Chapter 279 Evil Begets Evil

When Da Gou was a puppy, the doctor told Chu Mei that Da Gou was sick.

The doctor advised the parents to meet the dog's needs and introduce him to various emotional changes so that he could gradually recognize those emotions, which might help with his condition.

So she gave the big dog many things she thought he would like, but she pretended to be indifferent to him, hoping to make him return to being a normal person.

She also urged her husband and younger son to give more favoritism to her older son.

But she forgot that the big dog was also at an age where it needed love.

Just like now, she is anxious about her eldest son's whereabouts, fearing that he is hurt, but she doesn't know that her younger son is more seriously injured.

Unbeknownst to her, Chu Mei was already in tears as she watched this scene.

Feeling ashamed to remain there, she covered her face and rushed out.

Just as he rushed outside the tent, he bumped into Su Haiting, who had rushed over after hearing the news.

Su Haiting looked anxious, then excitedly pulled Chu Mei along, "Aunt Chu, I heard Brother Zhou is back! When are you going to arrange our wedding? Why don't you arrange it now so we can get married..."

"Keep dreaming!"

Chu Mei flung Su Haiting's hand away, her mind filled with the image of Su Haiting selfishly running away.

“My son and daughter-in-law aren’t even divorced yet, and you, this shameless woman, are already rushing to interfere. Believe me or not, I’ll put up posters about you at your seafood company. You’re a disgrace to your brother…”

Chu Mei unleashed a torrent of abuse, leaving Su Haiting's face flushed and pale by turns, yet she trembled and dared not utter a single word in response.

Only after Chu Mei finished cursing and left did she glare venomously in the direction Chu Mei had gone, spitting out a mouthful of saliva, "Still cursing me? And what good are you anyway? You can't even tell right from wrong. Your man will divorce you sooner or later!"

As soon as Su Haiting lifted the tent flap, Political Commissar Hao rushed out, shouting anxiously, "Quick, quick, find someone with type A or type O blood for a blood transfusion!"

The moment the curtain was lifted, Su Haiting saw Zhou Jiuzhen covered in blood on the bed inside, and her legs went weak, causing her to collapse to the ground in shock…

*

The atmosphere inside the dimly lit tent was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.

Su Haiting's followers were sitting together, playing cards with worried expressions. The cards were repeatedly crumpled in their hands, making a rustling sound, each crumpling seeming to question their uneasy hearts.

With a loud bang, the tent door was flung open, and Su Haiting stormed in aggressively.

Her eyes were filled with tears, but her gaze was full of ruthlessness and rage.

Seeing her henchmen still leisurely playing cards, she flew into a rage and roared, "Are you all still playing cards here? Are you deaf? Didn't you hear the loudspeaker outside announcing blood donation?"

As she spoke, she strode over and flipped the card table over, scattering the cards all over the floor.

"Listen up, all of you! You're all blood type O, so get on your way and donate blood right now! Don't dawdle, or you'll be in big trouble if you delay me, Brother Zhou!"

Su Haiting bossed them around arrogantly, spitting as she spoke, as if they were merely objects she could manipulate at will.

The henchmen trembled at her sudden outburst of anger, their faces showing reluctance, but they dared not openly defy her.

One of the slightly bolder ones muttered in a low voice, "We...we were instructed by you to bully that Ling Huanwu before, and not only did we fail, but now we're worried that her man will come back and cause trouble for us, and now we have to donate blood..."

"Stop talking nonsense!" Su Haiting interrupted him without listening to his explanation. "Just go when I tell you to. Why are you complaining so much? After you donate blood, go to that Chu Mei's tent and teach her a good lesson! It would be best to ruin her reputation so that Zhao Tingguo will dislike her and not want her anymore! If you don't do a good job, you can forget about ever going back to the city to work at the seafood company!"

The five lackeys' discontent grew stronger; they had long been fed up with Su Haiting's bossy attitude.

Before, they listened to her and bullied Ling Huanwu, and almost got scared to death by a ghost. Now they have to donate blood and provoke that former commander's wife. Aren't they pushing them into a fire pit?

They felt like Su Haiting's dogs, being ordered around at will, and being beaten and scolded for the slightest disobedience.

Finally, one of the henchmen couldn't take it anymore. He glared at Su Haiting, a resolute glint in his eyes, "What do you take us for? You think you can just order us around like we're nothing? The previous incident isn't over yet, and now you're doing this again?"

As he spoke, he stood up and approached the female supporting character step by step.

Seeing this, the other followers also stood up and surrounded Su Haiting, their eyes filled with resentment.

Seeing this scene, Su Haiting felt a little scared, but she still said defiantly, "What...what do you want? If you dare disobey me, you're dead! You won't be able to get back to the city, just wait and see..."

"You're dead meat!" Another henchman rushed forward and grabbed Su Haiting by the collar. "You bitch, today we'll show you that we're not to be trifled with!"

After saying that, the group rushed forward and cornered Su Haiting in the corner of the tent.

In this cramped and dimly lit space, only Su Haiting's terrified cries and pleas for mercy could be heard, but they were quickly drowned out by the angry curses and commotion of her henchmen.

Someone took off their clothes and gagged Su Haiting, preventing the commotion inside from reaching the outside. Only the faint sound of a woman's painful sobs could be heard.

After an unknown amount of time, everything finally quieted down.

Su Haiting was disheveled, her hair was messy, and she collapsed on the ground with empty eyes and a face full of despair.

Each of the henchmen held a small knife and carved the word "bitch" into Su Haiting's body.
