at you, this kind of person is just jealous. I've only said two words and they're already trying to sabotage me."

Fu Ziyi changed direction and continued to close his eyes to rest. They were locked in a room with no food or toys; all they could do was meditate.

Baili Xiuwen turned his gaze to Fu Ziyi again, and then a voice rang in Fu Ziyi's mind, "Weren't your words a bit excessive?"

Fu Ziyi looked at Baili Xiuwen with a strange expression, as if he had said something particularly odd and illogical. "Stop guessing such useless things. Are you so bored that you need to use such words to pass the time?"

Fu Ziyi didn't stand on ceremony at all, but to make it seem less strange, he spoke all these words to Baili Xiuwen through telepathy.

Seeing his expression, Baili Xiuwen knew that he hadn't completely let go of the past. His words of indifference were just a pretense; he couldn't possibly be truly indifferent.

Of course, Fu Ziyi himself didn't think so. Xuan Chi and Shi Mu exchanged glances and looked at the four of them. "I think the two of us seem a bit too calm and normal in this group. It feels like the two of us are the only normal people here. It seems like their brains aren't working properly."

Xuan Chi remained noncommittal, but he was somewhat shocked that Shi Mu could tell such a lame joke.

As time passed by, they grew even more silent. In the days they had been imprisoned, apart from the medicine provided in their cells on the first day, no one had come to them, and they had no food or entertainment. They were simply locked up here. It wasn't that they hadn't thought about escaping; they had tried every method they could think of, but to no avail.

So they gave up and stayed there obediently. "When are we going to get out of this godforsaken place? I've wanted to stay here for ages, I can't stand it for another second. It's utter garbage!"

"If you have the energy to curse, why don't you sit down and rest properly? Maybe if you rest well, you'll have the strength to open this barrier and get out?" Shangguan Qi comforted Nangong Yu with some unreliable words.

Everyone fell silent, as if only in this way could they find a moment's rest.

"Do you think we'll be trapped here forever? Quan Cang doesn't just want to keep us locked up here, watching us slowly kill each other and die, living a life worse than death, until we finally choose to commit suicide, right?" Nangong Yu lay on the ground, his hands behind his head, looking towards the only light in the cell.

This time, Shangguan Xi didn't say that he was bold enough to say such a thing. "I think it's not impossible, but you're being too bold. I don't think we'll kill each other, so what Quan Cang wants to see is destined not to happen."

"Maybe he put something in there? Like a book? Because everyone has been bored for too long, this book is like spiritual food! Whoever has the book won't be bored anymore, so everyone started fighting over it, and the scene was quite bloody!" Nangong Yu got more and more excited as she spoke, and even became a little agitated.

Fu Ziyi sneered and said to Nangong Yu, who was lost in thought, "Actually, you're always making such a racket, and no one has time to be quiet. Now that you can get a book and read it quietly, perhaps our irritation will subside."

Fu Ziyi's disdain for Nangong Yu was veiled, and it was quite obvious.

Nangong Yu decided not to argue with this person this time and to live her own life.

Quan Cang observed the group for a while. Seeing that they didn't continue arguing or break up, but instead chatted together like friends, he felt a little puzzled and angry. He closed the window, turned around, and left. Looking up, he saw that the snow outside the barrier was so heavy that it could almost bury a person.
