Suddenly, the figure stopped and turned around to face them. His face was as pale as paper, his eyes were empty and lifeless, and the black aura emanating from his body had become even more intense.
"whispering sound!"
He opened his mouth, let out a shrill roar, and pounced on them.
Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai were prepared and dodged his attack with a quick movement.
The figure seemed unwilling to give up and continued to attack, but his movements became slower and slower, and the black aura gradually dissipated.
"Bang!"
Finally, he collapsed to the ground and stopped moving.
Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai cautiously approached him and found that he had already fainted.
They examined his body carefully and found no trace of any elixir on him.
However, they found a black token on his waist with a strange pattern engraved on it.
“This is…” Xu Yuehuai said solemnly, holding the token, “This is the strange symbol of that alien race!”
"Just as I thought." A cold glint flashed in Qi Guze's eyes. "It seems we really found the right person this time. Next, we just need to follow the clues to find the mastermind behind it all."
As night faded and the sky began to lighten, Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai, atop a tall building, gazed at the distant horizon in the hazy dawn light.
"This covert battle over the stolen elixir has only just begun." Qi Guze's voice was exceptionally clear in the morning breeze.
Xu Yuehuai's gaze remained fixed on the distance: "Those people won't let this go easily, we need to be even more careful."
"We'll discuss this further when we get back. Let's take him back to Tianxiang Tower first." Qi Guze looked at the man lying to the side, stood up, and prepared to leave.
But the next moment, a series of hurried footsteps suddenly came from the alley.
Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai immediately looked alertly in the direction of the sound, only to see hundreds of puppets emanating black energy rushing towards them.
"It seems those people have already sensed my presence," Xu Yuehuai said coldly, her hand already gripping her longsword tightly.
Qi Guze frowned: "You go back first, I'll hold off these strange things."
“You’ve been feeling quite weak lately, I’ll stay with you.” Xu Yuehuai said, drawing her longsword and standing shoulder to shoulder with Qi Guze, ready for the upcoming battle.
The puppet horde drew closer, their eyes empty and cold, like soulless shells.
Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai exchanged a glance, then jumped off the high-rise building to meet the puppet crowd.
Swords flashed, and although the puppet group was numerous, they gradually became outmatched by the combined efforts of Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai.
However, these puppets seemed tireless, surging in endlessly, plunging the two into a fierce battle.
The battle lasted for a long time, and Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai were covered in sweat, with more and more wounds on their bodies.
Despite their best efforts, they were still somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer number of puppets.
"We need to find someone to come and help," Xu Yuehuai said breathlessly.
"Whoosh!" Qi Guze whistled.
A moment later, a cry of an eagle came from the sky, and an eagle swooped down and landed on Qi Guze's shoulder.
He quickly said something to the eagle, then patted the eagle on the head: "Go, find the guards to come and help."
The eagle spread its wings and soared into the sky, disappearing into the horizon.
Before long, the guards arrived at the scene. They joined the battle with excellent training, fighting alongside Qi Guze and Xu Yuehuai.
Thanks to everyone's efforts, the puppet group was finally captured.
After the battle, Xu Yuehuai took out pills and gave them to the puppets.
In a short while, they regained their normal expressions.
However, when they woke up, they had no idea what had happened to them.
"Do you remember how you got here?" Xu Yuehuai asked the puppets.
They all shook their heads, their faces showing confusion: "I don't know, I opened my eyes and I was here."
"I was sleeping peacefully at home, and I don't know why."
"Did you arrest us?"
"Who exactly are you people?"
What do you want to do to us?
Faced with their questions, Xu Yuehuai could only sigh, "It seems they don't know anything. Let's send them back."
The guards each led their puppets away, and Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze also prepared to return to Tianxiang Tower.
On the way back, the two remained silent.
"We must find out the truth about all this as soon as possible." Qi Guze broke the silence. "The appearance of these puppets is so strange. We don't know what terrible things they are secretly manipulating."
Xu Yuehuai said, "We need to have the guards increase their patrols and report any suspicious activity immediately."
As they talked, they arrived at the entrance of Tianxiang Tower and walked inside side by side.
And so, the covert battle over the theft of the elixir officially began.
Sunlight slanted across Tianxiang Tower, creating dappled shadows that contrasted sharply with the tranquil atmosphere within.
After a night of searching and investigation, the guards and soldiers returned one after another, their faces showing exhaustion and heaviness.
After a short rest, Xu Yuehuai and Qi Guze went to the courtyard in the building.
In the center of the courtyard, a pool of clear water quietly reflects the sunlight, while the surrounding flowers and plants seem to sense the oppressive atmosphere, drooping their leaves and remaining silent.
Xu Yuehuai glanced around at the people standing in front of him, frowned slightly, and said in a deep voice, "Five of you are missing."
The guards and soldiers looked at each other, and for a moment no one responded.
They seemed not to have fully recovered from the tension and danger of the previous night, and now, being told that their companion was missing, a wave of panic inevitably washed over them.
Qi Guze's eyes sharpened instantly, and he asked coldly, "Who killed my personal guard?"
His voice wasn't loud, but every word seemed to carry frost, sending chills down one's spine.
The five missing men were all his carefully trained bodyguards; their disappearance was undoubtedly a challenge to his authority.
Upon hearing Qi Guze's words, the guards immediately stood alertly on the left, their swords unanimously pointing at the soldiers on the right.
The soldiers were startled by this sudden turn of events, and they waved their hands in explanation.
"It wasn't us!"
"How could we possibly harm the prince's secret guards?"
"We simply can't beat the secret guards!"
"To attack them would be suicide."
The soldiers' voices were filled with fear and unease; they clearly hadn't expected this to happen.
The guards remained silent, their sharp eyes scanning the soldiers as if searching for any clues.
Xu Yuehuai quietly observed all of this, her eyes deep and sharp.
Suddenly, she spoke up: "That person is among you, but he is likely disguised as a soldier. Aren't you going to come out? I've already spotted you."
Her voice was calm and firm, as if everything was under her control.
