Chapter 183 Jealousy

"Oh, so you're just like Old Wang praising his own melons, singing your own praises?" Fang Qiao winked and teased, "Is it really your old lady who said that? Or are you just patting yourself on the back?"

Wang Yun puffed out her chest: "It really is what my mother-in-law said, there's no doubt about it."

Fang Qiao took the red envelope and glanced at it. "Oh, it's all new money, not even a crease. Your mother-in-law is so thoughtful."

These days, the matchmaker's gift is usually two fish or half a pound of meat and half a pound of brown sugar.

If you were to convert it to money, it would be one dollar and sixty cents, one dollar and eighty cents, or one dollar and ninety cents—choosing an auspicious number for good luck.

"The wedding used new money, and the dowry I received was also all brand new ten-yuan notes. My mother-in-law specially exchanged them; it took her a lot of effort."

Wang Yun's face lit up with a smile as she spoke of this.

Her mother-in-law was thoughtful and valued her, and handled things in a respectable manner. Wang Yun was originally very satisfied with the marriage, and now she was extremely happy.

Seeing that Wang Yun's marriage was going smoothly, Fang Qiao was also very happy for her.

A good husband is one thing, a good mother-in-law is another; both are very important in a marriage.

As long as there are no conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, life will be comfortable from now on, and there's no need to worry about not living well.

Since Wang Yun was newly married, Fang Qiao didn't engage in any meaningful conversation with her and quickly sent her back home.

After Wang Yun left, Fang Qiao and Xiao Jing took the children for a stroll outside for a while. As the sun set and smoke began to rise from the chimneys of the residential compound, they took the children home.

It was time to make dinner, and Little Zhuque came home on time. She rushed into the kitchen and circled around Fang Qiao, asking, "Pretty Sister Fang Qiao, what are we having for dinner tonight?"

Little Vermilion Bird was a naturally funny character. Hearing its voice, Fang Qiao couldn't help but smile: "Such a sweet tongue, huh?"

"It's because you're so sweet, Sister Fang Qiao!" Little Zhuque said in a serious tone, "Seeing you makes my heart feel like it's covered in honey, and even the words I say are sweet."

Fang Qiao was amused. "You're so glib. Who taught you that?"

Little Vermilion Bird would never tell Fang Qiao that it learned it from the flirtatious banter of city college students having a secret rendezvous in the grove.

Fang Qiao didn't want to pry, and said with a smile, "What are you trying to do by being so nice to me today?"

"Sister Fang Qiao, I'd like to order something." Little Zhuque, oblivious to any hint of modesty, blurted out as soon as Fang Qiao asked, "I want a roujiamo (Chinese hamburger)!"

Fang Qiao hesitated, "A roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) won't do. We don't have any meat at home today."

The little Vermilion Bird immediately said, "I'll go catch it now!"

"Catch what? Catch a pig?" Fang Qiao chuckled. "A pig weighs two or three hundred pounds. Can you catch it?"

pig?

It won't work!

"Then, forget it."

Little Zhuque lowered her head in disappointment, looking utterly pitiful.

Even though Fang Qiao was soft-hearted, she couldn't conjure meat out of thin air. So she could only reach out and pat the little Vermilion Bird's head, saying, "Tomorrow, let your sister Xiao Jing go and get the meat. Let's eat something else today. I'm going to steam some egg custard for An'an later. Do you want some?"

"Yes, yes, yes!"

The mention of steamed egg custard instantly dispelled Little Vermilion Bird's disappointment!

You can make a smooth and tender steamed egg custard!

"Sister Fang Qiao, you're so kind." Little Zhuque happily snuggled into Fang Qiao's arms, rubbing against her chest.

"Alright, alright, stop rubbing against me, or you'll rub your feathers off." Fang Qiao couldn't resist the little Vermilion Bird's enthusiasm any longer.

Cheng Baidong arrived just in time to witness this scene.

The veins on his forehead were throbbing.

This silly bird! Where is it going to rub against?

He strode into the kitchen, grabbed the little Vermilion Bird from Fang Qiao's chest, and carried it out of the kitchen by its wings, his voice cold and stern: "You'd better stop now."

The little Vermilion Bird was grabbed by the wings, as if it were being strangled.

Even though his life was in Cheng Baidong's hands, he still couldn't resist provoking her: "I'm just a bird! Ha, man, you're so petty."

What's wrong with the bird?

Birds also have genders.

Who knows if your bird is male or female?

Cheng Baidong emphasized, "That's my wife."

Fang Qiao's voice came from the kitchen: "Bai Dong, don't pull Niao Niao's wings, it hurts."

The little Vermilion Bird trembled instantly, raising its chin: "Did you hear me? Pretty sister told you not to pull my wings!"

Cheng Baidong's temple throbbed, and he released his grip under Fang Qiao's gaze.

"I don't play with stingy men, I'm going to find An'an~" Little Vermilion Bird flapped its wings triumphantly and flew away.

Cheng Baidong's brain was congested with blood, and his anger surged up instantly!

That bird deserves a good beating!

Cheng Baidong walked into the kitchen and embraced Fang Qiao.

Fang Qiao twisted her shoulders and struggled, "Hey, don't hug me, I'm cooking."

Cheng Baidong was jealous, and said in a sour tone, "You let me hug your bird, but not me?"

"How old is Niao Niao? How old are you?" Fang Qiao asked helplessly, but also found it amusing. "It's just a little bird, still a child. Why are you jealous of it?"

Cheng Baidong didn't care; he just felt a pang of jealousy.

He didn't speak, but lowered his head and buried his face in Fang Qiao's neck, his nose touching her skin.

Fang Qiao could feel Cheng Baidong's every breath clearly because of his sensitive neck skin; it itched terribly.

She wanted to laugh, but after holding it in for a while, she couldn't hold it in any longer. Seeing that Cheng Baidong didn't intend to move away, she tilted her neck to the side, laughed, and pushed his face away: "Don't put your face on my neck, I want to laugh."

Fang Qiao's smile instantly dispelled any romantic atmosphere.

Cheng Baidong sighed helplessly, and before releasing her slender waist, he gently pinched it: "Don't forget tonight."
