Chapter 108 (First Release)
Ning Wanwan still looked at Ansel with some skepticism.
Seemingly realizing that his words weren't persuasive enough, Ansel quickly added, "I'm in pretty good shape. I've been wandering around and have encountered a lot of dangers, so my self-healing ability is quite strong."
Ning Wanwan blinked, looking at the boy's tall and handsome but not at all robust body: "Ah...Is that so?"
If that's really the case, then Anseil's self-healing ability is simply too powerful.
“But your physique doesn’t look strong at all. The monster is so powerful, how could you have fought it for so long and still…” Ning Wanwan was still somewhat skeptical.
"real!"
Seeing the girl's doubts, Ansel, perhaps ignited by something, suddenly thrust his hand in front of Ning Wanwan.
They even stuffed the dagger, which they had somehow pulled from the monster, into her hand.
"If you don't believe me, try cutting me! I'll prove it to you!"
Ning Wanwan, holding the dagger, looked completely bewildered.
"How can you prove this?"
"Cut me once! I'll heal right away and show you!" Besides a competitive spirit that seemed to come from nowhere, Ansel also exhibited a strange desire to show off.
Especially when the girl looked at him in shock, his desire to perform seemed to intensify even more. He actually grabbed Ning Wanwan's wrist, the one holding the dagger, and was about to cut his own hand!
It was less like cutting and more like stabbing someone directly with a knife!
"Wait!" Ansel's merciless force startled Ning Wanwan, who quickly shrank back, pulling him back and forth as if in a tug-of-war.
Ansel looked puzzled, as if he couldn't understand why Ning Wanwan wouldn't look at his proof now: "Don't you want to see it?"
"I don't want to!" Ning Wanwan shook her head like a rattle-drum, afraid that if she said "I want to," the other party would immediately cut her hand with a dagger without hesitation.
The girl's resistance was clearly genuine, so Ansel had no choice but to release Ning Wanwan's hand and sigh with some regret.
Ning Wanwan: "..." What are you regretting?!
She sighed silently, feeling somewhat weary.
Ansel's thought process... really seems a bit different.
Why would someone try to prove their self-healing ability by dragging someone else into stabbing them in the back?
Ansel then said, seemingly quite aggrieved, "So now you believe my body is very strong, even stronger than a monster?"
Ning Wanwan: "..." Can these be compared?
And I never said the monster was stronger than you! How did you come to this conclusion?
Ansel was still staring at Ning Wanwan, as if she were very important to him.
Ning Wanwan had no choice but to say, "I believe you."
Ansel then revealed a satisfied smile.
Ning Wanwan was even more confused: "But, Ansil, didn't you lack talent and aptitude?"
If self-healing ability is really that strong, can't it be considered a talent?
Ansel: "..."
Ansel: "Haha, this isn't much of a talent. The criteria for determining talent are much stricter than Wanwan imagined."
Does it have to be strictly required that it be officially detected before it can be considered valid?
Ning Wanwan blinked gently.
"Oh right! The monster's corpse is still lying there taking up space! I'll go deal with it." Ansel suddenly jumped up, patted his head, and went to the other side.
Ning Wanwan: "..."
Ning Wanwan thought for a moment, then rewrapped the remaining dried biscuits that she had deliberately kept, and stood up to walk to Ansel's side.
"for you."
Ansel looked at it, somewhat surprised: "How come there's still some left? Wanwan, you didn't eat enough."
Seeing that Ansel was about to try feeding her himself again, Ning Wanwan had no choice but to stop him and continue eating her biscuit.
However, standing next to the monster and looking at its disgusting and grotesque twisted corpse, Ning Wanwan couldn't eat any more of the pancake after a few bites. She chose not to torture herself anymore and instead put the pancake away and stuffed it back into her pocket.
"Is the monster really dead?" Ning Wanwan looked down for a while and couldn't help but ask in a low voice.
"Completely dead."
Ansel said confidently, casually kicking the monster's corpse twice, and said with some dissatisfaction, "It got off too easily, dying so easily."
Unlike Ansil, Ning Wanwan didn't dare to continue touching the monster's corpse. She kept thinking about the monster's terrifying fangs and gaping maw that were about to bite her.
Ning Wanwan let out a breath: "That was really dangerous, there were actually monsters here..."
"Yeah, who knew there was a monster hiding in this cave? We almost lost our lives." Ansel sighed, then looked relieved. "Luckily, we were very lucky."
Ning Wanwan glanced at him, not reminding him that he had just been trying to prove he was stronger than the monster.
It's normal for young people to hold their breath and talk nonsense.
Ning Wanwan thought about it with great maturity and composure.
"This is the cut Wanwan made on the monster with her dagger, and the monster died because of it."
Ansel crouched down and observed for a while, then pointed to a certain part of the monster's corpse and smiled at Ning Wanwan.
