Chapter 30 (First Release)
Ning Wanwan, who had rushed out of the school gate, hadn't even had a chance to breathe a sigh of relief.
Perhaps because it was longer after school, she didn't see Jiang Chengran at the school gate this time, which allowed her to leave smoothly.
Just as I was about to go home, I heard the system say hesitantly.
[I feel like this cat... looks a lot like the one the male lead owns.]
Ning Wanwan was taken aback: "The male lead... is that little black cat related to the male lead?"
[It seems so...] The system wasn't really sure, but it felt that the little black cat seemed too human-like, and its black fur and blue eyes really did resemble the cat that the male protagonist kept later in the story.
In the story, Shen Wu originally did own a black cat. Later, because she cooperated with the male lead and their relationship grew closer, she gave the black cat, which showed unusual abilities, to the male lead.
However, the story doesn't go into detail about how the little black cat was a stray cat in the school's woods before being adopted by Shen Wu, nor does it describe the reasons and process behind Shen Wu adopting the cat, which is why the system didn't remember it last time.
Ning Wanwan: "Let me see."
The plot is indeed similar to what the system said; after Shenwu, the male protagonist is given a mutated black cat.
Later, the black cat, as a pet, grew stronger and stronger by the male protagonist's side, becoming a great help to him.
Ning Wanwan: "..." Obviously, this is most likely the little black cat she just fed!
What incredible luck she has... to run into such an important character in the story.
However, Ning Wanwan quickly calmed down, and even had a feeling of "I knew it".
After all, that little black cat was indeed quite different from other ordinary kittens.
"Host, will there be any negative consequences?" the system asked cautiously.
Ning Wanwan paused, shook her head, and said firmly, "No, it won't happen."
Thinking about it carefully, although she hadn't anticipated that the little black cat would become the male protagonist's cat, it had nothing to do with her. She had only fed the little black cat twice.
The plot will likely continue to unfold as it did, with the little black cat being adopted by Shen Wu and then given to the male lead.
This is also a good ending for the little black cat, since it can only grow and become stronger by staying by the male protagonist's side.
The powerful black cat described later in the story is completely different from the weak stray cat we see now.
This made Ning Wanwan genuinely happy for the little black cat.
So Ning Wanwan put the matter aside for the time being and continued walking home.
"System, help me think of what to eat tonight?"
"Rice bowl, noodles, rice noodles... which one should I choose? I'm so conflicted." Ning Wanwan stroked her chin, thinking seriously, her little face full of hesitation.
The system then carefully selected options for the host: "How about some mixed rice noodles? You just had rice bowls yesterday, let's try something different..."
Just as the atmosphere was starting to lighten, Ning Wanwan's cell phone suddenly started vibrating.
Ning Wanwan took out her phone, saw Lin Ruowei's name on the caller ID, paused for a moment, and then answered the call.
"Hello, is there something you need...?"
Before Ning Wanwan could finish her soft question, Lin Ruowei interrupted her.
"Ning Wanwan, where are you now? Did you catch that black cat?"
Lin Ruowei's voice sounded somewhat impatient and indignant. If you listened carefully, you could also hear the noisy background noise from the other side, which seemed to be a lively gathering.
Ning Wanwan: "Didn't catch them..."
"How could you be so useless, you didn't even catch this... Never mind."
Lin Ruowei wanted to curse but held back, and said impatiently, "Come here right now, I'll send you the address."
Ning Wanwan: "..." Help! She didn't want to get involved in other things; she just wanted to go home, eat, sleep, and rest.
"What's wrong?" Ning Wanwan's silence made Lin Ruowei feel uneasy. "Did you hear that?"
Ning Wanwan finally asked, "Why do we have to go? Do I absolutely have to go...?"
"Of course! Get over here right now!" Lin Ruowei raised her voice. "I'll transfer your travel expenses to you, hurry up!"
Before Ning Wanwan could say anything, the other end of the phone hung up.
Within seconds, she received a transfer from Lin Ruowei, which was far more than the cost of a taxi ride.
Ning Wanwan stared at the numbers for a while, then sighed.
The original owner was able to afford designer bags, clothes, cosmetics, and the like only because of occasional "tips" from Lin Ruowei and Zhao Rui.
Because the original owner had always acted this way, even if Ning Wanwan wanted to do things differently from the original owner, she didn't seem to have much confidence in doing so.
"I feel like a corporate slave who has to work overtime." Ning Wanwan resignedly turned around and hailed a taxi. She had already made up her mind not to accept the money Lin Ruowei sent her, except for the fare.
Ning Wanwan didn't really like the feeling of owing someone.
As for Lin Ruowei... think about it carefully later, and after helping to correct the distorted plot, see if there's any way to distance yourself from her.
Fortunately, the place they were going to wasn't far. Following the address Lin Ruowei sent, they arrived at a KTV in the city center. Just before Ning Wanwan stepped inside, the system was still a little worried.
[Host, there won't be any danger, will there?]
"It shouldn't be that bad." Ning Wanwan had also thought about it carefully. "When Lin Ruowei answered the phone this afternoon, she said that Shen Wu would also be coming. A gathering that can invite the female lead Shen Wu must be quite formal."
