Zhou Shuyao cursed as he writhed on the deck like a maggot.
"So you think you can just sit next to me, water the cabbage I painstakingly planted, and then morally blackmail me into taking it away? Where's your shame? Did you eat candy at the market yesterday?"
"Who was it that patted my chest and said, 'Brother, don't worry, I'll treat your wife like my own sister-in-law'? And what happened? You turned around and dared to fawn over her, even finding another woman to sow discord between us, and you'd practically wash her clothes yourself just to hand her a bar of soap! I think you don't want to be a brother-in-law, you want to be a crow that 'usurps the nest'..."
These words were extremely offensive.
Qin Jinshen, who was eavesdropping from behind a tree, turned pale.
He cursed inwardly, thinking that even if Zhou Shuyao later became successful, it couldn't hide his humble origins.
He understood the implication behind Zhou Shuyao's words.
In his previous life, he did indeed try to get close to Ling Huanwu by calling Zhou Shuyao "brother" and occasionally going to their house for meals under the guise of taking care of his younger brother and sister-in-law.
It wasn't until his past actions of harming Ling Huanwu were exposed that Zhou Shuyao became his mortal enemy. He also belatedly realized that Zhou Shuyao's deliberate approach to Ling Huanwu was because he had long harbored feelings for her, which made him even more wary of him.
Qin Jinshen looked guilty as he listened.
But Zhou Jiuzhen thought that Zhou Shuyao was cursing him, accusing him of stealing someone else's partner!
Zhou Jiuzhen turned around and glared at Zhou Shuyao, who was still cursing on the boat. His fists clenched so tightly they cracked. He grabbed a lead weight from a fishing boat and went over to teach him a lesson about what elder brotherly love meant.
But Ling Huanwu beat him to it and shouted, "Whose underwear do you think smells like whose?"
Ling Huanwu's roar was louder than the waves.
But his hand had already reached out and grabbed the half-full jar of pickled seaweed at his feet.
The earthenware jar was very heavy. When she swung it, her body swayed, and the few strands of seaweed hanging from the mouth of the jar swung back and forth with the movement, the salty and pungent smell hitting Zhou Shuyao's face first.
Zhou Shuyao's face was full of terror. He was about to open his mouth when his eyes suddenly widened like the floats on a fishing net!
Because he saw the dark mouth of the jar coming straight at his forehead!
His body was wrapped in bandages, making him unable to move. His throat was so frightened that he could only make strange "hoarse" sounds, just like a fish out of water.
"Huanwu, you mustn't!"
The lead weight in Zhou Jiuzhen's hand clattered onto the deck. He tried to stop Ling Huanwu, but saw that the jar in her hand had already been swung into the air with a whoosh.
The fisherman at the helm was so frightened that he jerked the steering wheel, and the boat swerved and tilted half a circle, almost throwing Zhao Jingxiang, who was standing at the stern, into the sea.
No one expected that Ling Huanwu's foot would slip on the water stains on the deck, and the jar, instead of hitting Zhou Shuyao, would crash onto the ship's side with a "bang" and shatter into seven or eight pieces.
Half-pickled seaweed mixed with brine splashed all over Zhou Shuyao, and half a piece of pottery shard flew past his ear, bounced twice on the deck, and made a crisp sound.
Zhou Shuyao lay stiffly on the deck, a piece of seaweed that had somehow flown in into his mouth, his face covered in brine, and his eyes wide open.
Everyone on the fishing boat was stunned for a full two seconds. Qiao Hui and Lin Xiaoqin were so frightened that they held their waists and gasped for breath.
The fisherman's hands were still trembling as he gripped the steering wheel. Only Zhou Jiuzhen, still shaken, chuckled and quickly covered his mouth.
Who told Zhou Shuyao to look like a rice dumpling just pulled out of a brine vat?
Ling Huanwu herself was stunned. Looking at the broken pottery shards scattered all over the ground, and then at Zhou Shuyao, who was covered in brine, she suddenly felt that it had damaged her image as an educated youth.
She stood up, brushed a stray hair from her forehead, and lowered her voice, "You're lucky! If I ever hear you spreading rumors about me again, saying I'm your wife, I'll beat you every time I see you!"
The gurgling sounds in Zhou Shuyao's throat finally turned into a wail, "Mother—how am I supposed to live? My wife actually wants to kill me..."
His voice, mixed with the fishy smell of the brine, sounded rather comical.
When bystanders heard him call for his wife again, they all broke out in a cold sweat for him.
Zhou Jiuzhen pulled Ling Huanwu along, while the others hurriedly tried to help the dripping "zongzi" (a type of rice dumpling).
The guard, who was standing on the beach and witnessed Ling Huanwu beating people the whole time, was completely terrified.
He glanced behind the tree; Qin Jinshen had already slipped back to prepare, probably never having seen the woman's fierce side.
I never imagined that a delicate woman like Ling Huanwu, who walks with such graceful sway, could hit someone so hard.
As Ma was thinking this, the next second Zhou Jiuzhen jumped off the boat and placed Ling Huanwu steadily beside him, startling him so much that he trembled and quickly covered his head, saying, "If you hit him, you can't hit me!"
Ling Huanwu was stunned and speechless. "Let's go, take me to see Qin Jinshen quickly."
Zhou Jiuzhen held her hand, not letting her leave, his eyes full of worry.
She gently rubbed his hand between his thumb and forefinger to reassure him, and Zhou Jiuzhen reluctantly let go of her hand.
We passed through a jungle.
The guard walked ahead awkwardly, a chill running down his spine, fearing that the woman behind him might suddenly pick up a stone and smash his head open.
After walking for a short while, Ling Huanwu stopped in front of a uniquely designed house. Looking at the familiar house design and the familiar layout of the garden, she froze on the spot.
This house is exactly the same as the one she bought on an island after leaving Zhou Shuyao in her previous life.
At that time, she originally planned to divorce Zhou Shuyao and spend her later years peacefully on the island.
Unexpectedly, she died in Yuncheng before she could even live in the house for a single day.
The door slowly opened, and as soon as she stepped inside, the door behind her slowly closed again, plunging her into darkness.