But you were the one who threw the dagger and stabbed the monster. Ning Wanwan was about to say something when she heard Ansil continue—
"Wanwan's aim is excellent; she's able to kill monsters. I think Wanwan, you must possess the talent and aptitude that everyone dreams of."
Ning Wanwan: "No, that's not necessarily true..."
“There definitely will be!” Ansel said firmly, then winked at Ning Wanwan mischievously, “Once you join the village, I’ll be clinging to your coattails.”
Ning Wanwan: "It can't be that bad..."
Ansel: "Of course! Doesn't Wanwan want her talent to be detected?"
Ning Wanwan couldn't lie to herself and say she didn't want to: "I do want to, but..."
Ansel: "That'll do then."
Then Ansel showered Ning Wanwan with compliments, praising her in every way he could, saying how amazing she was and how talented she must be, and so on.
Ning Wanwan was amazed at how Ansel could say so many exaggerated compliments without blushing at all.
Anyway, the speaker remained calm, but Ning Wanwan's face turned bright red as she listened.
Ning Wanwan coughed twice and covered her face: "Don't say anymore."
Ansel looked innocent: "Well, but I haven't finished yet."
Ning Wanwan didn't want to talk to him anymore, and even regretted coming with him to see the monster's corpse. She turned around and went back to sit in the corner.
Perhaps it was because the stones were too cold, but Ning Wanwan felt a little dizzy for a short while after she sat up straight.
It took me a while to recover.
However, it's normal to feel a little uncomfortable in this kind of environment, and Ning Wanwan wouldn't be so dramatic as to make a fuss over something like this.
She felt a little tired, so she couldn't help but adjust her posture, close her eyes, and want to take a short nap.
...
Late night, late night, late night!
There seemed to be a voice calling her, a familiar, clear, and pleasant boyish voice.
Ning Wanwan tried to open her eyes, but her eyelids struggled a few times without opening.
After several attempts, she finally gave up and continued to try to curl her body up.
It's so cold... It's both cold and hot...
It's so painful...
"Wanwan, your cheeks are so hot..." The voice rang in my ears again, filled with surprise and worry.
Ning Wanwan couldn't help but scrunch up her little face.
It's so noisy.
Stop arguing. Let her get some sleep.
"Wanwan, do you have a fever?"
Ning Wanwan wanted to cover her ears, but her hands were too weak to hold them down. She wanted the sound to stop, so she raised her hands to try and cover the source of the sound.
"Ugh... Wanwan," the other person seemed not to understand what she was doing, making a surprised and puzzled sound.
Ning Wanwan's dazed movements suddenly paused.
So warm... the other person's temperature.
Her brain, already a jumbled mess from the fever, was completely unaware of what she was doing. Ning Wanwan wrapped her arms around the source of heat and shrank towards the warmth.
"Wanwan..."
Ning Wanwan had no strength left in her body, let alone her hands. She held onto the large, pillow-like heat source with great difficulty, refusing to let go.
She was a little worried that now that she had finally managed to hug this warm object, this moving heat source would shake her off and run away.
However, what reassured her a little was that the large heat source only struggled briefly and symbolically before becoming still.
Ning Wanwan snuggled closer, feeling even more at ease, greedily absorbing the warmth, wishing she could stick her whole body to it.
So warm...
A sweet smile appeared on Ning Wanwan's face.
She seemed to vaguely hear the voice muttering something.
"This time... I've really lost out..."
"I have to stay here forever... to keep you company..."
It's starting to make noise again. Please stop making noise and let me get some sleep.
Ning Wanwan frowned, somewhat annoyed, and rubbed her head against the source of warmth she was holding, trying to quiet the other person down.
Then the other party obediently quieted down.
"Okay, okay, I won't bother you anymore. Get some sleep, you'll get better."
The other person said this last sentence. Then, as expected, silence fell.
That's more like it.
Ning Wanwan finally smiled contentedly and drifted back into a sweet and warm dream.
...
When Ning Wanwan woke up, she was still a little dazed, but she immediately sensed that something was wrong.
The most important thing is that it feels so warm.
However, this is practically impossible in a cold cave without any heating.
Before Ning Wanwan could get any answers to her questions, she looked closer and saw the boy's chest right in front of her.
Even through the thin fabric, one can still vaguely see the smooth, beautiful, and vibrant lines.
Ning Wanwan: "..."
So that's why I felt so warm—it was because I was sleeping in someone's arms…
Wait, wait a minute!
This doesn't feel right at all!
Ning Wanwan stared in shock, rising slightly. The thick coats draped over the two of them slipped down, letting in a chill through the gaps.
The blond boy, still drowsy, squinted at her, then lazily closed his eyes again, not forgetting to pull the coat he was using as a blanket around them even tighter.
"Come closer, like last night, wouldn't that be nice?"