Ning Wanwan pushed open the door with the private room number that Lin Ruowei had mentioned.
As soon as you open the door, you are greeted by lively sounds and flashing lights, with singing and chatting filling the air.
Ning Wanwan was a little dazzled by the flashing disco balls used to create the atmosphere. She squinted uncomfortably, then quickly went into the private room and closed the door.
The private room was quite large, but because it was dimly lit, she didn't attract much attention when she entered. The few people who did notice her didn't come over to talk to her because of her usual quiet, unassuming demeanor.
Ning Wanwan spotted Shen Wu at a glance. Even among a large crowd, Shen Wu stood out, sitting there with poise and elegance, a faint smile on her exquisitely beautiful face.
Most people surrounded Shen Wu, flattering her, clearly indicating that Shen Wu was extremely popular.
Lin Ruowei, who was usually flattered and fawned over, sat resentfully to the side, glancing intermittently in Chen Wu's direction, while the surroundings were cold and deserted.
The composition is inexplicably funny.
Even Zhao Rui, who was usually with her, was sitting at the other end, holding a drink in his hand, casually staring at her as he drank.
...Hmm, staring at her
Ning Wanwan was immediately startled, realizing that Zhao Rui had noticed her at some point, and his eyes were indeed looking at her.
Ning Wanwan pursed her lips and looked away, but Zhao Rui spoke up, "Why did you come here?"
Zhao Rui's shout drew the attention of many people.
Ning Wanwan: "..." She paused and said that Lin Ruowei seemed to have something to talk to her about, but Zhao Rui patted the seat next to him.
The younger brother next to him tactfully walked away.
"Sit here, your voice is too soft, I can't hear you." Zhao Rui said casually, still looking at Ning Wanwan.
Ning Wanwan didn't really want to go over, so she looked at Lin Ruowei.
But it was Lin Ruowei who called her over, and now the other person is sitting there as if she doesn't even see her.
But Ning Wanwan was certain that Lin Ruowei had seen her.
Ning Wanwan was completely baffled as to what was going on.
"Aren't you coming over here?" Zhao Rui said impatiently.
Ning Wanwan shook her head: "I'll sit here." She chose a corner that was relatively far away from Lin Ruowei and Zhao Rui.
Zhao Rui was so angry he laughed. This little follower was becoming more and more disobedient and less and less afraid of him.
Just as he was about to stand up and pull Ning Wanwan over, Shen Wu, who hadn't been looking this way, suddenly turned to look, interrupting Zhao Rui's actions at just the right moment.
"Wanwan, you just arrived, would you like something to eat?"
Ning Wanwan paused for a moment, then quickly waved her hand and whispered, "No need."
She went to feed the cats after school, and was called over by Lin Ruowei right after she finished. She hadn't eaten dinner, and her stomach was indeed empty.
However, given the current atmosphere, Ning Wanwan wasn't in the mood to eat.
Shen Wu smiled, as if she had seen through Ning Wanwan's thoughts.
She pushed a piece of cake on the table toward Ning Wanwan: "This tastes good, want to try some?"
Ning Wanwan hesitated and slowly moved to Shen Wu's side. Because there were many people surrounding Shen Wu, she didn't get too close. Someone helped hand the cake to Ning Wanwan.
"Thank you." Ning Wanwan knew it was because Shen Wu was popular, so she thanked her softly and quickly sat back down in her original seat.
Shen Wu nodded and didn't say anything more to Ning Wanwan. So the others turned their attention away from Ning Wanwan and continued to speak well of Shen Wu.
Shen Wu simply sat there listening quietly, occasionally speaking a few words, but no one would perceive her as indifferent; on the contrary, they would feel flattered and excited.
Zhao Rui frowned. After Shen Wu's seemingly unintentional actions, it wouldn't feel right for him to force Ning Wanwan over at this moment.
He had no choice but to sit back down, his brows furrowed with annoyance. He glanced at Ning Wanwan, who seemed to want to get as far away from him as possible, and finished his drink in one gulp.
Ning Wanwan hid in the corner, feeling slightly more at ease knowing no one else was watching her.
The cake in front of her looked exquisite and delicious. As her hunger began to rise, she took a small bite. The rich, soft, and sweet cake base and the fresh, sweet strawberry juice intertwined and spread in her mouth.
Ning Wanwan's eyes lit up instantly, and she couldn't help but take several more bites, her eyes squinting happily.
Shenwu is right, it really is delicious!
After eating most of the food, Ning Wanwan felt a little thirsty and wanted to drink something. Just as she picked up a can of beverage on the table to read the words on it, she heard Chen Wu's words.
"The alcohol we ordered was a bit strong, so I just asked the waiter to get some non-alcoholic fruit juices. Please take whatever you want."
Ning Wanwan looked up and saw several waiters coming in, neatly placing various juices on each table.
"Goddess Chenwu is so thoughtful! I was just thinking of having something else to drink!"
"Yeah yeah……"
Everyone naturally agreed with Shen Wu.
Ning Wanwan glanced in the direction of Chen Wu.
For some reason, although Shenwu's words sounded like they were addressed to everyone, she always had a subtle feeling that the other person was actually talking to her.
This time, however, Shen Wu did not look at her.
