Chapter 876 Leaving the Village

The morning sun shines on the quiet town, and the air is filled with the faint smell of cooking smoke.

The Ghost Doctor stood in front of the oxcart, his gaze deep. He asked a villager for an oxcart and got on with Xu Yuehuai.

Driven by guards, the oxcart slowly departed from this warm little village.

Qi Guze's injuries were severe, and he still needed to be carried. He was placed in a sedan chair and carried by another team of guards.

When the villagers learned that they were leaving, they all came out of their homes to wave goodbye.

"Thank you for taking us in last night. We will remember it." The Ghost Doctor's voice was hoarse but firm as he expressed his sincerest gratitude to the villagers.

Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze also thanked them.

"Slow down!"

Please be careful on your journey!

"Please don't get hurt again!"

The villagers gave their instructions, and Xu Yuehuai agreed to them all.

"Okay, we'll be careful. You should head back now, it's still a bit chilly early in the morning!"

Along the way, the oxcart bumped and jolted, passing through forest paths and crossing streams and shallows.

Although Qi Guze was inside the sedan chair, he could still feel the bumps and jolting.

He felt a mix of emotions, sensing that something was going to happen on this trip.

Xu Yuehuai lay on the oxcart, nestled in a haystack, looking up at the sky.

Do you think Bai Yu will cooperate with us?

"Maybe, but I'm not entirely sure," the Ghost Doctor said.

"Will we be in danger on our journey to the capital?"

"It might be safer than you staying outside."

Xu Yuehua nodded upon hearing this, understanding that the Ghost Doctor would definitely not harm them, so their journey would certainly not be in mortal danger.

Finally, they arrived at the capital of the Eastern Sang Kingdom. The city walls were tall and solemn, and a golden national emblem hung above the city gates, demonstrating the majesty of the royal family.

The Ghost Doctor presented a token, and the soldiers guarding the city immediately opened the city gates.

Upon entering the palace, they went straight to Prince Baiyu's residence.

Bai Yu was very concerned when he learned that Qi Guze had returned injured, and waited for him outside the palace early in the morning.

"Your Highness Bai Yu!" Qi Guze called out from inside the sedan chair.

Hearing the voice, Prince Baiyu turned around: "You're finally back! Are you feeling any better after your serious injuries?"

"I'm fine," Qi Guze said softly. "This time, I'm very grateful for the help of the Ghost Doctor and my queen."

Bai Yu nodded as he looked at Xu Yuehuai, and felt even more that this woman was extraordinary.

Bai Yu then led them into the hall: "You should stay here and recover from your injuries for now. We'll talk about other things later."

He then turned to the Ghost Doctor, "Please come with me."

The Ghost Doctor nodded in agreement and followed Prince Bai Yu into the inner room. The two of them spoke in hushed tones, seemingly discussing something important.

Qi Guze was arranged to rest in an extremely comfortable bedroom. The room was elegantly decorated yet luxurious, and the bed was soft and comfortable, as if he were on a cloud.

Outside the window is a lush bamboo forest, swaying in the wind and making a rustling sound, like a beautiful melody.

Xu Yuehuai helped Qi Guze sit down on the bed. Qi Guze's face was slightly pale, but his eyes remained firm. Xu Yuehuai carefully adjusted his posture to make him as comfortable as possible.

“It seems that His Highness Bai Yu does not intend to be our enemy,” Xu Yuehuai said softly, her gaze lingering on Qi Guze for a moment, trying to glean more information from his expression.

Qi Guze nodded slightly, but did not speak. His brows were furrowed, as if he was thinking about something.

"This is indeed a good thing, but we cannot let our guard down." Qi Guze finally spoke, his voice weak but full of composure.

Xu Yuehua nodded, indicating her agreement with his point of view. She knew that in this dangerous world, one could never let one's guard down.

So, Xu Yuehuai decided to let Qi Guze get some rest. She helped him take off his shoes and gently covered him with a blanket. Qi Guze closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep.

Xu Yuehuai sat on the edge of the bed, carefully observing Qi Guze's sleeping face. His complexion had improved considerably, and he no longer looked so pale.

She felt a surge of relief and a touch of warmth in her heart.

In this unfamiliar world, they are each other's only support.

Xu Yuehuai knew she had to remain vigilant to ensure their safety. So, she decided to first check the area around the house.

She tiptoed to the door, carefully opened it, and peeked out to see what was happening outside.

It was completely silent outside, and nothing unusual was observed.

Xu Yuehuai breathed a sigh of relief. She knew that as long as they were careful, they might be able to get through this crisis.

She returned to the bedside and looked at Qi Guze's peaceful sleeping face. His breathing was even and calm, and he looked very serene.

Xu Yuehuai sat there quietly, watching over him until nightfall. As moonlight streamed into the room through the window, Qi Guze slowly opened his eyes.

He saw Xu Yuehuai sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at him tenderly.

"You're awake," Xu Yuehuai said softly, her voice full of tenderness and concern.

Qi Guze nodded, feeling that his body had recovered considerably. He recalled the events of yesterday and couldn't help but feel a pang of emotion.

"Thank you," Qi Guze said, his voice filled with gratitude, "for taking care of me all this time."

Xu Yuehuai gently shook her head. "There's no need for formalities between us."

Qi Guze smiled, a smile that carried a hint of wicked charm and mockery, instantly making Xu Yuehuai's heart race.

He pulled her forcefully, causing her to fall onto the bed, their bodies pressed tightly together.

Xu Yuehuai felt Qi Guze's body temperature and heartbeat, and her face instantly turned red.

Qi Guze looked down at her, his eyes deep and passionate. His lips gently touched hers, and Xu Yuehuai's hands involuntarily tightened around his collar.

Their breaths mingled, and time seemed to stand still at that moment.

It took Qi Guze quite a while to end the kiss.

He gently moved aside, watching Xu Yuehuai straighten her clothes. Just then, footsteps sounded outside.

Xu Yuehuai blushed; she knew someone had arrived.

Qi Guze frowned and asked, "Who?"

A voice rang out: "It's your subordinate!"

Qi Guze said, "Come in."

The door was pushed open, and a man dressed in black walked in.

He kept his head down, not daring to look up at them.

"What's the matter?" Qi Guze asked.

The man raised his head, revealing a resolute and composed face.

He said, "During the time you were unconscious, the Kingdom of Mingyue was leaderless and in chaos. The Kingdom of Wuling's surprise attack failed, and the King of Wuling, who had previously been controlled by treacherous officials, was also in disarray."

Qi Guze's eyes sharpened. He gave the man a deep look and then said, "I understand. You have secretly instructed our forces not to make a move and to observe the situation. You may leave now."
