Soon, they came to the edge of a lake. The water was crystal clear and shimmered. However, there seemed to be no path ahead.
Xu Yuehuai stopped and looked around the lake: "Perhaps the path is right under here."
"The bottom of the lake?" Yan Qing's eyes widened in surprise. "How is that possible?"
Xu Yuehuai smiled slightly: "In this mysterious place, nothing is impossible. Yan Qing, go and scout ahead."
Yan Qing nodded, took a deep breath, and jumped into the lake. Ripples spread across the water before it returned to calm.
Xu Yuehuai and the Ghost Doctor stood by the lake, waiting anxiously.
However, as time passed, the lake remained calm and still, without any movement.
Xu Yuehuai's expression gradually became serious: "No, I have to go and check the situation."
The Ghost Doctor stopped her, saying, "It might be dangerous down there. If you want to go, wait until I get there first." With that, he flashed and jumped into the lake.
However, not long after, the lake surface suddenly turned blood red.
Xu Yuehuai's heart sank: "Ghost Doctor! Yan Qing!" Without hesitation, she jumped into the lake and swam towards the blood-red direction.
The lake water was icy cold, but Xu Yuehuai felt nothing. She swam past patch after patch of water plants, finally arriving at the blood-red spot.
The Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing lay at the bottom of the lake, their bodies covered in wounds. Beside them lay the carcass of a huge beast. Clearly, they had been attacked by a beast lying in ambush.
Xu Yuehua felt a sharp pain in her heart, but she had no time to vent her emotions. Picking up the two of them, she swam desperately towards the lake.
When she finally surfaced, she found herself in a strange place, not where she had been before, and the wild beast they had rescued was gone.
This was a vast, secret chamber, its walls covered with all sorts of strange murals. These murals depicted figures dressed in unusual clothing, some wielding longswords, others casting spells, and still others battling other creatures…
Xu Yuehuai looked around: "These murals... could they have been left behind by time travelers? Is this one of their gathering places? Or one of their killing grounds?"
Her heart was filled with questions and curiosity. However, at this moment, she was more concerned about how to save the Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing.
In the dim moonlight, Xu Yuehuai's resolute face appeared even more sharp and aloof.
She gently placed the Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing in a dark corner of the secret room, then slowly squatted down and meticulously examined their injuries.
A horrifying wound was torn open on the Ghost Doctor's chest by the sharp claws of a wild beast, and blood gushed out like a babbling brook, quickly staining his once white clothes red.
Yan Qing's body was covered with bite marks from wild animals. Although the wounds were not deep, the venom had penetrated his body deeply, causing him to fall into a deep coma.
Xu Yuehuai understood that he had to quickly detoxify the two and stop the bleeding.
The next instant, she immediately took out her treasured herbs from her backpack, gathered her inner strength in both hands, gently crushed the herbs into powder, and then carefully applied them to the wounds of the two people.
Then, she took out a few antidote pills from her bag and put them into the mouths of the two men.
In the secluded room, only Xu Yuehuai's tense yet orderly breathing could be heard.
"You two must pull through."
“We’ve been through so many life-or-death moments, you absolutely cannot stop here.”
"We will see world peace together in the future."
She waited anxiously, her eyes fixed on their faces, afraid of missing the moment they woke up.
Time seemed to stretch on endlessly at that moment, each second feeling like torture.
Finally, just when Xu Yuehuai was about to despair, the Ghost Doctor's eyelids twitched slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.
When the Ghost Doctor's gaze met Xu Yuehuai's concerned eyes, he smiled slightly, a hint of gratitude flashing in his eyes.
"Thank you, Your Highness, for saving my life," he said weakly.
Seeing this, Xu Yuehuai finally felt a huge weight lifted from her heart. She gently patted the Ghost Doctor's shoulder and comforted him, "It's good that you're awake. Yan Qing has also taken the antidote, and I believe he will wake up soon."
Just then, Yan Qing slowly woke up. He struggled to sit up, rubbed his aching head, and asked with a confused look, "Where am I? How did I get here?"
Upon seeing this, Xu Yuehuai quickly told them everything that had happened.
After listening to Xu Yuehuai's account, Yan Qing's face showed a look of regret.
"It's all my fault for being so reckless, which put everyone in danger," he said remorsefully.
Xu Yuehuai's voice flowed like a clear spring, her tone calm yet profound: "Yan Qing, Ghost Doctor, this is something we could not have foreseen. Who would have thought that such a ferocious threat lurked beneath this seemingly tranquil lake? Our top priority is to find a way out together, otherwise the unknown dangers will be like claws in the darkness, constantly threatening us."
She looked up, her gaze seemingly piercing through the darkness of the stone chamber to see the light behind it.
The three exchanged a glance, then stood up and began to carefully explore the mysterious stone chamber. Their eyes were first drawn to the murals on the walls, which were colorful and seemed to contain ancient stories in every stroke.
Yan Qing reached out and gently touched the figures in a mural, as if trying to feel the warmth and history within them.
The Ghost Doctor squinted, intently observing the murals. His fingertips lightly glided across the stone wall, making a soft sound. "These murals are exquisite, but they don't seem to have left us any useful clues."
Xu Yuehua nodded slightly, her gaze following the figures in the mural, as if trying to find a chance to escape.
Suddenly, Yan Qing's finger touched a mural. The figure in the mural seemed to be summoned by something, and the long sword in his hand was instantly swung out. A sharp sword aura broke through the air and rushed straight towards the three of them!
The three cried out in surprise and hurriedly dodged. The sword energy grazed their bodies and cut a deep crack in the wall.
"Oh no! This is a trap!" Xu Yuehuai's expression changed, and she hurriedly took several steps back.
However, it was too late; the entire stone chamber began to shake violently. The murals on the walls crumbled, revealing hidden doors.
The three were swept to different places by the ground tremors and eventually entered different secret doors.
When Xu Yuehuai finally stood firm, she found herself in a huge maze.
This maze consists of countless winding passages, each leading to an unknown room.
She pinched her palm hard to force herself to calm down. She knew that this was a critical moment, and she had to think calmly to find a way out.
