Chapter 1258 The Labyrinth of Illusions

But where is the real exit?

There are many different choices here, and if you choose the wrong one, it could very well be a price you can never pay!

Ultimately, she chose a path based on her intuition, observing her surroundings as she walked.

This time, she remained vigilant to avoid encountering any traps like Yan Qing had just done.

As she ventured deeper into the maze, she discovered it wasn't as dangerous as she had initially imagined. Using her intuition and wit, she navigated several rooms successfully.

Xu Yuehuai stood at a crossroads once again. She took a deep breath, as if she could smell the ancient dust and unknown dangers lingering in the air. Every choice she made felt like a test from fate.

"Where should I go next?" she murmured to herself, her gaze shifting between the two winding paths.

She slowly closed her eyes, her fingers gently touching the stone wall, as if trying to feel the marks left by time. Suddenly, she opened her eyes, a confident glint in them.

"This is the road." She took a firm step.

As she ventured deeper, the surrounding scenery gradually became eerie. The items in the room seemed to be arranged haphazardly, but Xu Yuehuai knew that some secret must be hidden within these seemingly chaotic arrangements.

She gently stroked the wall, feeling the coldness and hardness of the stone. Suddenly, she stopped, her gaze falling on an ancient stone statue. The statue's eyes were deep and eerie, as if they could see into one's soul.

"Why is this stone statue placed here?" Xu Yuehuai murmured to himself.

Just then, a slight noise caught her attention. She quickly turned around and saw a figure emerge from the corner. The person was dressed in black and wore a mask, obscuring their face.

"Who are you?" Xu Yuehuai asked warily.

The man in black did not answer, but silently pointed at the stone statue.

Xu Yuehuai's heart stirred, and she walked to the stone statue to examine it carefully. Suddenly, she noticed a tiny crack at the corner of the statue's eye.

She reached out and gently touched the crack. The instant her fingertips touched it, the statue suddenly emitted a dazzling light. After the light faded, the statue slowly moved aside, revealing a hidden passage.

Xu Yuehuai was overjoyed and quickly stepped into the passage. The passage was dark and deep, but she was not afraid at all. She knew that she was not far from the exit.

However, just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from behind. Xu Yuehuai turned around and saw the man in black chasing after her. Her heart tightened, and she quickened her pace.

After a long chase, Xu Yuehuai finally arrived at the end of the passage.

She pushed open a door, and suddenly everything opened up before her—she had finally escaped the maze!

However, the moment she stepped out of the maze, she found the Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing waiting for her not far away. Their faces showed surprise and joy.

"Your Highness! You've really found the exit!" the Ghost Doctor exclaimed excitedly.

Xu Yuehua smiled slightly and nodded: "Yes, I didn't expect it to go so smoothly."

Yan Qing walked over to her and asked with concern, "Your Highness, are you alright? I think I saw a man in black following you."

Xu Yuehuai shook her head: "I'm fine. As for that man in black, I don't know his identity either. However, he seems to be very familiar with this maze."

"That's strange. Did that person come in with us? But if not, how did he survive here all by himself?" The Ghost Doctor rubbed his chin, finding it increasingly puzzling.

"Perhaps he's not even alive?" As soon as Xu Yuehuai said this, Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing fell silent.

"It seems that the least likely thing is actually the most likely one." The Ghost Doctor believed her statement.

"Alright, we should go back now." Xu Yuehuai clapped her hands and walked out first.

The Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing followed closely behind, discussing their experiences in the maze along the way.

However, what they didn't notice was that shortly after they left, the man in black reappeared in the maze. He stood there silently, a strange smile playing on his lips, as if waiting for something…

Xu Yuehuai and the other two walked a little further, but the road ahead did not seem as smooth as they had imagined.

A massive stone gate stood before them, like an insurmountable barrier.

"Why is there another stone gate here?" Yan Qing's voice echoed in the empty corridor, his eyes full of confusion.

Xu Yuehuai and the Ghost Doctor also fell into deep thought, looking around as they tried to find clues to open the stone door.

A moment later, Xu Yuehuai stepped forward and gently touched the strange runes carved on the stone door with his fingers. He could only feel a coldness but found no information.

She said helplessly, "These runes are even stranger than any we've seen before, and I can't find a way to open them."

The Ghost Doctor crouched down and carefully examined the stone slabs on the ground, trying to find some mechanism or clue.

However, as time went by, they tried various methods but still didn't know how to solve the problem.

"Aww!"

Just when the three felt helpless, the beast they had once rescued suddenly appeared in front of them.

Its eyes gleamed with wisdom, as if it had a special understanding of this stone gate.

"Little guy, what brings you here?" Xu Yuehuai stepped forward to greet the wild beast.

The beast howled again, as if in response to Xu Yuehuai.

Both the Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing found this scene rather strange, never expecting to see this beast here again.

Suddenly, the beast walked to the stone gate, lowered its head, and gently tapped the runes on the stone gate with its forehead.

"Bang!"

The runes on the stone gate suddenly began to operate in a strange way, eventually forming a Bagua (Eight Trigrams) array.

Gradually, the Bagua formation lit up with a bright light, and once again returned to a state of tranquility, while the stone door opened!

The three stared in astonishment at what had just happened, as if they had witnessed an incredible miracle.

"Little guy, you're amazing!" Xu Yuehuai looked at the beast with gratitude.

Its eyes were filled with smugness and pride, as if to tell them, "See, I told you I could do it!"

"Thank you for your help this time, but we really have to say goodbye. I really wish I could have taken you with me." Xu Yuehuai stroked the soft fur of the wild beast.

"Awooo! Awooo!" The beast rubbed against Xu Yuehuai's palm, then took a step back and waved its paws, as if seeing them off.

"Then we'll be going now, goodbye!" Xu Yuehuai waved goodbye to the beast and left with Ghost Doctor and Yan Qing.

As the dust settled, the world behind the stone door revealed itself to them—a dark and chilly space, like a forgotten tomb. Countless nameless tombstones were scattered here, giving off a profound sense of deathly stillness and heaviness.
