Chapter 32 Lu Xiao’s Connection

"knew."

Lu Xiao's voice sounded a little deeper and colder than before.

"I will investigate this matter. The clues you provided are very important. Thank you."

Doctor Wang didn't seem to notice Lu Xiao's change in mood, and felt a little embarrassed when he heard what Lu Xiao said.

"Captain Lu, thank you for your help."

"She is my wife and this is my responsibility."

What did you mean by that just now?

Why bother him? Su Tang is his wife. If he doesn't bother him, will he bother the doctor Wang in front of him?

The discomfort in Lu Xiao's heart became more and more obvious. He stood up, and it was obvious that he wanted to see the guest off.

Doctor Wang didn't want to stay any longer, so he said a few more words and then left with a worried look on his face.

Lu Xiao stood in the yard, looking at the apple on the stone table with a frown.

Shaking off the strange thoughts in his mind, Lu Xiao thought that the man described by Doctor Wang matched the source of the poisonous weed.

Hu Lili did have help.

Or was it Hu Jianjun who asked Hu Lili to do this?

“Tsk tsk tsk…”

Chang Jia's voice suddenly came from the door. He had come back at some point and was leaning against the door frame, looking at Lu Xiao with a playful expression.

"Look at your face, it's as black as the bottom of a pot. What's the matter? Are you unhappy when you hear Dr. Wang praising your Su Tang?"

Lu Xiao glanced at him coldly. Chang Jia's words were mean, but he didn't bother to respond. "Is the training over?"

"Isn't it a matter of minutes to fool that idiot Hu Jianjun?"

Chang Jia walked in, picked up an apple, rubbed it on his clothes and started to eat it.

"I'm watching him. He's been distracted all morning and made several mistakes during training. He's obviously got something up his sleeve."

"What did Doctor Wang say just now?"

Lu Xiao simply repeated what Dr. Wang said.

Chang Jia paused while chewing his apple. "There really is an accomplice? Hu Lili is quite capable! Could it be one of those thugs from the black market in town?"

"It's almost there." Lu Xiao's eyes were cold: "I'll go find out where the town is."

Looking at Lu Xiao's eyes, Chang Jia shook his head helplessly.

Those people really hit a wall.

"Okay, I'll keep a close eye on Hu Jianjun and see if he reveals his true colors or connects with Hu Lili."

Chang Jia finished his apple in a few bites, threw away the core, and clapped his hands.

"But I say, Old Lu, aren't you a bit too jealous? Doctor Wang is truly grateful to Su Tang. It seems like he's practically worshipping your wife as a living Buddha."

"You put on a face that says 'don't approach me' and it scares people away."

Lu Xiao ignored his teasing, turned around and walked out, leaving only one sentence: "Stop talking nonsense and get down to business."

Chang Jia shouted at his back, "For the sake of your Su Tang's innocence, and for the sake of my hot sauce! I admit it! Hurry up and go to town, and find that little scoundrel. I'll break his legs!"

He couldn't even get a good rest after returning from an emergency mission.

Lu Xiao didn't stop, but just slightly lowered the corners of his mouth.

Chang Jia was right. The inexplicable unhappiness was indeed caused by Dr. Wang's attitude.

Su Tang's kindness is remembered and appreciated by other men...

This was the first time Lu Xiao had experienced this feeling. It was sour, bitter, and a little... indescribably irritating.

He didn't like this feeling because it made him feel that things were out of control.

He took a deep breath and forced himself to suppress this unfamiliar emotion.

The most important thing now is to find evidence and get Su Tang out of the confinement room with a clear conscience.

As for the rest... Lu Xiao's eyes darkened and he decided to wait until this matter was settled before discussing it.

He quickened his pace and his figure quickly disappeared at the end of the dirt road leading to the town.

Lu Xiao belongs to the most remote camp in the northwest, but it is also the most confidential combat zone.

It’s not easy to go to town, you have to take two buses.

So people here won't go to the town easily.

Plus, it’s a bit chaotic now, and there are fewer people in the town.

Lu Xiao arrived when it was almost dark and went to find an old acquaintance and former comrade-in-arms.

Lu Xiao didn't go directly to the most chaotic alleys in the town.

He turned into an inconspicuous alley at the east end of the town as if he knew the way there well, stopped in front of a small shop that offered shoe and tire repair, and knocked on the door three times rhythmically.

There was a rustling sound from inside, and the door opened a crack, revealing a face with unshaven beardedness and puffy eyes.

When the man saw that it was Lu Xiao, his eyes lit up and he quickly opened the door a little.

"Captain Lu? What a rare guest! Come in!"

The man's voice was a little hoarse and surprised.

This man's name is Lao Geng. He was an old brother of Lu Xiao who had fought in the same trench with him on the battlefield. Later, he injured his leg and returned to his hometown.

This shoe repair shop is just a cover. He has connections and knows everything about the people in the town.

Lu Xiao walked in. The room was dimly lit and filled with a mixed smell of low-quality tobacco and leather glue.

Lao Geng dragged over a lame bench for Lu Xiao to sit on.

"Old Geng, time is short, I won't be polite with you."

Lu Xiao didn't sit down, but spoke directly in a low voice.

"Help me find someone. A new face who has been active in the black market in recent days, as well as a familiar face who seems to be a bit uneasy. The key is to get some black herbs."

After saying this, Lu Xiao briefly talked about Su Tang's situation.

The smile on Lao Geng's face faded and he became serious: "Is there such a thing?"

Lu Xiao nodded, his eyes as cold as a pond: "Someone stuffed something dirty into the medicine bags she had packed, to frame her."
