Chapter 1237 The Mystery of the Cliff

Qi Guze used his lightness skill to step on the protruding rocks around him.

However, it seemed that even the heavens were not on their side, and the last stone that Qi Guze had picked shattered!

"Bang!" The two fell heavily to the ground, the pain making it almost impossible for them to breathe.

Xu Yuehua struggled to lift her head and saw Qi Guze lying pale-faced beside her. Her heart tightened, and she reached out with trembling hands to check his breath.

"Thank goodness you're alright," her voice trembled slightly with relief, "I was afraid I was going to crush you to death."

Qi Guze also struggled to open his eyes. He looked at Xu Yuehuai, then at the dark surroundings, and said, "We...we are still alive."

The two struggled to their feet, only to find themselves surrounded by darkness, with the only sounds being the howls of wild beasts in the distance.

Xu Yuehuai gripped Qi Guze's hand tightly, her voice trembling, "We have to find a way out, to find Zixin."

Qi Guze nodded, drew his sword from his waist, and tried to cut through the thorns in front of him. However, his injuries were too severe, and every movement aggravated his wounds, causing him excruciating pain.

Seeing this, Xu Yuehuai quickly stepped forward to support him, saying, "Your injuries are too severe, let me do it."

She took the sword from Qi Guze and began to painstakingly hack at the thorns in front of her.

The two supported each other as they struggled forward in the darkness. Sometimes they spoke in hushed tones, sometimes they remained silent.

After countless falls and struggles, they finally saw a glimmer of light ahead.

The two looked at each other and smiled, their eyes filled with hope.

However, when they emerged from the darkness and saw the figure dressed in Qi Zixin's clothes, they discovered it was nothing but a trap.

"I never expected this to be a puppet, just a trick the men in black used to deceive us!" Qi Guze slammed his fist on the stone wall next to him, shattering a large piece of stone, but it couldn't suppress his anger at all.

Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze exchanged a bitter smile, their hearts filled with helplessness and anger. Xu Yuehuai grasped Qi Guze's injured and bleeding hand, her voice tinged with endless grief and despair: "My daughter, where is she?"

Qi Guze kissed the top of her head: "Ayue, don't be sad. No news is actually the best news. We will definitely find Zixin."

"Mm." Xu Yuehuai nodded slightly.

The night was as dark as ink, and a faint light shone through a crack at the bottom of the cliff, as if it were a guide left by the god of fate for the two heroes in the darkness.

Holding a clean handkerchief, Xu Yuehuai gently approached Qi Guze, her eyes filled with worry and determination.

"Let me see your hand." Xu Yuehuai's voice was incredibly gentle. She gently lifted Qi Guze's injured hand, which had a deep scratch. The blood had already congealed, but it was still shocking to see.

"I'm fine, but you, you just fell off the cliff, are you hurt?" Qi Guze tried to pull his hand away, but Xu Yuehuai held on tightly, not giving an inch.

"I'm perfectly fine. It was you who got seriously injured protecting me." Xu Yuehuai's lips curled into a smile, a smile that hid a hint of helplessness and heartache. "Don't move, let me bandage you up."

Her hands deftly moved across the handkerchief, and soon a pretty bow was tied around Qi Guze's hand. Looking at her focused expression, a warm feeling welled up inside him.

“We need to find a place to rest.” Xu Yuehuai stood up, dusted herself off, and her eyes were firm and bright, as if they could dispel all darkness.

So the two stepped out of the dark crevice and walked towards the moonlight. The moonlight shone on them, draping them in a silvery veil. They came to a stream, its waters babbling as if telling ancient stories.

"This will do." Xu Yuehuai looked around and nodded in satisfaction. She picked up some branches and leaves and quickly built a makeshift shelter. Then she placed some leaves on the ground, and the two of them lay down.

Night deepened, and all was quiet. However, this tranquil night did not last long. Suddenly, a deep roar shattered the silence, and a ferocious beast charged out of the darkness, its eyes gleaming with bloodlust.

Xu Yuehuai immediately sat up alertly, standing in front of Qi Guze, the long sword in her hand gleaming coldly in the moonlight.

"You should rest now, leave this to me." Her voice was firm and strong, as if it could ward off all fear.

Qi Guze watched her slender figure, a strange emotion welling up inside him. He struggled to sit up, wanting to fight alongside her. But Xu Yuehuai turned back and gave him a reassuring smile.

"You're injured, get some rest," she said softly, then turned to face the ferocious beast.

Under the moonlight, a fierce battle unfolded. Xu Yuehuai moved with agility, her sword flashing like a rainbow, each swing carrying the force of a thunderbolt. Although the beast was exceptionally ferocious, it gradually showed signs of fatigue under Xu Yuehuai's onslaught.

Finally, after a mournful roar, the beast collapsed in a pool of blood. Xu Yuehuai, panting heavily, her longsword stained with blood, turned to look at Qi Guze, a victorious smile on her face.

"Ah Yue, you're amazing!" Qi Guze exclaimed sincerely. Looking at her tired yet still strong face, he felt an indescribable surge of emotion.

"Well, I was personally taught by you!" Xu Yuehuai raised her eyebrows proudly, and then she got busy.

She lit a fire and roasted the beast's legs until they were golden brown and crispy. Soon, the fragrant roasted meat was placed in front of the two of them.

"It smells so good! I didn't expect you could make something so delicious under these circumstances," Qi Guze exclaimed. He took the roasted meat Xu Yuehuai handed him and began to eat it heartily.

"Hmm, your wife is the number one gourmet in the four kingdoms!"

Xu Yuehuai sat beside him watching him eat, a satisfied smile on her face.

"You should fill your own stomach too, don't keep feeding me." Qi Guze handed the roasted meat in his hand to Xu Yuehuai.

“You’re injured, eat more,” Xu Yuehuai smiled and shook her head, but her eyes revealed a hint of worry. “I wonder how Zixin, Ziang, and Chunsheng are doing now? Have they eaten enough?”

Hearing this, Qi Guze felt a surge of longing in his heart. He squeezed Xu Yuehuai's hand and comforted her, "They will definitely be able to take good care of themselves. When we find them, we'll give them a proper rest."

Hearing this, Xu Yuehuai's worries eased slightly. She leaned on Qi Guze's shoulder, and the two of them gazed at the bright moon under the starry sky, pondering what to do next.
