Chapter 32 Lu Xiao’s Connection

"Damn it!"

Old Geng spat and cursed angrily, "Which bastard dares to touch my sister-in-law?"

He rubbed his rough palms, and a fierce look appeared in his eyes.

"Captain Lu, don't worry, I'll take care of this! I can at least tell which of those scoundrels in this town are dishonest and have made a small fortune recently."

He thought for a moment and leaned closer to Lu Xiao: "The town has been really uneasy lately. The situation is tense. The black market has moved away and is no longer in this area."

"Now we all meet behind the abandoned brick kiln factory on the west bank of the river, either at night or at daybreak. If you want to find the way to medicinal herbs, nine out of ten times you have to go there to ask."

Lu Xiao frowned. That place was very desolate. It was no exaggeration to say that even if you lost someone there, you wouldn't be able to find them.

"Yes, it's easy for strangers to attract attention."

Lao Geng fumbled out a small stack of crumpled food coupons from under the workbench and stuffed it into Lu Xiao's hand.

"Take this as a stepping stone. Go find a boy nicknamed 'Little Cripple' who hangs around the brick kiln, running errands and keeping watch for a living."

"Just tell him 'Old Geng asked you to buy some mountain goods,' and give him the food coupons. He'll take you to someone. That guy's very clever, and he knows who has the 'hard goods.'"

Lu Xiao looked at the food coupons and pushed Lao Geng's hand back: "Thanks, Lao Geng, I have the coupons, you keep them for yourself. When this is over, I will bring Su Tang to thank you."

"Why are you thanking me?"

Old Geng waved his hand and interrupted him: "Hasn't it been enough for you to help me? Go quickly, and be careful, those people are very cunning."

If it weren't for Lu Xiao, it would be another matter whether he could open this shoe repair shop.

Lu Xiao patted Lao Geng on the shoulder, turned around and left without saying anything more.
